    I got this unit at the end of June and was very happy with how it cooled the approx 450 sq ft room it was in. My very first ever A/C and it made a huge improvement in my quality of life during oppressively hot days here in Northern California. Because of this excellent video I decided to clean the filter inside the unit, as advised, and while I had the unit open, I noticed a rust stain inside at the bottom left side of where the filter had been. Thinking that there should be no rust on the inside of the unit, I contacted Midea customer service and asked them why rust was dripping inside and if the unit needed to be replaced given it was only 4.5 months old. They told me to send pictures of the rust. I did. I waited for a week. Nothing. I called again, and they sent an email again with a case number again, to which I replied and attached pictures clearly showing the rust and asking why it was there and what to do about it. Waited a week. No response. Called a third time, they said to text the pictures this time. Which I did. Yeah, you guessed it - it's been weeks and no response. This unit is new. It should not be rusting inside already after only a couple months of use. If I'm seeing rust dripping inside, I'm sure there's more/worse rust where I can't see. Very disappointing that Midea doesn't stand behind their products enough to help resolve this problem before it becomes any worse. Beware!

    Thank you!!! I just purchased one of these recently and my manual vaguely told me how to remove it but had absolutely nothing about how to put it back in! You just saved me from a headache!! ❤

    Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

    I own this same Midea model and I LOVE it! The inverter technology is a must for efficiency and you could hang meat in my 12 X 15 foot bedroom when I crank it down! The U-Shaped design gives you the best ok f both worlds....

    For how dirty that filter was, I'd vacuum the fins inside... they looked pretty dirty too. By the way, no need to vacuum that "washable filter"... you can just wash the dust off with the faucett. Thanks for posting!

    Thanks - good video. I didn't notice those tracks when I tried to put the filter back in until you showed them in your video.

    Have you removed the unit and cleaned the evaporator and condenser coils? My standard units are removed and cleaned annually. The fan blades collect dirt and the condenser is partially covered with dirt.

    Thanks. I, too, couldn't figure out how to put it back. Midea's instructions aren't at all helpful. But the air conditioner is very good.

    I noticed an inch of sitting water inside my unit when I went to change the filter. Do you know if that's normal? I live in a very humid area and run it on dry mode pretty often. TIA.

    I cleaned the filter on mine and it blows cooler, but the remote or the arrows on the unit won’t bring it above 30 degrees. What could be wrong?

    Was there any water where the filter goes?

    • @MichaelJones-yi5ue
      @MichaelJones-yi5ue Рік тому

      If there is water there the whole unit is not balanced properly. It should drain outside. Water takes the path of least resistance so it must be tilted forward.

    The whole video of you just cleaning the screen filter which is extremely easy but yours was completely Dusty you should clean it weekly looks like you haven't cleaned in a month or two but the challenging question I have is how to clean the fan blades can't find any video of a way to clean the fan blades and so far the only way of cleaning them I found is take a good spray bottle with hot water and spray all the gunk off the blades air compressor blowing the blades around blades around

    I actually thought you were going to share how to clean the whole air conditioner not just - 'Hot to clean Midea A/C filter'. Filter is easy, people are having problems cleaning the moldy fans and the exterior coil. Well maybe I'll tear one down seeing as so many people are struggling with these Chinese units.
