This is a gem of a video, its cool to see what has changed over the past 20+ years since. But hearing that ringtone at 55:32 is pure nostalgia for me. I had that on my very first cell phone that I got in 2001.
@@austinlawler3739 Thank you so much! I think one of the things I miss most since retiring is being able to ride the head end whenever I wanted. I’m glad you enjoyed the ride!!
@ Correct. I believe it turned quiet in between 09'-11'. Just hits home for me because I remember the horns as a kid. Couldn't find better horn action in a town like that.
God, they really have built up so much around (and on TOP of) the C&M directly North of CUS. It's bizarre seeing so many of those crossovers with daylight shining on them
I had forgotten how rough that stick rail was on 1 main. Also interesting to note the Patrol had cars on the westward side, but nothing from the EJE. I only caught that job once off the board, we mostky worked Truesdell. Good trip down Amnesia Lane. If memory serves, I was working mostly coal trains up the Valley by that time.
Between Rondout, Illinois and Chicago Union Station, the line is owned by local commuter rail service provider Metra while the line north of Rondout is owned by Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited.
@DHDISPR SMITH - Awesome. I often wondered what it looks like from the front. I'm guessing the loco was a P-40 or 42? What was the moving of the levers towards the end of the video?
@@paulp575 Thank you! It was a P42 if I recall right though I didn’t record the number. That was a desktop control stand. The engineer was moving the throttle up and down and setting air on the train to reduce speed. The whistle is the button you can see him press when he’s blowing for a crossing. I’m glad you enjoyed the ride.
@@dhdisprsmith2296 - When did you record this? Seems like last time I went through the Milwaukee station it didn't look like that. Had just undergone an upgrade where they now have stairs and elevators to take you above the train then to the station.
@@paulp575 This was shot on October 14, 2002. When CP moved me to Milwaukee in 1993, the office was on the third floor of the Amtrak station. We were moved to Minneapolis in 1999 because the building was going to be refurbished into the transportation center that it is today.
@@dhdisprsmith2296 - Guess I missed seeing the date - sorry. I rode the EB between Milwaukee and Spokane twice a year from 2013 thru 2017. At that time they were in the process of redoing the platform areas.
I like Cab Rides & like your trip.
That was the best thing about being a train dispatcher. I got to ride the head end whenever I went on a "road trip".

@@dhdisprsmith2296 indeed so and enjoy the time warp. You're very welcome.
Used to ride that line as a kid to go see grandma in Milwaukee. Brings back memories.
I'm glad the video brought back memories of old times! Thank you for watching!!
Back when Oconomowoc was a horn zone. It's very cool to see and hear it from the engineers perspective.
@@traepederson6868 They blew from one end of town to the other. I’m guessing it’s a quiet zone now?

The phantom slow order at A-5 had me laughing
