    Ive done a few different papers. The starch the Japanese use is also called Konjac Root. I have tried it, i cant remember the recipe. It did work. Mulberry paper is thin like tissue when done, very nice. The hand lotion paper is great. Using cooking oil for me, left alot seeping oils.maybe i used too much oils. But i let it dry between papers, then used those papers to make more momigami. It is very relaxing to do. Prestamped with archival inks black, turns it grey, but my image stayed very nice. I painted it with alcohol ink pens, then mounted on a scrap cereal box. The crackles in the background are excellent variations of colors. Thanks for the video. Your papers look great.Take care, be safe.

    Hey again Shannon, You may have noticed I refer to my "mojo" in the 3rd person. My "mojo's" been with me all my life. I'm a crafty GIRL, but the older I get I believe I've decided that my "mojo" may be a "He', only because "He" always wants to know "how much does that cost", He says "you'll never use that, use what you've got, that you haven't even opened yet" . "if you'd clean up your craft room, you might find the one you bought 20 yrs ago" When I was younger, my "mojo" never used to question the cost of things or any of my ideas. See what I mean, "He" needs a good kick in the pants every now and then !! Thanks for kicking "Him" in the derriere LOL Iris savedbygrace

    "If you happen to have the same affliction as I do, make peace with it." 🤣 When you said that, I thought, that's really what it comes down to, isnt it? I've loved paper ever since I was in first grade, when I bought my first Big Chief writing tablet with the special lined paper that helped you keep your letters nice and neat when you practiced printing or writing the alphabet. I love paper; papers of all textures, hands, and colors... there's so many things you can create with it. 🤩

    I woch video thet makes momigamy of any kinde of paper using vegitable oil.
    She use extra virgin oliv oil, but you can yous eny vegitable oil that you have.
    Rub in to your hans and then start rolin in the eges insade and the rast of paper and paper souks evry bit of oil from your hands. You repet thet many time and you will see how paper is changing.
    Only problem is thet is have to dray 10 to 14 days. Only reason why i didnt do it already is becouse i dont have space to dray for 14 days

    Loved that marbled peice you have been hoarding. Yup, I'd hoard that too. In fact, I'd hang it as artwork.
    Many american crafters seem to have adopted oil(olive, mineral, whatever) to do the momigami, which will compromise it in the long term, and make it non-archival and will damage anything else it comes into contact with (artwork, books, etc).
    The japanese use konjac/konkaku root starch in a jelly-like consistency and apply to the paper to strengthen it, by binding to the fibers and filling the space between the fibers. They use this for home decor, clothing, artwork etc. Aussie artists have adopted tapiocca powder to do the same thing. But you have to heat it to get that paste consistency.
    I'm going to try using matte medium on it. I have the konjac powder coming and can't wait.

    Hi Shannon :) Love how your paper turned out ! I can see that it would be a relaxing project from start to finish :) It tickled my "mojo". I love the crinkled texture, but my "mojo" was wondering if you could iron it?? The real Momigami paper looks smooth. Maybe the camera isn't picking up a subtle texture that I can't see. But just wondering about ironing it. Is the real Momigami meant to be wadded up and wrinkled as well ? Or leave it smooth obviously. Love the iridescent green!! Can you "tint" the polycrylic? The idea to use them as your art paper towels is fabulous! I'm going to do that too . I know the fun part is just getting in there and experimenting with all of our ideas. But I want to know what you think because there's probably not too much that you haven't tried or thought of when it comes to making a lowly piece of paper into something more than it is. I just love it. And thanks to you, Amazon is a little richer these days !! LOL I had to have a travel iron !! among other things. I loved the things you made with the collage fodder class. My mojo also just wondered if you can tint Daddy Van's "chime" ? Just a smidge?! It may be formulated in such a way that you can't incorporate anything into it, just things onto it. I love love love all of your ideas Shannon. Irissavedbygrace

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen  2 роки тому

      I believe the real momigami paper has been pressed flat but you can still see the crinkly texture. I’ve ironed some of mine, worked great! I don’t see any reason why Polycrylic and Daddy Van’s couldn’t be tinted. As always, thanks for watching!
