I have this inside joke with myself and a few friends, where if I ever get a ditto in any run I do, I must use it to transform into Lances Dragonite. I am glad to see someone living my dream.
Hey this is really well made. Great work. Lickitung kept ALMOST looking ok on my red/blue run. Useful HM coverage; utilizing the traded Pokémon was a big plus for the kind of run I was doing. I just felt this dread every time I looked at its stats. Really happy you put it to use
7:50 Chansey is meant to deal damage with fixed damage moves (Seismic Toss) or status (Toxic) while stalling with Soft-Boiled and/or Thunderwave. Chansey has 5 base ATK and 30 base SPATK. You don't use attacks on her. Use your Toxic or Seismic Toss TM, that's where she shines. 20:40 Why is he sending 5 DEF Chansey against super effective physical attackers 💀
Interesting that most of the least-used Pokemon are pink Normal types... I wonder if there's a connection? Probably not. Also, one thing I want to add to the Seaking question at around 6:56: Look at that lineup of Water Pokemon. Not only are so many of them fan-favorites because of how powerful or iconic that they are, but they also pretty much all outclass Seaking in design, too. Many of them are mythical sea monsters or cartoonishly exaggerated in some way. Blastoise is pretty much Bowser with GUNS coming out of his shell. Tentacruel is a big angry man-o-war with giant bug pincers. Kingler is a literal king crab with a crown and a claw the size of a Volkswagen. Seaking is... a fish. And not a particularly interesting one either, like a shark or a piranha. It's a koi with a horn and some little fangs. ...Exciting. Pretty much every other Water type in Gen 1 has at least a marginally more interesting design except maybe Dewgong and Poliwrath, but at least they have secondary types that give them a bit of appeal. Seaking's type, movepool, stats, and design all seem to follow the same trend: Seaking is just _boring._
A fun fact for any future runs: there's a NPC that mentions a slot machina paying out better than normal - at certain times of the day, said NPC will be gone, letting you use his slot machine - which is actually rigged in your favor! That oughta speed up the grind.
When i replay games i try to use pokemon ive never used or are unpopular. Its actually very rewarding a few pokemon ive used have become favorites of mine!
Now THIS is a pokemon video I've wanted to see!!! I always play the games like this and the repetitive use of the same stronger pokemon over and over is so boring. This was a breath of fresh air 🙏🙏🙏
Didn't even noticed that wasn't a video from some big poketuber until i get to the channel to look for more videos, pretty good quality on the audio and the editing
I used a Porygon in my postgame team when I picked my original LeafGreen up after nearly 20 years early last year. I spent weeks building a new team, being a mix of Johto/Sevii and Kanto Pokémon, as well as Raikou since I did also manage to finish the Sevii Islands quest as that was left unfinished as well. Admittedly, my original "team" was trash, composed mainly of my starter and the Legendary Birds since I was rushing to get through the game and had no patience for grinding. I didn't gamble to get Porygon. I grinded rematches against those rich girls from the Sevii Islands to buy the coins I needed. Thank god it wasn't at FireRed's ridiculous price...seriously, would it have hurt them to keep the price the same as LeafGreen's? Or better yet: Make the price lower than LeafGreen's for both versions?
My man discovers why Bulbasaur is a great starter. Carries very far in the early game, and by the time that falls off, you have access to all kinds of additions to the team. So I usually end up with Ivysaur, Pidgeot, Arcanine, Lapras and typically a Kadabra or Electrode. Oh, and somewhere I still have an ancient Blue cartridge with a Chansey with 666 HP
You can hit the start button to instantly cash out at the slots instead of waiting for the counter to tick down. I wonder what the 6 least used by NPCS pokemon are? Could be an interesting team
FR/LG really should've had the Gen 2 and 3 Pokemon in the main game as that really would've helped replay value & team diversity. Pokemon like: starters, Heracross, Chinchou, Salamance, Tyranitar, Shedinja, Steelix, Kingdra, Exploud, Ludicolo, Metagross, etc. could've been really cool
learning to not succumb to the Super Effective Mindset is one of the most important steps of getting better at Pokemon sometimes your mon with coverage simply isn't up to the task that the other's raw high power STAB is
honestly surf is one of the best moves in pokemon, it has saved me a lot of times when things were looking pretty bad. anyways, nice video, it was a really interesting challenge.
Interesting concept. Maybe next time you could make a rule to swap your starter for the first less popular pokemon that you encounter. And swap each time your "most popular" pokemon in your team every time you find one that is less popular.
Fun challenge! Hadn’t seen one like this before. If you repeat it for other gens, maybe early game you can just the least popular Pokémon available at that point in the game. Makes it more of a challenge since you wouldn’t be over leveling and leaning on your starter as much
This was a cool video, this video is going to get a ton of views. Hope to see more Pokemon coming from you soon. Two recommendations: 1. Considering no items in battle as it increases difficulty. 2. Due to badge boosts in gen 1-3, when you transformed to Dragonite, you will always attack first.
Really awesome vid, great edits- props to you for doing this run, this was extremely entertaining to watch😃! Hopefully you'd do the rest of the games as well😄
I actually started doing something similar around the time of this video’s release! I’m going through my copy of FireRed with the Pokémon that I otherwise just abandoned in my PC, and it’s fun :3 Currently have a spearow and mankey on my team, AND A BUTTERFREE (ability gives more accuracy) with DREAM EATER and SLEEP POWDER! (super excited to try this combo, I haven’t gotten to use it in combat yet.) I’m probably gonna use the Oddish evolution line, once I catch one that is… I picked Bulbasaur on LeafGreen, so it’s only natural that I never felt the need to use a different grass Pokémon AT ALL :P
On another note, thank you for providing the survey results in the description!! I cannot wait to read it, sounds like a fun place to find inspiration :D
I literally always use chansey, not only because I catch a bunch for lucky egg, but also because of toxic, hardboiled, and minimize. My move set for chancey constantly wins me any battle I fight, massively over looked Pokemon. If I’m ever in a bad situation, I just pull out chansey and it’s over
Many people don’t realize that Pokémon games have an inherent difficulty setting based on the starter you choose. Bulbasaur makes the game easier, Squirtle provides a balanced challenge, and Charmander is the hardest option. Since players often enjoy a challenge, Charmander became the most popular choice by default. Its popularity was further boosted by the Pokémon Trading Card Game, where Charizard became an iconic and highly sought-after card.
"Goldeen was the MVP of this gym." Is a sentence nobody has ever said before.
In my bug only run, parasect was my ace. The resists to water, ground, and grass were actually very useful.
@@harrisontownsend910 grass is goated in gen 1
It's a sentence no one should say
"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites."

Almost 10k views with sub 1k subs is great...its a channel growth kind of video
I really like the way you showed stats and moves. It looked good.
I have this inside joke with myself and a few friends, where if I ever get a ditto in any run I do, I must use it to transform into Lances Dragonite. I am glad to see someone living my dream.
I hadn’t realized you were a small channel till I looked at the comments, I’m genuinely in arms why you’re not poketube mainstream lol
Probably because this is his first Pokemon video
you gotta use toxic on chansey and then stall with softboiled
+ Seismic Toss for consistend dps
Yeah he completely mismanaged Chansey - often even putting her up against physical attackers
I think Lickitung is so unpopular also cause he is so hard/late to optain. Only as a trade and for a Slowbro

Thank you, chansey not having Toxic was actually killing me
I can't believe someone used a Ditto through the Elite 4.
Tips for making Chansey fun and playable :
-counter
-explosion
-toxic
ludicrously underrated channel

But necessary for having a fish representative. Leaving magikarp to be the only fish is whack.
@@derekday3896 Did the fish need to suck? Honest question, because I feel like the fish didn't really need to suck.
I think you needed Seismic Toss for Chansey 😂
56 HP per turn is kinda bad
Seismic toss does damage equal to level. It would have done very little.
Anime overhyped the move, its pretty weak in game
I think it's still more reliable than having to set up 6 calm minds while trying not to get one-shotted by literally any physical damage
Seismic toss definitely was the play. It would've been a consistent 3 shot on most mons without any setup
For a channel this small, i really like the quality of your editing and your voice :0/
this video was better than some "big" poketubers, really good stuff
Bro played on battle style: shift 💀
I love the story of the underdog, I love how the Pokemon never got to shine, and now they do
I love the Pokémon in-depth screens, the stat sliders with the numbers especially is awesome - really great video!

Your sense of humor is great! I also really like generally how you made this, another small channel gem found!
Had to like and sub after that mad respect doing all this esp on the actual handheld console instead of a rom must’ve taken forever good stuff
Great video, you will get bigger if you keep going no doubt. Very high quality editing and voiceover. Keep it up and good luck!
Dude your sub count needs to be at least 100k with how good this video is
Just give Chancey Rest and Toxic, use PokeFlute to wake, and put in vs Special attack types. aka Electric, Water, Grass, Physic, Fire.
Your editing is seriously good, I'm surprised this doesn't have more views
Lickitung may be weak and all but he's the derpiest, most adorable boy. ❤

I was baffled when I saw you go for Slowbro, but it all made sense when you traded Bruh for Lickitung
I liked this video because the outro was hilarious.
using healing items in battle, so gay
The view count is shockingly low for the quality and subject matter. This deserves to blow up.
