I do have some unique sexual interests, but that is an entirely separate facet of my life from my enjoyment of MLP. +Bud Charles I agree with the gender roles part, but for anyone, girl or boy above let's say age 18, it becomes really weird because there are literally tons of better quality and well written shows out there, cartoons even. This is like a kids cartoon, even spongebob doesn't have this kind of devoted fanbase, and it's a way more clever kids show. It's crazy.
I remember this show. I remember this fandom from when I was about 11 back in 2012. I remember watching my friend Tommy watch the show figuring, how the hell is he watching a show for little girls? What was he thinking? Then I decided to give it a go. I was honestly surprised by the storyline, the on par broadway songs and how deep it is and how seriously they took it. It isn't some cutie. glittery happy all the time sugarcoated girly show that you would expect out of My Little Pony. This was a mad science experiment. The seasons and episodes felt very chronological, like one continuous timeline, an evolution from start to end. It broke age and gender barriers and it taught me that it is acceptable to be a little different, because the best things can come from the strangest and unexpected places. Being a musician with autism, there is a range of inspiration with this show considering the genius musicianship of Daniel Ingram. This was the first show that brought me to my first online fan forum chat site, my first introduction to fan conventions and my first trip to Maryland, (Bronycon, 2013), and it further taught me to become more original about myself. Words cannot describe it. It was a phenomenon I'd never forget.

I'm not a brony, but I have been watching the show recently. It is a pretty good show. I'm not crazy about it though. I do really hate how the news anchors portray bronys as being being weird or predatory. Who cares if these guys like MLP a shitload. What would be better? Going to a strip club or bar for fun? Because that's what normal people do right? This one guy only spent $400 dollars on MLP merch too. That's not even bad. I have friends that will go to the strip club and spend $200 in one night, and the news doesn't even bat an eye. Because that's normal right? I think the reasons people dislike or hate Bronies is the because of how odd the concept it, and it's something that goes hand in hand with internet culture. It's completely foreign and undoubtedly weird, why do older people identify with this show, then fantasize or create their own Brony like identity and self online. I mean, there's conventions for this thing, where people dress up as ponies, sell and buy pony art and attire even do like this fucking weird fashion pony show thing, one could argue this is no different to something like Comic-con I'll let you guys decide on that one. Another reason Bronies are so hated is because they tend to push their "fandom" onto other people, not all, but some, this can just fuck people off plain and simple. I personally can't stand it, in fact, I don't understand it, it makes no sense to me, what makes MLP so appealing?, I've watched it before, and it just felt like any old children's cartoon. What makes people want to dress as Bronies?, to go to Brony clubs, to go so far as to make explicit "Brony" content (note not every Brony does this). For the lack of a better word Bronies seem creepy at best, it isn't an attractive concept nor is it something that makes a whole deal of sense, you can try to define it, or justify it, but in the end this whole Brony thing is a huge collection of people who watch and engage in the My Little Pony children's cartoon, nothing wrong with liking a children's cartoon, just becomes quite odd when make your own little pony avatar, purchase MLP merchandise, become obsessed with it (not all bronies) and go so far as to attend these odd little brony conventions and clubs. Sorry this is just my opinion.

I dislike how people outside of the MLP fan base tend to think that all Bronies are perverted or mentally unstable, I met several people - friends to a lesser extent - who thought that I was sexually attracted to the characters of the show and create explicit content about them.l, I explained to them that I enjoy the show because of the generally positive message that it carries and that the in-show history of Equestria and its neighbors is so poorly explained that I would rather create a more in-depth lore of the characters and events, rather than make masturbatory material for the more rabid fans. Surprisingly, they listened, and didn't question me about it further, they know me well enough to also know that I probably wouldn't submit to the Brony mantra because I believe humans are incapable of respecting each other without being driven to violence and are unable to tolerate others even if the other person shares the same ideology as the former.

There's nothing wrong with being a Brony. In fact most people who criticize bronies haven't even watched the show. They're going off what they know from the previous generations of MLP, which is absolutely nothing like G-4. Sure the show is still for younger female audiences, does that mean you can't watch it and enjoy it? No. MLP is an great show that IMO both genders can enjoy and truly learn something from no matter what the age. Also, being a brony doesn't make you less a man or even gay. In fact statistics show that over 80% of bronies are heterosexual not homosexuals, they're even bronies who have served in the military! Some people know this stuff and still hate bronies, but who cares? It's their loss. Bronies are a amazing group of guys and I'm proud to be apart of them.

Watching my Little Pony is like watching any othere anime and on the plus side the animation on my little pony is the best i have ever seen in most adult cartoons or shows, this includes most animes. I am a brony yes, but it's kind of ridiculous how much people buy all the merch. To own one or two things is alright, but to go all out is kind of weird obsessing over something. And I find it ridiculous how the reporters are actually saying at the end that they should pick something "more socially acceptable to feel less isolated" but why should one pick something if it truly isn't who they are or like? You don't see people picking on star wars fans, even the ones who are die hard fans, the only difference with these two are that one has a brighter color scheme. Despite the target audience, it's like saying grown men can't enjoy Pixar and Disney movies, it's ridiculous :/
It's all about preference when it comes to collecting merch. I, myself, love to collect merch of anything I like. It's just fun. I have tons of anime and manga merch. It can get overwhelming, but it's still tons of fun. :) It also can be a profitable investment. Take Pokemon for example. I collected TONS of Pokemon merch over the span of 11-12 years. When I started to become less interested in the franchise, I began selling my stuff to other Pokemon collectors and, trust me, it was quite profitable. It still is, in fact. I recently sold a big box of Pikachu stuff for $200. Let's not forget the fact that trading is a lot of fun, too.
But, like I said, to each their own. Every fan is different. Buying lots of merch doesn't mean you're obsessed. It just means you like collecting stuff from a show you like. Obsession would lead to hoarding and other psychological problems.
Once the FiM franchise begins to die down, I'll probably start selling my goods to other diehard fans.

I will say one thing, and then I'll be done. Who are we to judge other people on what they like? Yes, they like MLP, yes it was made for children, and yes it's a bit different than what we are used to, however, we are living in a changing society. Instead of children playing with toys all of the time, they are going into more war games, and genres that they feel are more interesting. If someone is happy with this, and it has changed their lives, why not? Yes, there are some who take it too far, but just think about what you absolutely love, and consider that with these Bronies of the current generation. The show itself is very nice, and if you do not enjoy hearing about it, or seeing references towards it, why get involved? Treat others they way you wish to be treated, and the world would be a much more pleasant place. Thank you!

Tbh, I had really, really bad experience with Bronys. Seriously , It was really...disturbing. I don´t even like this Show. But the Problem is here: Its not fucking everyone. I know a bunch of Girls & Boys who likes the Series, but are absolutley disgusted by the Peepz with this "Pony Porn". They watch the Series and The End. There are really weird People out there, but its in every Fandom. (sad but true) Just here its a lil more known and more widespread. So Guys, not everyone! There is a difference between Fans and Hardcore-WTF-Fans.
I think sometimes something comes along that's really good and it gets a lot of fans.

You know what, I was liking this video. I liked that they were joking at first and then made a decent, enjoyable and accurate short documentary video. Then they started talking again... and my god I hit the dislike button (bear in mind I can never be asked to dislike anything, generally I just stop watching and move on). I mean come on... oh if you get bullied at school and don't have many friends and watch my little pony?? well cut that shit out right now! Go watch football or do something "more sociably acceptable"! Who cares is you don't like sports or batman, you need to do everything or your power to confine to societies rules and laws! Screw individuality and screw what you like! Also I wouldn't leave my 3 year old daughter with a stranger either (whether they watch MLP or not). But what shes saying is that if her husband suddenly started liking MLP then well... thats that you can't look after our daughter anymore.. WHAAAT? See this is the reason a lot of bronies keep the fact they like the show a secret, because of stupid, childish reactions like this. And it is childish because what they are saying is 'we don't know what this is or why people like it. So because we don't understand it, we don't like it!'
Little advice to 'closet bronies' out there, tell someone. I just recently told people at work and they were a bit surprised, but all in all they accepted it and moved on (one even said she liked my MLP music).
So yeah... sorry just had to get that off my chest.

Me personally I hate my little pony and im not a fan of the entire phenomenon of the "brony" but the thing the newscaster said at the end where he said "pick something socially acceptable" really annoyed me. Sure Im not a fan but who is he to judge what people like and dislike and since when does he decide what is socially acceptable and just because someone likes a show that is not necessarily aimed at an adults does not make them a "predator" like he insinuated. Does that mean in 20 years time when these kids who watch cartoons or anime and they decide to watch them again are predators? I still watch shows I watched when I was younger e.g. anime like dragon ball z from time to time because I enjoy it and im 22

First of all I am genuinely asking and not trying to get anything started. But why? Specifically towards males. Why like a show to the point o fandom espeically about a show for little girls. Buying toys and all of the other merchandise. What about it makes it so interesting. I just can't help but find it very immature and almost obnoxious that ADULT men will be fans of a show like this. I understand it is cool to be diverse, but at a point the reason for being an adult is to grow up. I cannot have repsect for someone who is 13+ to be male and be a fan of this. I get it that "I don't have to follow social norms" and all, but why? Just why EVERYTHING! Let me remind you im not bashing on the fanbase, this is coming from someone who truly does not understand.
I have nothing wrong with people watching the show, ive watched it( and enjoyed it) a few times. Its when people get weird about it and start making porn and getting Waifu pillows of ponies and write erotic fan fics about fucking horses that it starts getting wierd

I am a casual Brony. I do not own any merch (yet) and I only watch the show. I don't try to make people watch the show, but ask them to watch it before they form an opinion on it. Their opinion needs to be justified.
It's not a stereotype to say that it's a girls show. Everybody knows that, and it is promoted as such. So yes, a grown man liking a show designed, written and produced for little girls is illogical. Not that you have to watch sports, either. I don't.

I causally watch the show i dont go around with pony shirts and stuff thats just asking for trouble but my girlfriend got interested in the show cause of me and its something we like together. the CLOPPERS ruined the image of this fandom. bronies are no different than liking star wars star trek anime etc.
