why is it called "side chain" and not simply "ducking"? or how can it be chained to an external incoming sound side by side with its internal processing?
Indeed I have. You've kind of exploded my mind in what this machine can do! Really very helpful and I can't thank you enough. I also have the Mpc Live which I received a few days ago. I do have a quick question if you could indulge. How would you connect the MPC to the MX-1 in order to sample all my other instruments?
Ah that's awesome - join the club! I love my MPC Live, and at the moment I connect my MPC Live to the MX-1 via input 5/6. When I want to sample instruments you can just connect them directly to the MPC Live. I guess you could also connect the MX-1 main output into the MPC live and record the entire mix - but I don't use mine this way. I usually record my entire mix on a Zoom H6. There's a few vids of me using the MPC Live with the MX-1 on my channel. I might just have to do a bit more indepth howto series ... but first I need to get more skilled on my MPC :)
ranzee av ah that's really helpful. I have seen a video of an Australian man connecting his roland 555 sampler with mx1 return and sends but didn't get around to trying this with my Toraiz SP-16 before I sold it for the MPC Live. Many thanks
Hi Max16032 :) It sure is - the fact that MX-1's Beat FX has a sidechain on it - means I'm not really making a lot of noise to Akai about putting sidechain FX on my MPC Live ;)

Thank for the vid!

Wow! Really enjoying this series. Thank you
Hi vixstar46! Thanks so much :) Have you watched Part 3 yet?
Unlike the master fx, the beat fx PER TRACK are actually useful to clean up the mix and duck the bass to make room for your kick.
