I did the reverse: enlisted in Healthcare Services Management and cross trained into TACP (1C4X0) and spent the rest of my career as a JTAC. Best decision I could've made. I returned to healthcare via public health after I retired USAF.
I'm currently in school for Healthcare management. I plan on going into the airforce after school. I'll be close to 37 then. I'm so happy that the airforce allows people in their 30's to join.
@Kelly Smith Hi, I just wanted to follow up to see if you went this route and what your experience was? I’ll be in a similar situation so any insight would be great.
Hi there! Update? This is my current situation right now. Just turned 35 and I am currently in the Health Information Management program (Associate's degree) and I will be 36 when I graduate, and I want to try and join the Air Force afterward 🙏
Being a 4A is so under appreciated and you’re over worked lol always picking up the slack of other 4As before you. Might be a fast tech school but good luck ever being recognized or feel wanted in a hospital setting.
Awesome video! I'm currently in 4A0 tech school at Sam Houston and all of this info is extremely accurate based on my experiences and what I've heard from other 4A0s. Thanks for the upload!
Retired 4A. Spent most of my career in Medical Readiness and at Aeromedical Staging Facilities with some detours to records and patient admin early on. There are worse AFSCS for sure, but this career field does get a lot of recycles from other career fields so it can be a bit of a dumping ground of people who don't want to be there. Another transferable skill is medical coding which can earn you good money on the outside. If you want to be in Medical but don't particularly want to do direct patient care, this may be for you.

my uncle was a 4A1X1 which is Medical Material or Medical Supply, he drove a mail truck around to hand out medicine and medical supplies to various flights and shops around the base. It's an easy job but he hated it because he wanted to be air traffic control and wasn't able to that job.
I am leaving on an open contract in September and I was wondering if you can put any AFSC you scored high enough for on your dream sheet? It doesn’t have to be the same aptitude area as your open contract correct?

Good day, I have a question: I'm a nurse in the Philippines and planning to migrate to USA. I have a US license in nursing via the state of Illinois. What should be my path If I have a BSN degree and an US nursing license? If I enlist what would be my process?

I am currently in the Civil Air Patrol because of the activities provided by the program and if I reach the rank of 2nd Lieutenant then I can join the military as an E3. Is it worth it to join for getting through college?
Depends on your financial situation/goals. However free college, no loans is pretty legit. But it you have your eyes already on college and they have ROTC; that is a great option. Its up to you.
Please can someone help me! I’m going to Meps this Friday I don’t have a job list yet because my job options are limited as non US citizen, But the list of job I got from my recruiter do not interest me but I can do the medical which he said is not available. Do I insist on medical ? Also is it true that if you are a non us citizen after tech school you cannot be stationed abroad ?
Not sure about your opportunities regarding being a non-citizen. I know you have to apply for citizenship once you arrive to your first duty station first. However I personally know of a fellow 4A0X1 that applied for his citizenship after arriving at our first base together. After he cross trained to a different medical AFSC; so that is an option.
I was at my first duty station for 5 years. Request OSAN and they'll get you out and since they no longer have a curfew; absolutely everyone I was with in Korea is looking/wouldn't mind at all, going back.
I've been in 3.5 years about to be on my 3rd assigment as a 4A0, but I've been overseas this whole time. its great but i agree not something i want to do longterm
