"Highbrow" from the same OST is a must react-to. A 10 minute long prog rock final boss theme on par with masterpieces like Dancing Mad. Motoi Sakuraba delivers.
So glad you picked up on that little nugget during the solo. I'm glad I requested this 😁
Yes! Finally someone reacted to this theme. THis boss battle theme was awesome, its also the only fight that has this boss theme only.
This is actually one of my favorite tracks off the soundtrack when listening to it you have to fight a dragon and that's when you hear this music for the first time there are a lot of varieties and genres of music in the soundtrack but you have to listen to the whole soundtrack
Fly Away in the Violet Sky! Fly Away in the Violet Sky! Fly Away in the Violet Sky!
The bass in that song needs to be heard by all.
Star Ocean 3 had some bangers!
Probably my favorite ost from Sakuraba❤
Best soundtrack for Star Ocean hands down
Too bad the game utterly ruined the franchise for me.
Oh, I missed this one! This game was one of my favorites to play when I was younger. This song and the fight it plays for are so good.
Love me some classic Motoi Sakuraba and his weird track titles.
Hoping for some SO: The Second Story and Valkirye Profile in the future.
There is debate on whose theme this is but if you focus on the music the answer is right there. This song even explains the situation really well. It's not just an epic rock song - it's a song telling a story through music.
I don't want to spoil anything related to the game but in order to ride a dragon, warriors have to beat it into submission called an ascension trail. Success is low and most attempting the trail end up dead. This song is played during a battle with a dragon in order to gain permission to ride.
My favorite game of all time (haha get it?)... man this really takes me back. Thanks for another great reaction!!!
Within the first minute I was just "yep that's a Sakuraba song" He definitely has some signature flairs :D
I’ve played this game before. I still have my ps2 disc. I don’t remember the music, but this was badass. Loved it. Also thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge!
Glad to see a really new video about a game i played 20 years ago! This game has a great soundtrack and i really encourage you to listen to it all. Its got so much heart and soul!
Wait, I thought 2004 was like 10 years ago. I feel old.
I requested this song months ago on one of your videos! Woohoo! Thank you!
Sakuraba also did the Baten Kaitos track! Progrock is one of his bread and butter genres, so look forward to that! I don't know if he's usually the guitarist in his tracks, but he HAS been the keyboardist for his stuff numerous times!
Chrysanthemum in the Winter will always be my favorite star ocean track. Phenomenal. A melancholy beautifuly grasped.
The Desolate Smell of Earth, which sounds different, also has these properties.
This first plays while fighting a dragon king at a major point in the story
Man, this was my song growing up as a teen. I loved listening to game soundtracks prior to playing SO3, but it's clear that Motoi Sakuraba was cooking up bangers in 2003. "Divine Spirit of Language" is among his best tracks to this day and really put soul in the game. There are other themes that are great in the series like "Influence of Truth's Appearance" and SO4's "Don't Be a Hero", but this is top notch hype!
*whispers* mission to deep space, mission to deep space, mission to deep space
Star Ocean OSTs from 1 to 2 are very similar to FF musically. SO3 (this one) and beyond all have calm or majestic orchestral pieces mixed in with jazz, or rock pieces like this one, it's somewhat unique
It's been WAY too long since I played this, can't remember what section this is from I wanna say the final dungeon though after the huge mindscrew that is the plot twist (still one of the best EVER in an RPG)
God I love Star Ocean, and I am SO HAPPY that The Divine Force is actually good.
Albel’s theme
@@Allan008 oh of course, my favorite character to boot. Now I feel extra stupid
Sakuraba did the music for Golden Sun as well, also Valkyrie Profile
ah star ocean TTEOT a game within a game indeed one of the best there was and some of the ost are bangers
Yoooo my favorite song from my favorite old game :D
The Divine Spirit of Language shows up twice in Star Ocean 3:
1st time, it's as Albel's themesong, when he makes his entrance as a badass warrior.
2nd time, it's to beat the planet's largest dragon into submission, as boss battle music.
It remains glued in my brain as an epic fight song ever since I was 14. Fun to hear your thoughts! No idea what the title actually means...a lot of Sakuraba's song titles make no sense lol, especially in SO3
Just did more Star Ocean this week that will be uploaded a little later, good times with SO.
Cutting Edge of Motion live version next?
Oh man this game. There's one part I've been stuck on since i first played it. One day...maybe I'll download it again.
Do you remember what part it was?
Love your videos man, great analysis as always and great reactions. I know it might be a longshot and it's not "technically" a song directly from a game but it would be awesome if you could check out Demetori - Emotional Skyscraper ~ World's End, an arrangement of a song from the game Touhou 12, I think you''ll probably love it.
Anyways, keep up the good work!
Mission to deep space from Sakuraba is also a banger
My childhood has entered the chat
Really enjoyed SO3 when I was a kid
I loved SO3. I did not mind the whole 4th dimension thing. But I just wish they made the game much more longer. Since integrating the events and storyline and plot into the whole 4th dimension thing is a huge thing lol. But other than that, i loved the storyline, characters, dialogue and battles in Star Ocean 3. It was so hype back then and the storyline was so good.
i just played star ocean till end of time on ps4 the digital version, i remember playing it year's ago on ps2 aswel. someone was saying if you load up the clear save it will allow you to do post game things like maze of tribulations and the 211 floors with lot's of tough super bosses but i think i'll need to level up a fair bit for that.
The Divine Spirit of Language, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! One of my favorite songs from my very first RPG, I'm screaming, wtf LMAO
Not made by square, publishers just always like to place their company name on the front cover and hide the actual devs (tri-ace) somewhere on the backside, publishers name always pop up first too when you start the game.
Hell yea one of my faves
OMG ITS HERE
And then madlad Motoi Sakuraba goes and makes the stellar Dark Souls OST, which could not be more different.
yo Sakuraba is a fuckin god
Sakuraba
You hear this the first time you fight Crossell. Big dragon!
I think the song is maybe referencing the concept of speaking through combat. (looked it up to remind myself, this was a character's battle theme who refuses negotiations and forces your hand to beat him into submission and prove your worth. So yeah checks out.) Speak with the language of fist.
This is the Sakuraba that I enjoy. I used to like Sakuraba more back in SO3. I feel bad that I feel his music has gotten far more homogenous and he does the OSTs for like 75% of JRPGs I play so I feel like it was inevitable. Most of his songs hit that "orchestral sludge" and I feel like ive been listening to the same songs for 20 years despite it being in completely different games. All the 6+ Star Oceans, All the 17+ Tales of, 3 Dark Souls, 8 valkyrie profile, Golden Sun, Honestly all of Tri Ace's output I think, list goes on.
Enough with being a downer though, this is the OST I listened to alot of his back then. I'm a bit interested in the music he's going to making with Michiko Naruke ( Wild Arms) and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) for Eiyuden Chronicles. He's still capable of that creative spark and I want to hear more of it.
At least he did a bangup job in the divine force
I get that you were exaggerating to make a point but there’s definitely not 8 Valkyrie Profile games out there. I wish there were though.
@@AutumnSteven I wont lie I wasnt sure how many so I just counted all the valkyrie games that were listed on wikipedia. So i didnt COMPLETELY pull it out of my ass. Tales of number I pulled from a google search.
@@anastasianuan1680 No worries either way. There may be 8 if you count ports and remakes in the total. And I definitely agree with your original point about the orchestral sludge. I think it’s true for a lot of video game soundtracks at this point. It all sounds “good enough” without being memorable.
Now that Sonic Frontiers is out we need to see him react to “Undefeatable”
Break Through It All I'd like to see as well
@@ThatSneakman Find you're flame man
@@Unreal_debil I'm not there yet but I heard that one's the best of the bunch
Everyone and their mother are probably going to ask you to react to this but it's gonna be an obvious one.
"Undefeatable" from Sonic Frontiers. Pretty hype song.
More Enix than Square, but yes.
I played the first one on SNES, and have fond memories of that game. One day I will play the others.
From Sakuraba I prefer his piano tracks. But that of course is personal preference.
Sonic Frontiers "Undefeatable" please!!
React to Serious Sam 3 Ost - Hero (the one whit vocals) please!
Day 2 of requesting "Undefeatable" from sonic frontiers.
Also if you do listen to it, check the 4 minutes version, not the 2 minutes one.
Dude you should react to "Undefeatable" from Sonic Frontiers a game that just came out with OST being compared to MGR and Devil May Cry 5
Hello friend it has been a while.
Just wanted to throw out that Star Ocean actually came from a group of developers that were originally a part Enix but left Enix to form a different company Tri-Ace. Many of the developers were upset with Enix after making the first Tales Of game, Tales of Phantasia and left Enix for the desire for more creative freedom and their creation became Star Ocean.
Please, don't badmouth Enix for things they didn't do!
The people who became tri-Ace were part of the studio that developed Tales of Phantasia called Wolf Team owned by a larger game dev company called Telenet Japan, and shopped around for a publisher with Namco deciding to do it. The tri-Ace founders left Wolf Team due to arguments in the studio over the development of ToP, Enix only entering the picture when they went looking for a publisher for their first game, Star Ocean. Enix continued publishing all their games until it merged into Square Enix, and they continued to exclusively publish through them for a few years before they started going to other publishers too. Square Enix is still their primary publisher, though. The latest Star Ocean was published by them just in November!
Can you do A Whisper from quantum break
I find it a sin that Jesse hasnt listen to any metal hellsinger ost but all sinners can be redeemed
Man we need MORE persona musics
Recommendation: can you react to Fogbeast battle from Xenoblade Chronicles? It a crazy banger!
How has nobody recommended any Ys music? He’d love that shit lol
Done xD
React to ‘Undefeatable’ from Sonic Frontiers! Like so Jesse will see this and hopefully do it!
