    The Chrysler 300 SRT is such an American combination. Big luxury sedan with a large V8 shoved under the hood with RWD. This car really feels like the classier version of all the various Dodge Charger and Challenger SRTs out there, the Mopar muscle for adults. With some impressive technology (for the price and money), heated and cooled cupholders and adjustable suspension, this American muscle-sedan is pretty awesome. My friend Tim has this example that has traveled over 155,000 miles, find out what some of the major issues have been, what its been like to own and why its such a cool option in this price range!

      He totally gets the car. I had a 2010 6.1. Loved that car and would have gotten a new one to replace it if they would have still offered it in the US in 2017.
      The 5-speed was better mated to the 6.1’s power band. I have a 2015 Jeep SRT with a 6.4 and 8-speed so it is strange why the 8-speed never made it into the 300 SRT toward the end.

    • @MTLJack
      @MTLJack 6 місяців тому

      That's because most of these big muscle cars with the top trim like SRT / GT500 / GT350- / Hellcat , arent daily driven , they are more like weekend warriors so it doesnt justify the need for AWD. Also, itll be must more expensive. Throughout the history, all big top trims like these are all about wheel spin and RWD

    • @michaelcoles6793
      @michaelcoles6793 6 місяців тому

      @@MTLJack -I wasn't talking just about the SRT or "highline" cars...I was talking about the HEMI's in general. The 5.7 HEMI was in everything and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango had AWD with their V8's and the Chrysler 300 V8 had AWD as an option up until 2014. And very few of those cars would be considered "weekend warriors". So it was just a choice on Chrysler's side to not offer it.

    I just bought a 2006 Chrysler 300c hemi with 168,000 miles. It has some issues that have cropped up. I am having the side mirrors replaced so they can be adjusted from the inside arm rest control. It is having a engine light on and off issue that will be looked at by my mechanic. It smells hot but the dash gauge is normal and it did stall out later today, grrrr. Then, today, the engine light came on again along with the oil light, will check the fluids tomorrow. I know the water pump was going to need replacing very soon. Not sure of the actual problem(s) can be. The car ran superbly earlier today. Love this car and am willing to put some money into it but I have to do so as needed and slowly due to my income being Social Security only. My car has that lovely black ain’t and glistens in the sun. I was hoping for a little more sound car but I wanted a “muscle” car and this is definitely it. Pray that these are the only issues for awhile and they aren’t too costly.

    The CORE model is rare, lighter, faster. As for the fluff features. I have a '15 Core and it has GPS, reverse camera, auto wipers, front and rear sensors, sport/track mode. It's missing the adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, dual plane roof, leather seats, cool/hot cup holders, heated seats, 19 speakers. For me, paying an extra $13k for things I don't need made sense. If a car has a V8, and aircon, I'm sold.
    PS: In Australia, when ever they tested the performance of these cars, they always use CORES, because they are a little lighter, and faster.

    My 300 SRT has been sitting since 2018 because of this lifters fail problem. The failed lifter destroyed my cam and crankshaft along with the main seal with heated up over the time driving it and expanded my engine. So my engine has to be replace because I would have major oil leakes. Mopar changed company when they went from 6.1 to 6.2. The 6.1 doesn't have this lifter problem. I had to learn this stuff the hard way. Sad thing is, mopar knew of this problem and didn't do a recall on it.

    • @cyberlocc
      @cyberlocc 3 роки тому

      They didnt change company.
      The 6.1 is the superior Engine, 100%. However they wanted to push more HP for NA SRTs. The reason they made the 6.2 (which is as reliable as the 6.1) is because theb 6.4 on top of the lifter issues, cannot take boost. The 6.1 and the 6.2 can, they are designed with SCers in mind, and they can take the boost, better built engines.

    • @MrPesante2008
      @MrPesante2008 3 роки тому

      @@cyberlocc You sure about that? I was told Chrysler went with a different company for the lifters. Which were cheaper.

    • @cyberlocc
      @cyberlocc 3 роки тому

      @@MrPesante2008 I didn't realize you meant change company for the lifters.
      That I am not sure of. However the 5.7 and the 6.4 have the MDS lifter issues, the 6.1 doesn't because it doesn't have MDS nor does the 6.2.
      There is another issue with all of them, that someone else brought up as well. Bad oiling in the engine, this presents in all of them, and can cause lifter failure as well as damage to the Cam.
      The 6.4 also has too high, and too thin of Ring Lands, that causes the engine to fail quickly when put under boost, this is why the 6.2 was designed, the 6.4s can't handle much boost at all. That is seen from what I have always seen as them cheating out.

    • @MrPesante2008
      @MrPesante2008 3 роки тому

      @@cyberlocc yeah i heard of the oil situation. That's why I used lucas with all of my oil changes. My mechanic is a retired mopar tech, and he was the one who told me about the lifters company change. I believe that motor can't handle boost because it's not fully forged like the 6.1.

    Not MDS lifter which has early life failure, it’s any lifter. Happens in non MDS 6.4 and MDS equipped 6.4 built pre 2016. Any one of 16 roller lifter can fail typically around 75k miles. In fact, it’s too small needle bearings used in early lifter roller. Don’t last. Lifter roller needle bearings freezes, collapse, jam without notice and locked roller goes on to slowly wipe cam lobe from metal to metal friction. May not even know it until it’s too late, when engine develops misfire. From 2016, lifters were revised in 6.4 with thicker meatier roller needle bearings. Problem solved.
