great instructions! well done. For those who still have the detector chirping after you installed the battery, make sure that you remove the detector from the wall/ceiling before replacing the battery. I simply inserted a new battery while the detector was still attached and it kept on chirping. Remove the detector, insert battery, and re-install the detector
Thanks! It was driving me insane, I missing the first basic step
Thank you😊
Ok. How do you unplug it
I’m watching this at 3:30 in the morning. Thanks !
Thank you so much!!! This is a very helpful video! My daughter and I were trying to install a new battery in our smoke alarm, unsuccessfully. It was a very frustrating experience, and some bad words were said. We checked the company website, but that was not helpful. Then, we watched this video and were finally able to get our smoke alarm to stop chirping. Thank you very, very much!!!
Thank you for sharing quick and simple instructions to stop this annoying chirping.
The best video on this straight to the point and clear instructions.
Thank you x 1000 for this video!!!! I felt so stupid because I could NOT get the battery to go in and thought I was about to break the detector! My anxiety was at an all time high thinking I was about to die of CO2 poisoning but now I can finally go to sleep. 😴
I cannot get it loosened with the prongs. Is there a tool? I gotthe battery out and replaced.
Thank you! I couldn't get my battery to fit into it's place. Your video fixed that!!!
Fantastic video! Always happens when hubby is out of town. And now it’s beeping again…ugh
Thank you. Even with a flashlight, I couldn’t see a plus/minus. I had placed the battery several times and yet it kept beeping. I looked up the manufacturer’s installation guide and that didn’t discuss battery placement.
Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thanks for taking the time to show us how it’s done. However, I tried countless times to completely remove the smoke detector, identical to the one you have. It’s was installed at the time the house was built in 2015 and there’s no paint or any other small object stuck in there preventing it from turning counter clockwise. Do you have any tip on how to remove it? I have been able to remove others throughout the house (same model) but that one seems impossible. Thanks in advanced to you or who ever takes the time to reply.
THANKKKKS SO MUCH....us single women need tons of videos like this 😂👍🏾
Thank you a lot man I can finally sleep now
you have saved me twice now in three years. thank you!!
How are you getting the hardwire plug out of the alarm?
That's my question!
Two hands. I held the alarm in my left hand, while I grasped the wires in my right hand... then pulled hard with both hands, in opposite directions.
Quick question any indication that it’s working from the AC power of the house and when it’s drawing from back up battery I can kinda see a green light on the inside close to the test button. Would that green indicate it’s drawing from my home power ?
Thanks so much...usually if it is made of plastic I can break it....this helped
Can you just change the battery on the side easy or do you need to bring the whole unit down and then change the battery while its disconnected from the ceiling?
I would like to know this as well. Did you ever find out the answer?
@@Elliemaret yes all you do is pull out the little door on the side and change the battery... A friend showed me..It took like 30 seconds to do.... So easy a cave man can do it. 🤣
Thanks for the video. Clear and helpful!
You saved my sanity. Thank you.
Kara Griffith I’ve got some smoke alarm videos as well
You mentioned that you were going to show how you removed the detector itself but I didn't see it?
Great video except...I was hoping you would show how you disconnected the wires from the unit. I am an old woman trying to do it myself and I am not able to get the unit down. Big sigh...
same Vicki.
Same here!!
my husband and I are 78 and were able to do all of the steps except trying to get the piece back on the part on the ceiling. It is high up and I'm afraid one of us is going to fall off of the ladder. You made it look so easy. Please help.
I needed to see how to get the battery out!
I went through all this yesterday there was no way I could get it off the ceiling but I changed several batteries and it still would not work. I went online and found that I had to press the button to discharge something which made it beep a bunch of times. This still did not work when I reinstalled the battery so i turned off the fuse to this room and then pressed the button to discharge the detector, put the battery back in, turned on the power again and it finally stopped beeping. Mine are hardwired into the ceiling also. But in this video you are not turning the power off, is that because you disconnect the detector from the ceiling?
I’m going to try this. I can’t dislocate it
Yes! It worked! I didn’t know which was the alarm circuit breaker but I figured that out too! Yeah! It’s a win.
Where do those wires on ceiling come from?
I changed this exact one in my apartment and I noticed it was on the side of the wall and not the ceiling. It didn’t have the wires behind it to connect... will it still work? It’s in a back bedroom
Mines too.
Thanks a lot! Very well explained!
Thank you! The video is step by step and very detailed
Thank You!! Great Instruction!
Thank you so much. I was getting so frustrated!!!
Great help -- no manual on hand. Thanks!
Thank you!!! Could not see +/- on unit!
Will the alarm go off when you unplug the detector off the ceiling
So I really liked this and I successfully changed the battery and now it’s chirping
I changed 5 of them. Why did the first 3 when i pressed test button chime 4 plus 4 but the last 2 only chimed one chime any time i tested it? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
Video still works. Thanks!
Thanks Mucho, Dont have owners guide but your instructions were Top Drawer. :+)))
Excellent instructions
I did all the proper steps, it beeped accordingly with the new battery.
For some reason with a green light it still beeps every 30 seconds.
Any ideas?
My beeping was due to a faulty detector.
CognitiveDissonance it could be dusty or dirty causing a trouble chirp or Ac power may not be on. I’ve got a few videos if you want to check out
Very clear. Thanks.
Finally got it removed without tools. I was gripping the bottom half of the alarm and turning which wasn't working. You have to grip the top of the alarm and turn.
Thank you! I knew there was a way to get if off from the ceiling. I was afraid I was going to break it... 😂
i detached the smoke detector off the ceiling, but the chirping is coming off the base in the ceiling. Is that possible?
So I will recommend you turn off the circuit breaker and then change out the battery just like the tips guy says the it will beep and then go turn the power back on. I could not unplug the wire from the alarm.
No mention of green light once you replaced battery?
Btw there's a plastic pin keeping the battery door locked in place in some alarms. Pull out through the back and the door will open at easy as it did in the video.
Where is the plastic pin?
2:06 my alarm just started beeping. Not chirping. What does it mean? We don’t smell any fire. No one is cooking. Thank you
Very good.... thanks.👍
the beeping sound all I did was President twice and the beeping sound stop might want to try that trick noise is very annoying do not have to take the battery out
How the fuck do you remove the battery from the housing??? I can’t get it out
Thank you!
How do I know it working? The red light within doesn’t flash anymore, I’m not sleeping
You inserted the 9 volt battery too fast. Could barely see which sides were ➕ & ➖.
What do yoy do if it goes off whwn you take the cover off?!
If the red light is blinking of the same smoke detector what does it mean?
Whoever designed this should be brought up on charges for crimes against humanity. Trying to get the battery back into that slot after taking the old one out is ridiculous.
,,be carful if the batery lower it makes High volume alarm. Eaven at 02 morning. It happen to us. Big histetrya at home.
You should have mentioned before disconnecting any wires to turn the smoke detector off in the circuit breaker. 🤔
Thank tou
Never showed us safest way to detach from power
What’s with the hard wires? Is that needed?
That’s so they all beep in case of fire. So if you’re asleep in a different room when a fire breaks out, all the alarms throughout the house will sound. The individual chirping is just for battery change.
I can't get the wire to come off
Thanks inserting the battery is a pain n the rear
This dude put a link for a 9V battery!
OMG Help please, how come I can't detach it at all. How come you can turn so easily. Mine is not turnable at all..Please help
You made this a real science project this takes 1 minute to do smh
After I took the device off the ceiling I realized that the beep was coming from the hole in the ceiling... help?
I am in this situation right now, what did you do?
I really wish they’d indicate which direction to insert the battery.
This is what I’m gonna do when I have a house with the stairs on when I have kids with smoke detectors and kitchens even when I have a girlfriend too
Anyone ran into a scenario where the beeping is coming from the ceiling and not the detector itself? I replaced my detector with a new one hoping it stops the 5 beeps but to no avail. Anyone?
The only thing I can think of is you have a backup power source in the ceiling or it's hard wired in somehow. I've never heard of this very strange, hopefully someone can answer and help out.
The newer ones like this have a LOCKED battery compartment! Stupid design by First Alert! you have to dig the "pin" out and then the latch will allow the door to open. DO AWAY WITH THE PIN!
Mine won't pop open
You have to test before you lock the battery back in. Simply press and hold the reset button and wait for the alarm to go :
3 beeps pause 3 beeps
4 beeps pause 4 beeps
Yeah, still beeping every 30 mins. It will do like 5 beeps all over my house. Can't figure it out.
At least it's not every 30 seconds!!
First 2:30 is garbage. Just get to the point. Sheesh!
Simple instructions. Why couldn't it say that on the smoke detector? Smh
These low batteries always go off in the middle of the night, I s2g.
I can't get my battery out and you didn't even show that! Grrrrrr
These batteries are complete junk. If the battery is basically dormant, cause there’s no light on the device and nothing really powering the device up. So how in the hell are the batteries depleting.🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤯
I replaced the battery and it still won't stop chirping
Just put new batteries in mine and still beats
David Vang make sure ac power is connected properly. I’ve got some videos as well on the topic
@@RichTones ill look up the video and the ac power is on correctly
I let mine chirp till it died I can’t deal with anything like this
my sons birthday is on jul 5
Moore Ruth Jones Lisa Moore Jose
Good luck trying to get that battery back in there if u dont take it off the ceiling. Stupidest design of all time.
