I was in the seventh grade and I remember watching JC after school. I can remember his final episode on Who Do You Trust just before he went to The Tonight Show. The audience was collectively yelling don't go. That was in 1962. I, also, saw his last episode of the Tonight Show 30 and 1/2 years later. Now, even that was 23 years ago. Life really is short.
Susie Lander,' Mine too. I remember helping my dad with his lines (I was about 8 or 9 years old and ). I think they gave them a kind of script so the contestants wouldn't go blank when they went on the air. I wish I could find the segment but, so for, it's not on UA-cam.
This appeared on ABC's daytime schedule at 3:30pm(et)- right in the middle of "AMERICAN BANSTAND"!!- at the time this originally aired on May 27, 1958. Bill Nimmo was Johnny's announcer; he left that summer, and Ed McMahon replaced him.
Yeah, evolving technology. I was a teenager at the time, but you know no matter how good that era seemed, it was missing the most important thing - the internet. I still prefer today to the way things were back then. The internet was a game changer.
I just looked up "Who Do You Trust" over at Wikipedia. They said that the show was called "Do You Trust Your Wife" from January, 1956 - July 1958. Edgar Bergan hosted until September, 1957 and then Johnny Carson took over. The article said that they changed the name to "Who Do You Trust" in July of '58. That info being correct, I now know when my parents were on the show (since they were on "Do You Trust Your Wife" with Johnny and Ed McMahon ). It was aired during the Easter vacation so, the show they were on was recorded about a week earlier at the end of March, 1958 . Cool. Been wondering that for years.
@@regalbeaute1 Thank you for being happy with me my friend:) I've been trying to find that episode but, I imagine there are only a few around. I watched all the ones here on YT and a few on another website. I was at the show with them in '58. I was 9years old and, I helped my parents rehearse their lines and then, we took a Checker Cab to Horn and Hardart's afterwards. It was quite a big deal to me. I remember imagining that they'd put the camera on me when my parents said they had 3 children since, I was in the audience. I was all ready to break out into: "I've Got you Under My Skin" (by Cole Porter.) I rehearsed it in the bathroom for weeks! They didn't though:). Children and their great imaginations.
My grandparents were on 3 episodes of this show in 1958-1959 (Johnny Carson was host). My gradnma is currently 95 years old and has asked me to try to find the episodes she was on. Does anyone have ideas where I could access more of these? Not finding much info anywhere online. Thank you. It would mean the world to her to make this happen.
I love these classic television series - and I'm only 23

I came up with a date of April 15, 1958 based on the westerns advertised at the end.
