downloaded one of many voice recorder apps for my Apple Watch, Just Press Record in my case. put a complication for it on my watch face. one tap, and it launches and automatically starts recording. ZERO friction. raise wrist, a single tap, and i’m recording in under two seconds. just saved myself $169.
I did the same thing but transferring the audio recording from my AppleWatch to my phone requires a WiFi signal and there is no transcribing or summarizing feature.
I used that and ended up with piles of time stamped audio files that I never looked back through. I agree $169 isn’t cheap, but if it makes the recordings more useable and fits my natural workflow, it’ll be worth it.
One simple reason why a dedicated device is not the same as recording on a phone is the simple fact that recordings can be interrupted by incoming calls and messages unless you also turn that off. Just a bit more friction to add on top of going through multiple apps to get similar transcribed and summarized results. Although subscription always sucks. It’s just not for everyone.
the new iPhone 16 does now record both sides of a call. but it notifies the other party of this. the functionality of the plaud is currently better than my iPhone 16, but I expect plaud will be working with updates to make sure that continues to be the case.
Great overview. I love the plaud device. Can't wait to receive the NotePin. The only thing where I am pretty dissatisfied is the quality of recording ... quite many words the recording doesn't recognize, same for the transcript and the attribution of what has been said by one person. Plaud tends to merge the last sentence of Speaker 2 into the paragraph of Speaker 1. That leads a huge if you want to work on, e.g., lectures or interviews. Else, great, no - fantastic - tool.
Thanks for sharing your experience! In my use case it does an impressive job but I accept that scenarios will be different for each user. I'm optimistic that the software will keep getting better as time goes on.
Hi. I have a concern. Does it upload the voice recordings straightaway to the cloud or only if i want to? Because imagine you have a million dollar ideia and it can be stolen easily because who is the people behind the company? Do we even know? Thanks
If I were to record for a whole day (the 20hour limit for example), could it summarize my day? Or is the 300-1200 min per month limit applicable here (if I wanted to do this multiple days in a week)?
it would summarise the whole day yes. if you went over the monthly limit you would need to buy a bundle of minutes extra. it can get quite pricey, but it may be worth it if its saving you hours of writing up. I have bought extra minutes previously as the costs outweighs the benefit it gives me getting the time back.
I’ve tried using the Apple Watch for this purpose and I have two reasons why it doesn’t work well for me. 1.) I rotate between different watches and the Apple Watch isn’t my daily watch. 2.) the Apple Watch requires WiFi signal to transfer the recording to my phone.
@ I use the app Dictaphone on Apple iPhone and Apple Watch and it is in sound activated mode. So whenever somebody speaks, it starts recording. The recordings are automatically transmitted to iCloud and from there I upload to my personal Chatbot at ChatGPT, which transcribes and it into a note according to my prompt. another good app that I use is Just Press Record but that one does not have the sound activated mode. So you have to manually press record and stop.
While the Plaud NotePin offers a unique form factor and convenient audio recording capabilities, there are still several steps involved. Using the Plaud Note app on the iPhone, syncing via Bluetooth, transcribing, and saving to the cloud can make the process feel lengthy. In contrast, my workflow with the iPhone’s built-in Voice Memos app is more streamlined. I simply save the recording to a designated OneDrive folder, and Zapier takes care of the rest: automatically transcribing via ChatGPT through the OpenAI API and creating a task in my CRM based on the transcription. This automation makes the entire process seamless and efficient. It would be great if Plaud NotePin could sync recordings with OneDrive on the fly, which would make the workflow even smoother.
I disagree, the iPhones memos doesn't have the multiple templates you get with the Plaud to summarise minutes/meetings/calls. the steps you outline that you follow are definitely more cumbersome than what I need to do with the Plaud.
What’s the difference between this and the original plaud I bought last year? The tech is really in the audio transcription after it’s recorded and I’ve tried just recording using voice recorder and importing into plaud and nothing was different. This hardware is a waste of money
The accessory pack really sucks. Not a fan of the bracelet, necklace any of it. Feels really cheap and not thought out. I just received mine today so I will see how the device works out, I did like the phone version but the same as you I did not like to have to attach this to the phone all the time and have switched to Cube for phone recordings. Honestly, a device that triggers recording on your phone would probably be a better solution than a stand alone device but I am sure it will have it's uses, I will be testing out the audio vs just using a phone app in the coming weeks. Great review by the way!
So the main USP of this OVER an already present device (let alone downloadable apps) is its ease of use? Yet you have to use a separate app to connect the thing and transfer files to your phone or computer? AND it has a usage limit before purchasing a subscription? Man come on. Great edited and put together video tho
Thanks, Eric. I don’t have a native app on my phone that can currently do this. Also, when you juggle between a lot of things on a daily basis, picking up a phone really becomes cumbersome especially if it’s just to record thoughts. As a full-time creator and a parent to two children with tons of activities, this device really is a breeze to use.
I have it and the original Note, i use them all the time. There is no phone that can do exactly what they do and with such ease. I have saved so much time typing up minutes of meetings by using this. The subscription cost outweighs the benefit of the time im saving for me.
@@ZanyZoomersAre you saying you use both a Note and a Note Pin with a single subscription? If so, is it seamless? For example, do all the notes end up on the same place in the app so it doesn’t matter which you use?

I’ve been using the PLAUD NOTE now for 7 months and although I didn’t know what to expect when it first arrived, I’ve been using it everyday and been very happy with it. It’s more than just a recorder and that’s why I ordered the new NotePin.
Returning mine today after realizing my Apple Watch or iPhone can do this at no cost. All you have to do is using the voice recorder. With the new IOS, you will get the transcript and also use the writing tools for summaries, proofreading, and key points. “What if you get a call”? Well just put the device in “do not disturb” while you’re recording and this will save you more than a $100 plus this BS subscription. I’m sure, Android has similar features.
Totally understandable but as I told someone else in the comments that I tried using my Apple Watch for this purpose but also found out that I need WiFi / cellular connection for the recording to be transferred to my phone. Also, my Apple Watch isn’t my daily watch so the Plaud is more suitable for me as an everyday carry item.
Just pre-ordered, this review did it for me. Thank you

can this NotePin able to record the phone calls? like how the Plaud Note version did
@lynnfromPLAUD Thank you for clarifying. I will choose the Note version 👍
Does your phone need to be turned on or unlocked with screen active while the plaud pin is recording?
Not at all. You only need our phone on once you’re ready to sync it with the NotePin
Can you toss a link to your tube lights that standup next to you in the videos?
Wow, I was thinking the same thing.
Would this work with a light phone 3?
That would depend if the phone can support the Plaud app
How long does it record? Does it record lectures that are longer, like three hours or more?
When you preorder it now, it says free AI Features. Do you know if this is only time based, or free for a life time? Thanks!
How do you stop the recording?
Just press the device again (you get haptic feedback to confirm you have pressed successfully)
