    Thank you! At last some advise on what to do! Everyone is always telling you what you have or what it is but not telling you how to help yourself get better.

    When having 3 children I learned how coitus, childbirth and breastfeeding all cause pelvic contraction and release female hormones. So maybe the fact that I breastfed my children for a total of 10 years (the first for 13 months, the other two for four and a half years each - in response to their wishes, not mine -) resulted in my having only a very slight bladder and uterus prolapse at age 74, with no incontinence or other symptoms. One male gynae was very keen to give me a hysterectomy and cover my bladder with a mesh that had already ruined 200 women's lives, but I declined. A pessary resulted in slight incontinence upon every change by a local surgery nurse, so in the end I left it in for 2 years, and only when I saw a consultant was I told that this could have required surgery to remove it. Fortunately all was well, I just had it removed at age 76 and been fine since. All I want now is these exercises. Lesson: don't let them cut you up while paying lip service to exercise. Go for it. This advice from Jilly is precious.

    This is so helpful; thank you! I have one question. Should we do the repeated fast ones in between each of the longer held ones? Or do we complete all reps of the longer held ones and then do one set of the fast ones? It looks like this video is a few years old so I’m hoping you’re still reading comments! I just had a baby 10 weeks ago and am trying to find a pelvic floor physio but can’t find one in my area. Finding your videos has been so incredibly helpful! You explain things so much more clearly than anyone else I’ve seen. Thank you!! 🙏🏻

    I can only hold for 4 seconds !! 😥I have over active bladder, bladder pain syndrome and atrophic vaginitis !!!! 😥

    • @jillybond1502
      @jillybond1502  6 років тому

      Hi Alison. I'm sorry to hear that. If you've got pain then it's likely your muscle is already tight and that's why you can't hold for long. Find a good pelvic health Physio and get a full assessment, I'm sure they could help :)

    It’s very hard for me to do kegels sitting or stAnding. Will it still strengthen my pelvic floor Snd help with prolapse symptoms and help them not get worse if I only do lying down?

    • @jillybond1502
      @jillybond1502  5 років тому +2

      Start doing them lying down until you can hold for 10 or 15 seconds at a time well. Then progress to doing them sat on the edge of the bed, It may be difficult but it's important to get strong against gravity! Good luck.

    I searched out for your "What is the pelvic floor" video but couldn't find it.
    Perhaps you could link it in the description or annotate the video with it?
    Why do you say for men not to activate the middle area?
    I hade a bit of a read around the anatomy but couldn't find a reason or much of other professionals advising the same.
    Thanks for the resource.

    • @dinky..

      The 'middle area' is the vaginal opening. Women have front = urethra, middle = vagina and back = anus. Whereas men only have the front and back. Your comment is old so maybe you've already found this information. Just thought that might help 👍🏻

    I've tried these over the decades. they feel so uncomfortable it's nearly unbearable. I dread doing them. I think the other muscles tense up to prevent the discomfort. I may be too old now anyway
