I'm an old man, but I remember as a small child my grandfather making ditty poles out of river cane. He had 10 or 15. We would set them out and run them about every hour. We also put out a trot line. While we were waiting to run the lines we'd use our old fashioned rod and reels. I hadn't thought about ditty poles in a long time....

I've been calling Illinois game and fish for trot lines diddy poles and submersible green lights but I get run around and can't find crap on the internet huge grey area I assume

@@sethmorton8539 Any time there is disparity in which a reasonable person needs to interpret the laws for him/herself courts will usually side with the reasonable person. Laws are supposed to be clear and concise. If they're open to interpretation by a reasonable person the courts will tell the lawmakers to do a better job of writing laws.

@@catfishkarma1 okay thanks for the reply! right now I have them in 10 foot( 7 of them) guess I'll just cut them to an even 5. Ft to make duplicates?
The video said 7 and I've seen 6 and 8 foot online. I'm not sure how 5 food would do.

To bad you all won't use a Willow branch that is about one inch at the base and using stopper hitches to secure the line.
