- If you've ever tried to take photos with a simple macro tube extender or a vintage lens adaptor on your Canon camera, you may have noticed that the shutter won't fire. In this video, I'll show you how to enable the shutter release without a lens option on the Canon RP, R6, and M6 Mark II.

does anyone know how to do this with a canon r100. I can shoot with my new anamorphic 35mm lens
wow, that reminds me of the menu of the 5D classic!
Many thanks for this just got a 420-800mm lens to test :)
Thanks. I hope this works
Thks a lot! Best regards from Brazil
😁👊
Thanks
fantastic thank you!!
If you have the Canon M100, you can change it at Function ii, because it doesn't have function iii and it will give you an option to enable or disable the shutter release without a lense. I use the Canon M100 for my youtube videos mainly and purchased a Brightin Star lens for macro shots of my art. It would connect to the camera but didn't take pictures or film before, but once I found it, it worked fine and was able to record.
are you using adapter for the lens?
I just got this Camara and my Camara screen in blank I cannot see a live view . It came like this I have the eos r5 . Do you think something might be wrong. I don’t have any lense at the moment just the body . Any help will be appreciated.
I am new to the mirrorless camera, can you tell me what is the reason of my camera's blurred screen? Or the reason is i don't have lens.
Omg 😮 Shinsuke Nakamura
ngl I get that a lot 🤣
any idea how to choose this option on a 7D?
Not sure, I have a 7D Mk II and couldn’t find any settings for the shutter release other than fire without a card.
I cant find it on 6d 2 😩 help
Do you know how to fix the Lens Not Attached message? I have a Canon Rebel T6i and just purchased a Vivitar 500mm F/8.0 Telephoto lens. When I try to change aperture, I have an f00 showing and it says I cannot change aperture due to the lens not being attached (but the telephoto lens is attached). I'm searching through all of my menu screens, but cannot find which setting I'm supposed to change. Can anyone please help? Thank you!
What I think is happening is that lens is fully manual. The Focus and Aperture are both manual so it may not have the same contacts on the lens to tell the camera that there’s a lens connected to it. It does the same thing when I use vintage lenses with a simple adapter. You would more than likely have to set both the aperture on the lens itself along with focusing manually as it won’t be able to be adjusted via the camera itself.
Just guessing though, give it a try if you can.
Sir i really need your advice, (My English is bad so please consider)
my canon 6d suddenly it stop shooting, in the middle of shooting, it stop taking pictures. *when i press the shutter button it looked focus and then it don't take photo, but it takes videos'
Please please help me with your advice, i am a student and just started photography
Difficult to say.
It could be the buffer running out, you might want to try a faster SD card if that’s the case. Might also be the minimum focusing distance. You might be getting a little too close to the subject you’re shooting which could cause the camera to not fire if you’re out of focus.
Just guessing. Are you able to take photos at all or can you take photos for a little bit then it stops but goes back to working after a moment?
No sir it stops working, it's been a week 🙂🙂, but it can still do video not photo
I went to a service center and he said" He have to open it , There is a problem with some internal part
Hey do you know how to do it in EOS 60D?
I don't know but it might be similar to the 70d.
My R8 won’t take pictures with a 3rd party license, which my R6 does. ? Do you know anything on this??
Menu 6.4.4. point. U a welcome
Thank you.!
But in this camera doesn’t allow communication with 3rd party lenses.
It may work with manual lenses that don’t communicate with the camera.
My lens communicates with the camera but it’s a manual lens. Samyang Ef 1.2 with electronic contacts.
It work on my R6 which is weird.
On the R8 if I really want to use it I have to avoid fully twisting the lens to a lock position and that way it work but it no longer communicates.
@K9malinois_dog_love true, as long as the camera detects the lens or lens adapter it won’t let you take any pics. If you have an adapter with no electronics you should be to circumvent the camera from blocking the lens.
I’ve heard of people using a little bit of tape to cover up the connections pins on lenses and adapters, to bypass the block, but can’t vouch or confirm that it works in person.
Is it possible in m50 mark ii
Don’t have that one to know for sure but it might be similar to the m6 mark II settings in the menu.
Thx man. After a year with this camera i still can't find stuff in menu
Hi, I've been having the same issue with a message that lens is not attached. I have a Canon Rebel T6i. Trying to get this lens to work in Manual mode. Were you able to find a solution to adjust aperture?
The lens might be fully manual. That includes the aperture. It might not have the same contacts on the lens as an automatic lens so the camera won’t register that there’s a lens attached. Same thing happens on my old vintage lenses.
Thank you for your help! Yes, upon further research today I have learned that I need to set the aperture on the lens itself. THE ISO and Shutter Speed I can set on the camera. I'm now just practicing what settings to set for different scenarios. Going on Safari this year & hoping to get good pics.@@Bluesviolet
Maybe a tiny bit more preparation next time ???
