My man is in for a treat with the remaining Bloodborne and Elden Ring tracks, yet he still has the other souls games to look into especially Dark Souls 3.
It's such an emotional fight. He is essentially your mentor throughout the game. Gehrman felt lonely, lacking purpose after his workshop for hunters was closed down and replaced by the Healing Church's order of hunters. He eventually went on to seek contact with a Great One (Lovecraftian Alien God-ish being). One of his student's, and his love was a woman named Maria, of which he created a doll. When the Great One descended, the 'Pale Moon Presence', Gehrman was trapped in a dream, with the intent for him to guide countless hunters all in the common goal of killing another Great One. The doll became animated to act as his one and only companion, but in time the doll only made Gehrman's lonliness even more evident. When the dreams purpose has finally been fulfilled, he asks you to accept your own death in order to sever your conciousness from the dream. You can then choose to reject his offer, something Gehrman perceives to be a decision made by bloodsoaked madness and pits his will against yours in a one on one fight to the death. All in order to free you from becoming a victim to the same fate he suffered. All that being said, this track is my personal favorite because of how it encompasses this tradgedy that is Gehrman's fate.
@@blankbrim nah I appreciate the lore since I was left clueless after finishing Bloodborne and I don't feel like watching 30 minute videos explaining the lore 😅
"What was it," you ask me? It was neither the Hunt, nor the Blood, nor the Dream. It was the Insight... the Insight that you've sacrificed yourself and suffered for so very, very long for the sake of everyone else... But I can take it, Old Hunter. I am still young compared to you. My heart and mind are unburdened compared to yours. And when the time comes and I, too, am driven to despair by this horrible, wonderful dream, I will look for a successor to take my place... But for now, I know we must dance. Because I know that even though you long for release, and even though I am willing to sacrifice myself for your sake, you cannot allow me to take your place and suffer your torment... So come, Old Hunter. I invite you to dance this last waltz with me... and then, sleep... sleep, unburdened by dreams and nightmares... Free of torment. Free of sins. Free of suffering. Free of cretins. Free of sorrows and free of tomorrows. Free like the sparrows, leaving their shadows...
This track is so beautiful and heartbreaking. My favorite track in all FromSoft's games and arguably one of the best compositions put to game. Thank you for checking it out.
FromSoft music is about the enemy you are fighting or the place you are in. Much like an opera or a lament, it is a story through music about their life or motivations. This particular battle is one where neither wants to win, and are fighting for the other. Gehrman himself has a deep history here, and even if you don't know most of it by the time you reach him, you understand what feelings are being conveyed. As you might be recommended: [Laurence the First Vicar], [Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower], alongside [Ludwig the Accursed and The Holy Blade] are all masterful.
"The only fight where you don't want to kill the boss" 🫠😭 Venator Ah mi supra venata Anima tor feci si vre re mal Venare insidiosus Mira tenebrarum Hic sic scitis miserere aeterna😭
The First Hunter is my favorite soundtrack of the whole series. Bloodborne has breathtaking OSTs, with my third and fourth favorites being ”Laurence The First Vicar“ and ”Living Failures“. Those are absolutely amazing. As my number two I’d rank ”The Twin Princes“ from Dark Souls III. It’s also really worth listening to. Keep up the nice work!
Laurence the First Vicar, and Maria of the Astral Clocktower, are the 2 best remaining tracks you need to listen to for sure. But there are more, Living Failures is highly underrated and one of my favs, Cleric Beast is kind of a version of Laurences theme, but just as amazing and quite diffrent, and the most unexpected track from this game, listening to all the others, is The Hunter for me. Yes, not "The First Hunter", but another track thats called "The Hunter". The literal feeling of terror in song form.
I like Ebrietas OST but imo there are better/more complex ones to listen to first. Besides the breathtaking ending I find it rather monotone in comparison to other soundtracks.
@@Lekfc pretty much every OST soulsborne has to offer is amazing. It just comes out to opinions on which ones you like more. In the end is no wrong choice haha.
I once heard a comparison between Dark Souls music and Bloodborne music. “If Dark Souls themes are a triumphant choir signaling a hero’s return, then Bloodborne’s music is a sea of drowned souls, heralding the end of time.” And I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more apt comparison. I mean, listen to Orphan of Kos’ theme and you’ll understand.
Note that the Bloodborne soundtrack doesn't use a made up language like their other games. They are using latin, with some pronounciation changes for musical effect.

you didnt have to give the entire game lore damn 😭just 1 or 2 sentences describing the stakes of the fight wouldve been enough bro

A fight with your mentor, where the winner loses and the loser wins.
Whatever happens... this is the two of you saying goodbye to each other.

Gehr is the man
always a good day when the violins come in lol
my guy just experienced an eargasm
Bloodborne might actually be the best OST ever made. Every song is unique and beautiful in their own way
LADY MARIA
Hey my man, how about you react to "Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower", or "Laurence the First Vicar" next?
Up
Lady Maria, Laurence and Dark Souls 3 Main Theme are my picks! great video!
Hey, you should check Orphan of Kos, Living Failures or Queen of The Vilebloods
Orphen is a masterpiece of art ost
Glad to see that you're enjoying bloodborne, you should also check out "Ebrietas, daughter of the cosmos" and "Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower"
I like Ebrietas OST but imo there are better/more complex ones to listen to first. Besides the breathtaking ending I find it rather monotone in comparison to other soundtracks.
That's understandable, I was just suggesting some good pieces to start off with since there's a lot of good ones

@mt2r-music But the Intro for ebrietas is the best part of the track wdym?
Bloodborne - Terror. Listen it!
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, it's an absolutely restless piece that will stress the fu*k out of you ..

A fight between hunters. You and the sad old man trying to save you from becoming him
