This would look great with those hammered metal spray finishes as well for a gothic iron look

You could have taken hot glue and ran it down the candle onto the skull to make it look like the candle wax ran into the skull. But that’s just my idea. Awesome job also I’m a new subscriber. Subbed today 10/27/19

Just for your info. They sell candles on ebay that have timers and some have a remote that comes with them. I bought some when I made mine. Easier then turning them on and off individually every night. Thanks for the video, love it!

I didn't know those existed and I bought the LED battery candlesticks. I'm going to hang it on my front porch and I was wondering how to twist the candles without standing on something. I might look those up!
I bought a set of 6 from Amazon and it's awesome not to climb something to turn them off/on. My chandelier is hanging from my porch ceiling. Thank you SO MUCH for this idea! I'm old...and I don't want to climb ladders.. lol.

amazing tutorial! something i’d suggest is maybe dripping some hot glue along the candle and onto the tops of the skulls to look like spooky melting wax, and give the candles a little more definition. definitely trying this this year 👍

The LED candles I bought have the look of dripping wax...but it's not very noticeable from a distance. They could probably be enhanced with some paint. I also bought candles that have a remote for the flames. I got that idea from someone else in the comments. I recommend if the chandelier is hanging from the ceiling. The ones I had at first had to be twisted to turn off and on and I didn't want to stand on a ladder to do that every day!

I can't get the skull's to stick on hoop. Used hot glue and e6000. What else can I try
If there is paint on the back of the skull try removing it, and try the hot glue/ e6000 and give the e6000 at least 24 hrs to dry. You could also try little screws.
I cut tongue depressors in half and glued them under the skull and hoop. But I used foam skulls instead of hard plastick and cut a notch in the bottom of the skull and slid it over the hoop. It was all very tricky!

I made this and I love it. I have a few modifications. I added red teardrop beads around the inside center and a strand of matching shaped beads looped from one skull to another. I used foam skulls and had difficulty keeping them on, so I used 1/2 of a tongue depressor glued under the skull for some stability. Thanks so much for this video. I had fun making it!!

I used acrylic paint and it peeled off when I wiped with the damp cloth 😑 This is so awesome! I'm gonna get the paint you used.

I'd only add to use a glue gun to create a dripping wax effect down the sides of those candles and a lil on the skulls.

I used the hoop that didn't have any screws. It's just a round wood hoop 😊

How long should you wait before using the damp towel on the brown because I did it right after applying and it started taking off the white paint...how many coats of white did you use
You want to make sure the white paint is completely dry and you start using the damp towel as you paint. You don't want it to dry first.
This is very cool, but then you have to turn each candle on and off individually. That would be more inconvenient since it's so high up. If you were only planning to use it for a party it would probably be perfect.
Thank you for watching! Yes that is a downside but for us personally we would only have it on a few times when its hung up. Not an every day thing.
Someone in the comments suggested remote control LED candlesticks. I bought a box of 6 (batteries were included). They work great! Just click the remote and you can have flicker or steady flame. Also has a timer for 4 or 8 hours.

Ok, how do you turn in the candles? Or do you take them out and turn them on?
You just have to turn the top part slightly :)
How did you hang from ceiling?
We tied some fishing line around the last link and then hung that on a small hook 😊

Just remember to wipe away most of the paint. You want it dark in the cracks and crevices, but fairly light on the rest of the skull. We just used a little hook that screwed into the ceiling.

Could you use the antiquing wax in place of the paint or would it not turn out the same?
I would think it would work similarly. If you have it definitely give it a try 😊. Let us know if it works with the wax.

I have searched high and low and can't find the candles anywhere. Amazon wants a ridiculous price
These are dollar store candles that places like Dollar Tree stock for Christmas. My local one already has some Christmas stuff out, so they may be available now.
Cost of hoop?
I believe $2.00 after using a 50% off coupon at Michaels.
This was an epic fail. I followed these instructions to the letter, and used the same products shown. When I wiped off the brown paint, it took off the white also. I let the white coat dry outside for 2 hrs in 89° heat, so I don't know why it lifted off. It's too time consuming, and expensive to start over. Very frustrating that projects on UA-cam aren't really as simple as they look.
