I'm fascinated, and indeed honoured to see your interpretation here Shannon!!💜 Thanks so much for having a go at my messy wax paper idea, you absolutely made my day 🥰👍❤️
I know just how you feel, Shannon was one of the first people I subscribed to way back in the 2000s. I also regularly watch you too. Thank you both for showing us so much, XOX joy, Spain
Shannon Green!!! You were one of the first UA-camrs I found probably 10 or so years ago who totally inspired me to have fun with art! Since then I fell down the rabbit hole of UA-cam videos and different folks. I am so happy that I have found you again- feel like I have come full circle! Thank you for such creative ideas, presented in such a fun, easy to understand way!! I won’t lose track of you again!!
She was one of the first mixed media UA-cam artists for me, too! Yes, at least ten years go, but seems more like twelve. I kept giggling today because it’s like being home with myself watching my own antics (for example): “It’s still liquid!” *brush loaded with paint* “Now why isn’t a palette right in front of me?” Also, I subscribe to Joie de Fie but didn’t see the inspirational video yet.
@@rebeccaturner7097 I went to Joie de Fie and watched her video and promptly subscribed! She is great! She used a large waxed paper into a journal cover which was so cool!!
I just used my wax melted to do a collage card in my livestream yesterday. So fun! I might do a video just on that. I bet you would love one and they are not expensive. You can use the wax once the smell is gone for art. I'll check out your friends channel!

Shannon I use a old box grater to grate up wax. Watch your fingers near the end of the piece of wax or wear safety gloves. Cool process thanks for sharing
When I was a child, my mom and I put leaves and feathers, glitter, etc , with crayon shavings, between two sheets of waxed paper. Fused with iron, for window art. Fun for children.
Oh my! This takes me back! In my Girl Scout troop--maybe 3rd or 4th grade-- we drew with colored crayons on plain muslin bags. Then the leaders layered newsprint under and over the drawings and heat set our creations with a hot iron. It was so fun to see the end product and use the bag!
Loved your papers, Shannon! I watched Joie’s video too. Definitely want to give it a try. Oh, so many fun things to do and so little time. Thanks for sharing the Shannonizing of this cool technique! ❤️
Your iron is the same as Joie. I clicked on your video cause your name is the same as my niece. I smiled when you started doing this because I watched Joie video last night. Have fun and do your own thing. Lots of Love, Light and Laughter Forever!
the way I get watercolor on a rubber stamp is to dampen the stamp (use a misting bottle - just a little - ) and then use watercolor crayons. you can use more than one color and let them blend as watercolors do. It takes practice because it is easy to get too thick paint that is too dark but once you get it, it's wonderful! "I gotta say I LOVE the melted crayon!!!
Oh my gosh! I have a small travel iron that I was just about to donate to a thrift shop!! BUT now I must keep it and put to good use! Thank you so much!!!!
I have taught HS Art for 20 years and one of my former students sent me this video. She said, “I watched this tutorial and this lady reminded me so much of you! I loved that you weren’t afraid to try whatever… and it made me laugh out loud many times! Isn't Joie the best? I had to laugh when you said, "She used this but I don't have that..." a couple times... but that's what Joie says, right? Use what you have. Great vid, TYFS. Smiles from the Southern California desert, MK 😁🏜😁
I do this as well and a flat plate iron is the best. I have never had any issues with it sticking to the iron, the heat melts it right off. I would agree, though, I wouldn't use it on clothes after, just in case. If you are worried about it, you can use some Parchment paper between the iron and wax.
How about misting some coffee or color on and let dry before crinkling and waxing? I am looking forward to trying...on a smaller scale because I only have a tiny craft iron!
How much fun is this? You are so fun to listen to as you make your decisions....I wonder if a cheese grater would be good to use for the wax? I really love the gilding idea and was thinking maybe using a piece of Parchment or freezer paper when melting wax if that would hold it in or peel it off? Must try.....Yep, I guess I gotta try... Thank you for a great video!
This has got my interest! As always, your work is beautiful! One thing I was wondering is why use a paper towel to clean off your iron? You could keep some book pages close by to grab some of that color! Just a thought.
You’re hilarious! Love watching & especially listening to you. Instead of scissors I use a potato peeler for the wax. (Most of my kitchen utensils are now in my art space.)

I love Joie's videos too. You cracked me up when you said with a bit of awe, that "she actually USES the things she makes! Well, sometimes that happens around here." How about just using an ink pad like Brilliance? I think that's the brand, my studio has been packed up and in storage. ☹️ Wonder about maybe rubbing some mica powder to hit the wrinkles before the wax? Walnut ink or crystals in the mix? I want to play! 😭
Personally, I liked the Birdie Darling before you put the foil on it, but it was beautiful afterwards too. But just in case the foil isn't enough the firs time, is it possible to glue foil onto wax or paper? Then spray a coating over it to adhere it? I'm trying to think of ways to place foil without the use of more wax. Thank you! Great video.
Yes I could have used a foiling glue but at this time I was more focused on experimenting with what the wax could and couldn’t do. Now that I have a better understanding, I can branch out with those embellishments. Thanks for watching and for the ideas!

It is a neat idea, but I wanted to hand you a small cheese grater to shredded the wax instead of using your scissors. Have a great day thank you for the great videos
I would have taken it from you!
I wonder what would happen if you used mica power….
I’m thinking a little fabulous would happen!

I guess it'll be ok to wrap your iron in aluminum foil to avoid to ruin it... ?? 🙂
Might be worth a try!

😀😀😀COOL😀😀😀!!!
Thank you Victor!
Monkey pox! LOL
Monkey, chicken, small… pick your pox! 😂
I feel like an idiot asking this question and scrolled thru hoping someone else had already asked. 🫣🤦🏼♀️🤣 Would you mind telling me what twinkle toes are? I googled it and found horse hoof polish and searched for it with your name on UA-cam and nothing again. I’d love to get/make some! Thank you and take care! ❤️
😁 You are not an idiot at all, I just failed to explain myself. I was referring to Twinkling H2Os. They are sparkly watercolors and I often stumble over the name so I just refer to them as Twinkle Toes!
