- In this video we continue working with quadratic expressions that have a leading coefficients different than 1. In this video I explain a nice diagram to make this factoring easier.

I like the AC method better where you multiply the leading coefficient of A with constant term of c, and find the factors of that number like 2x^2+7x+3 2*3=6 2 numbers that add up to 7 and multiply to 6 are 6 and 1 it becomes 2x^2+6x+1x+3 factor out 2x and 1 and you get 2x(x+3)+1(x+3) and your 2 solutions are (2x+1)(x+3) that also adds up to the middle number, and then replace the middle term with those 2 x terms, and then factor by grouping. That's another way to do it that's less "luck" based.

Now this kind of expression is difficult how can you know that they want to find the number in between as the answer after solving?
You can always check your answer by multiplying the two () to see if you get what you started with.

After Factoring =(3X+2) (x+2)=0 (3X+2)=0 3X=-2 x=-2/3 (x+2)=0 x=-2 so x=-2/3 or -2 Ans

Factoring Quadratic Expression: 3x² + 8x + 4
3x² + 8x + 4 = (y² + 8y + 12)/3 where y = 3x
Facroring using THE Po-Shen Loh-Method: y² + 8y + 12:
SUM: (p + q) + (p - q) = 8 ⇔ p = 4
PORDUCT: (4 + q) × (4 - q) = 12 ⇒ q = 2
(p - q) = 2
(p + q) = 6
y² + 8y + 12 = (y + 2)(y + 6)
3x² + 8x + 4 = (3x + 2)(3x + 6)/3
3x² + 8x + 4 = (3x + 2)(x + 2)
