- There is no doubt that Taekwondo is a martial art that is devoted to strength and speed. Combining these two elements can result in a hit, if unavoidable, that can lead to the recipient seeing stars. In this video, I will show you 15 occasions, where fighters wished they dodged the strike.

I remember as a kid I loved taekwondo and I was so hard to beat until one day I was caught by a spin kick to the head, I remember waking up in the hospital the next day. That one kick traumatised me and I never fought again, still a great sport!
Everybody will get that hit once in their lifetime. The hit that makes you realize how feared you are of pain. Once you overcome this you will be a great fighter, but it will always stick with you.
it weather you choose to get back up or not that matters
Happened to me in baseball, great catcher until one day a fastball hit me straight in my face. Started taekwondo about 2 1/2 months ago, so I can’t wait to get my ass beat.
I box and I’m hard to beat but getting hit never would make me stop Wgat I love Fr
I feel like you should think more positively, main focus of martial arts is to master your mentality, and you have failed that.
But im willing to tell you something, what you took you should savor, You should admire the opponent’s mastery and follow a path like him.
im not saying injury is an excuse, its a serious thing, but if anything, being hurt in martial arts is a definitely something you have to get used to
and recovery is something you should also savor because it feels so good to lay on your bed knowing your team is training so hard while you get to rest XD

Self-defense should be a basic skill just like math, reading and writing.
Jiu Jitsu is promoted as the ultimate self-defense system, but this is what Jiu Jitsu looks like against a striker and kicker (and if there are two guys against you, you're instantly doomed! The other guy will just kick you in the head while you're trying to cuddle his friend):
How Kazushi Sakuraba Destroyed the Gracie Clan
m.ua-cam.com/video/yjVM1eRSPlE/v-deo.html
I've learned that the US Military and Secret Service, and even Israel, the home of Krav Maga, are learning Systema (which is a combat system tested and proven by the Russian Special Forces for survival during war times, unlike Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo, MMA and other sport martial arts, which are not only exclusively for one-on-one, but also don't train against weapons).
I wish Systema were taught in schools (starting from kindergarten) instead of useless P.E. If everyone were skilled in self-defense, there would be less assaults, kidnappings and rapes because evil-minded people would hesitate to attack anyone, knowing they'll be in for a real fight, battling for their own lives.
Here's a link about Systema:

@@westsidewoodledge8892 It isn't as useless as say, wing chun but TKD practitioners never throw strikes or defend those kicks with a high guard. My father owns his own taekwondo club, for 30 years now. It’s a great sport and he has seen some things too in all these years!
Over 15 years ago, during a local competition, my friend accidentally kicked into the eye socket of his rival and left the young man blinded. My friend had since stopped the sport out of remorse.
*Update* : Guys, thanks for the support and comments on my thread, but just to clarify my purpose of sharing this ISN'T to spread hatred or any bad feelings towards this sport or any form of martial arts.

I studied Taekwondo (Chung-do-kwon style) for around 15 years. Never competed professionally, just a few local tournaments. Who taught these people? Why do none of them have their guard up? Blocking was a HUGE part of my class. We would actually do blocking exercises with the instructor trying to hit us with a foam stick. Most of these knockouts could have been avoided if they didn't have their arms at their sides while fighting.
I thought that as well, their arms are just down, my instructor taught me to always put one hand near your face to protect it, in the vid all of their hands are just down
Traditional taekwondo differs from competitive taekwondo. In competitive taekwondo you're taught to use your hands to guard your body so as to prevent point scoring.
@@nayrbhaes8120 The style I studied is a traditional style. The Chung-Do-Kwon style of Taekwondo is known as a hard style. Everything they do is done hard, as in you put power behind every movement. It is meant for combat, not competition. Our master actually trained the American military at one point in time. I get your point, though, it just blows my mind that some styles have their students just keeping their hands at their sides like that.
I am a Shito-Ryu stylist and thinking where is your blocking skills!!????
we also don't do knockouts unless on accident...
As a Black belt in Taekwondo some of these moves are made to severely injure or kill someone. Yes I was taught to use some of those moves. I spared someone in a competition and my opponent nearly died and I ended up quitting
I have no clue why in some of them they aren’t wearing protective gear.
Can those lethal moves be affective against street gangsters or drunken mobsters in streets?
@@the_sin.is.ter_9528 if he said they can severely injury or kill I'm pretty sure they will be affective
@@peacelycas5633 It depends on precision & location of impact. Btw if got blow in critical areas like pelvis, groin, liver & in sensitive head regions then it can impact very awfully. Taekwondo is the one that really teaches u how to kick. But it’s a big investment of time and effort into just kicking. Not everyone can afford it. Also u have to invest a lot into stretching daily to keep up your TKD chops. But it is still the one that really teaches the mastery of kicking
true, but it's not *just* about kicking, plenty of hand techniques in there too
Tae Kwon Do the way of striking with hands and feet.
@@garycollins1157 But the punches lack power and technique of boxing punches. I’m not a fan of the Eastern punching techniques. Taekwondo’s strength is definitely in its kicks.
@@Robert-rl7rd well that's why it's better to strengthen both hands and feet. If you worry only on kicks then what would you do if someone were to close the distance to where you are left vulnerable meaning you cannot kick at all from a close distance? To learn from a style's weaknesses is to improve and train that weakness. That's why I stress both western boxing and taekwondo when I teach. Making it a habit to keep their hands each time they spar. I am not a fan of the Olympic taekwondo sparring stances because your only exposing your head more in my opinion. To go back to what your saying it is true that all the power comes from tae kwon do's kicking techniques. Which I do agree with.
@@garycollins1157 Agreed
Number 13 is a suicide kick or some people call it trap kicks. I've seen some schools practiced it on some punching dummy though they used a thick mattress to soften a fall. If you look closely it's the same type of movement as the one done by aaron cook at number 9. The only difference is aaron's first kick didn't anchor off of Steven Lopez's shoulder like in the number 13 clip.

I learned that kick in the first clip, as a student. This was in the 90s. At the time, I thought it couldn't possibly work, where was the power? But now I've seen a dozen knock out clips from someone bringing their heel down on another's head
Land it in the right spot it can kill as with many Taekwondo kicks - use wisely and responsibly
You're not wrong. On paper or even in video it really doesn't look like much. But having both delivered devastating axe kicks in my youth, AND receiving them, the torque is just unreal. The downward force is far more brutal than it looks.
It's the same with the Brazilian kick, it looks weird, slow when it does the curve but the power is there.
www.youtube.com/@karatedojo22?sub_confirmation=1
I had a guy once tell me taekwondo is "just dancing." I really wanted to go into the ring with him right there, but I was visiting the college, and I had asked a student representative if there were any martial arts clubs and which martial arts they covered. He asked which one I did, I told him taekwondo.
Its not just dancing, but its not real fighting either. Virtually useless on the streets. Coming from a guy that did taekwondo pretty many years.
@@keaponlaffin6737 Please explain why learning how to kick is useless on the streets. I'm not claiming it's gonna be useful in every situation, but claiming it's useless seems just as much of a stretch to me. Also, how do you define "real fighting"? If by that you mean a street fight, then there's not a single martial art that teaches real fighting according to you. All the martial arts that have rules or restrictions (boxing, Muay Thai, Judo, Taekwondo,...) are not designed to fight on the streets. That doesn't mean their techniques can not be useful in certain situations though.
@@keaponlaffin6737 Yeah the competitive/olympic taekwondo is useless. But the traditional taekwondo is just a murderous art made for the battlefield.

Watching these videos shows me just how much Taekwondo teaches a lot of showy yet powerful kicks at the total expense of how to block any of them..
You can block that if you know where kick is coming for but when you attack someone with taekwondo kicks…we can hit anywhere and if you got attacked, you can’t really see the kicks coming until you get hitten on your face or body
You can just get good at blocking on your own to make up for it though
Bro you are watching a knockout compilation so ofc they kicks aren’t gonna be blocked. Get in the ring with me or anyone else in tkd and we’ll show you how much we block.
Not true. There's several actually.
That is kind of wrong.
For one, one of the strongest kicks in Taekwondo is the back kick.
Said kick is not easily blocked, because it goes for your gut instead of your chest.
You will have to actively lower your arms to block the kick, instead of just guarding in front of your chest.
This will also make you vulnerable for a kick to the head, which is basically most of the kicks you learn in taekwondo.
So you either choose to get the wind knocked out of you and vulnerable for a second blow, or you block it successfully and get hit by the upcoming blow on the head.
Or they’re an ITF taekwondo practitioner, and you get pummeled.
4:40 "cHenG s0ng JoNg"

To be honest, i fell in love with the sport once i watched one of the matches in tv. Coincidentally, me friend just joined one of the taekwondo’s club and invited me to join the club. Till this time, i was traumatized because the teacher kicked me in the stomach with full power. Yes, i wear protection, but i was 15 at that time and receive a full powered kick in the stomach and i only joined for less than a month. Immediately i fell to the ground and felt like my stomach was trying to come out from my mouth. Since that day, i reluctantly went to 2-3 more classes, and i decided to stop the lessons. Thinking back on it, if the teacher was “demonstrating” the dollyo chagi to me, a mere amateur without full power, i might still continue to train. But for me, who just went to train for less than a month with full power and did not expected the full power of dan 3 teacher kick, traumatized me to this day. But i still love to watch the games from tv and from youtube

Fax. Just look at Edson Barbosa, he is a beast in kicking.
Aaron Cooks' and the "Bizzare Kick" are actually the same idea.
Foot is hung-up on the opponent's shoulder - what do you do?
Punch to the chest will only get you point and is undecisive. So you use your only foot to kick into the opponent's head.
As you do this, pull down on the leg that's hung-up as the counter-weight (counter-balance). This has the effect of pulling the opponent's head directly into your kick.
As I recall, in TKD, there's no trapping of feet using hands allowed. But in other mixed martial arts, there is.
When your foot gets trapped by hand, can also attempt this same technique.
Since both of their hands are busy grabbing your one foot, they don't have a free hand anymore to block/check your kick.
🔥🔥🔥
The Spin Kick Knockout and the Axe Kick seems to always do the tricks lol
3:07 "dabbled in mixed martial arts", Joe Rogan did more than that, he has a black belt in gi and no-gi BJJ and did taekwondo a lot as a kid

2:52 could anyone tell me why an entire tournament is being held on a solid hard surface? Surely that could really fuck someone up
tournaments are big and often have 10+ rungs going at once in a gymnasium or something. There's just no way to either have that many portable mats or to afford having a dojo with a mat that huge
Well at least it isn't concrete...
Mine are held on surfaces like that. The gear dosent look it, but is extremely padded. There have been no serious injury. Though my mouth did bleed once
Had a tournament on a wooden floor once. During round two, my opponent looked redder and redder. Turns out I had abraded the skin of both my big toes (doing shuffles) and with each kick, sprayed blood onto my opponent. Was send to first aide but lost the match because I wasn't back in time (it was treated as a equipment malfunction......).
