@@MikeGreenwood51 The given you're starting with here is the key to understanding. The prosecution sought to prove that the money was not a legal expense at all. In other words, they set out to show that it was intentionally labeled as legal expenses to conceal its true purpose. Intuitively, it's kind of hard to understand how this couldn't be the case. We'd either have to believe that Cohen paid the $150,000 out of the goodness of his heart and decided not to tell his boss, or we'd have to believe that Trump wouldn't care at all about voters hearing the story, but that he _would_ care desperately about his wife hearing it. If you think about it, both of those possibilities are pretty hard to imagine. Trump is smart, and any intelligent person is going to guess that a story like that just before the election could change some votes. And it also seems pretty far-fetched to believe that Cohen would pay that kind of money out of pocket and then try to sneak it past Trump, putting himself at risk when Trump signs the checks. Surely it's more likely to expect that Cohen would want his boss to see what he's doing for him. But of course, the "common sense" assumption in this case isn't enough. So what the prosecution did was show the paper trail, show Trump's voice call about a very similar story, and show Trump's interest in controlling information that would damage his campaign. That's how they approached taking this case from something that just felt like "common sense" to "substantiated common sense."

If anything, they may revoke his bail at some point or at least add severe restrictions. He has never been compliant - and NOT paid fines either! During the trial his conduct was appalling.

Cohen lied to Congress to protect himself. It had zero to do with Trump. And that is one reason Cohen testified against Trump - he didn't get a pardon or a spot in his cabinet.
