+Cameron Williams When I was on the USS Sampson, one of our guys got orders to Cheyenne Mountain. He was a complete suck up but unlike most, he was actually pretty good at his job. I don't remember what all he responsibilities on the boat were but the one I remember was he was our air traffic guy most of the time.
The NORAD headquarters is at Peterson Air Force Base. The Cheyenne complex acts as an alternate command facility and carries out some day-to-day monitoring functions.
Some day when I was really bored I just went on to Google maps and looked around various places on earth. Then I found some sort of seed storage. I was like "I didn't know something like this exists. Good Idea though... "

Kutteri Puup About half of colorado is covered with mountains that are pretty high 52 of them i believe are over 14,000 ft or about 4270 meters. Colorado Springs is in colorado and is the SUPER conservative part of the state while Boulder is the fairly liberal part of the state. Also many parts of the state are incredibly beautiful.

Gustavus II Adolphus was an ally to the English against Denmark, et al., so I'm guessing he just found a picture that was related to the repelling of the English in a war and didn't realize who the actual subject was.
Of course England wasn't necessarily defeated in that war, either... so perhaps he just found any photo that was relevant in the least and hoped no one would know anything about it?

As a Swiss guy I have to mention three other types of forts in Switzerland: military airplane caverns, 13 airstrips in the hight of the cold war, the reduit bunkers which were huge, huge, and the gold reserves at the Swiss National Bank, they are not impressive by itself, maybe for a small country like Switzerland but there is gold stored as reserves for dozens of other countries and the storage place is under the Bundesplatz in Bern where you can walk over it, this might be the place with the single most gold on earth.
Fun Fact:
They didn't actually use boiling oil as it was highly expansive and very rare. Instead, they used boiling water as it was much cheaper and much easier to find.

I've been to the DMZ... there are guided tours, but you've got to be a non-Korean citizen over the age of twelve. It's not that hard to book a bus trip up to "the most militarised place on earth" to look at "the most dangerous golf course on earth".
I've been in the vault at the Federal Reserve, they run tours. Was there end of October 2019. Amazing place we even got a small bag of shredded dollars as a souvenir
