The 1/20 Bandai kit is really, really awesome, it has a very detailed and intricate inner frame, it has all the gimmicks from the Wave kit plus some more on the feet. The hatch even has some functioning pistons for the opening action. Too bad it is really hard to find nowadays.

Zach you should definitely check out the og votoms anime its one of the best mecha animes ive ever seen. It has a much more serious tone than most gundam series of the same time.

I think Bandai made them and they’re not produced anymore But I’m going to look for this kit I like it a lot 😎💜
nah, we still need a Perfect Grade Scopedog, that would be like 1/12 scale (31.6 cm) the 1/20 is basically a MG, I hope that bandai either makes a newer one or re issue the 1/20 even if it has a higher price, it would be cheaper than the prices it has right now
Nice kit I ve build the old Wave 1/24 kit and it was very good back then with detail. The Bandai /p Bandai Kits are detailed and the big differences is in the interior. Bandai 1/20kit has more detail and an inner frame. Im an older builder and a Votoms fan... and the new Wave kit is a bargain. The 1/20 kits are hard to get and expesive depending on which kit you are going after. Maybe we will see p Bandai repop the 1/20 kits, I hope. There is one i really want to get.
Im curious how this compares to Gundam kits in terms of size. It looks cool no doubt, but its not readily avaliable for me and id have to pay about the same as an MG Sinanju to get it
They're pretty nice I would say the one with the opening cockpit is probably more worth it. But tbh all of the parts in the expansion should have been included in the retail release.
I love Votoms. It is such a grim and brutal series and the Scopedog perfectly exemplifies it by being so ugly and function-over-form. The show definitely doesn't treat their mecha like special and unique units like Gundam or even particularly heroic. The scopedog and other mecha in the show are cheap, disposable pieces of machinery and they are treated as such in the series, like the real robot version of an ak47. The hero of the series wrecks his mecha every few episodes and always comes across another. I definitely want to build a scopedog at some point. Does anyone know how the existing kits compare to the various gunpla grades when it comes to size?
Bandai 1/20 scopedogs are almost same size with 1/100 MG's (But I measured it to be slightly taller than MG Zaku 2 v2.0 by 1@2cm, so probably measurement error) Bandai HG 1/32 scopedog is almost same height of usual HG 1/144. (But I eyeballed it bit seems to be a lot shorter than HGGTO RX-78-2 & Grimoire Red Beret, almost same height as HG Demi Trainer (height includes scopedog antenna) Edit: changed Zaku into Zaku 2 v2.0 for clarity
Skip the HG Scopedog and wait/buy the HG Burglarydog. They fixed the limited articulation on the HG Scopedog thighs joints on the Burglarydog, and has extra parts too.

it has EVERY SINGLE BOLT casted separately, let that sink in for a bit. Wave is not even close to the 1/20 Bandai kit.

a Scope Dog piloted by Chirico is not considered a Scope Dog anymore but a Scope DAWG because it is powered by his Sigma Male energy.

The scopedog has grown on me incredibly fast. It's the walking fridge mecha design that I hate but it just has such a unique and charming silhouette.
It's probably my favorite mecha next to the RX-78 Gundam. It also took a while for me to like it, but I consider it to be such a great design.
The Bandai 1/20 scale is maybe more like a perfect grade. Shit it has individual plastic rivets that hold armor parts together.

it is releasing HG so reissue of the 1/20 is not likely sadly
They even gave you a tool to help put on the bolts as well!

How solid is this one compared to the 1/35 kit? I really enjoyed that one, but I remember a lot of the greebles and a few other parts needing glue

I first saw Scopedog kits in a model mgazine in the late 80's. Always wanted one, but $140 + for one is a big fat NOPE. 😔
The Bandai HG is much cheaper.
