In this video I master a song from start to finish in the box - from bouncing the mix and importing it to a fresh DAW session to making the song ready for release on streaming platforms.
I use Logic for mastering, but any DAW can be used. Also, the plugins I use are not necessarily "the best" for mastering, but I like them and feel comfortable using them. Most important is the way of thinking and the reasons behind each action.

assuming you mixs on the ns10s and master on the focals but do you check your master on the ns10s also
Hey, thanks for asking! Yeah, I use both, but the ns10s get overall more playtime. Also, I use my headphones every now and the to spot details👍🎧
@@subphotic THANK YOU MAN I SUBBED
@@BOODA575 Awesome🙌
When you imported the 2 track into the blank mastering session, why were the wave forms so even? Were you using a clipper on your mixbus?
Thanks!
Hey, thanks for asking! Yes, I did some soft clipping on the peaks on the mixbus. There are pros and cons of doing this, but the clipping was gentle, and I could have saved this for mastering. I think it’s visible on the waveform when zooming in, transients are intact but without the rogue peaks
@@subphotic thanks for the quick response!
If you turned off the limiter then why does the wav form look like a brick
It’s a soft clipper on the mixbus that does a 1 to 2 db off the peaks. I rarely do this, but liked the sound and figured why not😀 Of course, I could have waited with it and inserted it just before the final limiter and gotten a slightly different result, but it really didn’t affect anything IMO. Thanks for chiming in, cheers🙌
Tack :)
Bare hyggelig🙌
I like your workflow
