White Park Cattle were confined to parks in Henry VIII’s time, but in the end they were killed off and only a view pockets remained - Woburn Abbey and a few other herds left. They’ve definitely been on Countryfile. They’re an ancient breed. They look like they should be in Gainsborough paintings. There’s a society for these rare breeds.
Been a long time since I visited the Kent County Show. Should support my county more and certainly we now have a diary date for next year after seeing your video.
Having moved away from Kent ( from quite near to the Detling showground in fact) in 2008 this is such a nostalgia fest for me. The accents! Haynes! As a child my fave thing was to go round all the stalls collecting the freebies which often involved these little furry bug toys with googly eyes for some reason?!
so ive just discovered your videos, i must say you and your family are a credit to your country and to how your outlook on life is. i love the positivity and i hope you continue to enjoy your journey in our beautiful underrated country!
Love the video Mac. Unfortunately we were unable to get to our local show in Hampshire as I was working. There is the South Downs Show just a few miles up the road from us in the Queen Elizabeth Country Park but we were busy that weekend.
Thank you for sharing Mac and Blair and mum. Hope you don't leave it a year until you vlog again 😟Sending blessings to you and your beautiful family , much love ♥♥♥
If you like old cars or even fancy cars/motorbikes I think you would enjoy the Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil. I think its probably the biggest collection of its kind in the UK. Can take a good 3 or 4 hours to see everything
First time I've seen a County Show video. Reminds me a lot of County Fairs we have here in Southern Idaho and Northern NV. Do they have an equivalent of 4H there?
Wagons - horses used to pull wagons and carts with barrels of beer, sacks of coal, logs / kindling and anything heavy. Sometimes we had “rag and bone men”, basically collectors of second hand clothes and unwanted stuff, although once upon a time in the Victorian era they did collect bones, presumably for fertiliser. They used to come around the streets ringing a bell and shouting odd things (“Won’t be ‘round tomorrow! Donkey’s gone and done it again”, whatever that meant - Londoners! More conventionally they yelled something that was meant to sound like ‘rag and bones’ but didn’t sound like that at all.) They gave out balloons to children if parents gave them anything. In London and some towns you’ll still see the shire horses pulling huge elaborate beer carts with the horses done up to the nines with horse brasses, braids and plumes. There’s some famous London breweries that still retain shire shores. (Sometime you’ll get horse drawn funeral hearses too.) First time I’ve ever seen even a sign for Percherons - aka French heavy horses. Whitstable = you know that we don’t pronounce anything correctly. It’s “Witstubble’. Whitstable oysters are very famous in the UK. They used to be so cheap that they were the food of the poor. Not any more. Piles of oyster shells are found surrounding ancient people’s homes near beaches, particularly islands around Scotland. You’ll also see shells built into house walls and shells were also made into cement and whitewash. Our seafood now goes to the French, Irish or Spanish - or the Chinese, etc. Poor langoustines get ‘posted’ standing up on end in plastic pockets in trays on airplanes still alive in water. The French have kicked up a fuss now we’ve left the EU. British fishermen used to land crustacean catches for cleaning in the EU - we were encouraged to close down our own cleaning facilities to concentrate on those of the EU, so we don’t have any anymore. Now they (the French) say our crustaceans aren’t clean enough to even land in the EU any more and they must be clean before they reach the EU cleaning houses (or there’ll be a massive charge - same old) So, they’ve banned our crustaceans but they want their own fishermen to be able to fish for these fish and also the crab-like things. Some have invaded sites where large scale fishing and trawling is banned - like near piers and nature sites. When they catch them in our own British waters under the latest EU nonsensical divorce agreement, they then sell some of the fish back to us(!) You couldn’t make it up.
Just remember the naming rule: accent the first syllable hard and scrunch up the rest into a mumble, and ditch the final R. WHHITstbl. Famous for oysters.
Great to see Curly's farm there - they support people with disabilities to work in the day to day running of the farm.
What a beautiful family! Thank you for blessing us with your presence here in Britain. Good people such as yourselves make living here a pleasure.
Good to see you enjoying all these events. You've probably seen more over here than the average person from the UK 😅
You’re not wrong. 😂
Thankyou for taking me to all the county shiws, i have loved them since i was a child in Somerset. Have a wonderful family time ❤

The World Bogsnorkelling Championship is this month on the 27th in Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales. One of the famous wacky traditions. Very nice area too

Beer! Some breweries still use shire horses and carriages for pulling beer at promotional events.
FREE the animals !!!!
EAT the animals 🤤
Southdown sheep breed may be nearly as old as the USA. Bred from late 1700s.
Male goat is a billy. Female is a nanny.
But no Billy Goats Gruff.
I'm thinking that you absolutely love being in the 🇬🇧
A male goat is a Billy goat i believe.

Caister motor museum has a lot more cars and bikes but they are all static, well worth a visit.
@@joemorris5288 i just looked it up, Haynes has near on double and is the largest in the UK
I have been to both and Caister has more than Haynes@@wildwine6400

Male goat = Billy. As in the story, “Three Billy Goats Gruff”. Fable. Norwegian. Ancient. Troll. Suppose we got it from the Vikings.
You must have walked miles that day. Great video as you always do.
If you like vintage cars, you should try the Goodwood revival. It's great, lots of vintage cars racing.
Mum picked the winning sheep, please do the lottery 😂
My grandad had a horse pulling cart for selling milk back years ago.

Are you getting up to the Long Shaw International Sheepdog Trials near Sheffield 31st Aug to 2nd September?
I will try to make it... sound fun.
@@MacandBlair It is great, traditional farm workers skill at it's highest standard, with competitors from all over the world.
Oh c'mon Mac, you need to make them harder than that, a male goat is Billy or Buck, in Greman it's a Bock
🐐🤣
Can’t believe how quiet it is - Great Yorkshire is always wall to wall people 😫
Big Mac, you are looking buff- you lifting weights?!
💪🏽
I've said it before and I'll say it again - proper country people. More than make up for "certain" people in the American orbit.
Male goat = Billy.
🐐
What did you do with the other four kids?
School
No gloves handling food!
