- A little bit of a different video, just for fun.
Recently, Trent Horn was kind enough to fly me out to Dallas for an interview on his show. In this video, you get a peak behind the scenes of that trip. This was the first time I've been flown somewhere for a podcast, so I wanted to make this video as a thank you to all of you for your support of the channel. It's been a wild ride.

About Gospel Simplicity:
Gospel Simplicity began as a UA-cam channel in a Moody Bible Institute dorm. It was born out of the central conviction that the gospel is really good news, and I wanted to share that with as many people as possible. The channel has grown and changed over time, but that central conviction has never changed. Today, we make content around biblical and theological topics, often interacting with people from across the Christian tradition with the hope of seeking greater unity and introducing people to the beautiful simplicity and transformative power of the gospel, the good news about Jesus.
About the host:
Austin Suggs holds a BA in Theology from Moody Bible Institute and is currently pursuing an MA in Liberal Arts with a focus in Theology and Philosophy from St. John's College, Annapolis. He has served in the local church in a number of ways, including as a full-time staff member,, teacher, church planter, and more. Today, he resides outside of Baltimore with his wife Eliza.

Thanks for this great behind the scenes video! Our interview will air Monday 3/11/24.
Thanks for having me on the show! It was an absolute pleasure getting to meet you and chat in person
Had no idea Trent was in Dallas. Taylor Marshall is round these parts too?
Queremos que nos acompañes en algun programa en linea con hispanos,
Get's roasted by Trent Horn then starts roasting coffee. Love it! 😅
Shoutout to the cat for keeping it real.
Meow
Beautiful Tortie
She's the real star of the show
Dallas has a rich and vibrant Catholic community as well. The University of Dallas is an excellent Catholic liberal arts school that is flourishing like Franciscan. Lean into the 80 degrees. Also, love Chesterton.
Problem is, it may be 80 degrees in March, but it's 100 in August.
(Shhhhhhhhh!)
Indeed - I’ve had many family members attend each of these schools!
You got a great wife. Thank God everyday.
Amen
You both seem like such nice guys! I hope the interaction was pleasant, Austin.
Roasted? By _Trent?_ Not likely. _Choked out on the jiu-jitsu mat,_ perhaps. But the conversation will be gentlemanly. 😇
BTW, Austin, I saw those beads, and that copy of _Orthodoxy_ (forward by Bishop Barron). Y'can't sneak that past us with superfast cuts in your editing! We have a _pause_ button, and we're not afraid to use it! 😉
Gotta make people rewatch for watch time stats ;).
Actually, adding the transition just shortened the clip and I left it like that. But I am a big fan of Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Orthodoxy is fantastic.
And yes, Trent was a model gentleman
Oh I didnt see those!
Your kitty is like “what the heck is up with the changes to routine?!” Haha.
I saw the interview this AM, y’all are both so awesome! Christianity needs more of both of you. 😊
Those are some serious coffee vibes going on!
Big fan of these vlog style videos!
Glad you like them! They're really fun to make. 16 year old me wanted to be a travel vlogger, lol. This is probably as close as I'll ever get!
I’m very much looking forward to the video
I’ve listened to Trent for years and I’d bet he’s great in person
You'd be correct!
Nothing like a good Chesterton book!
And the Rosary!❤
I'm glad you accepted looking forward can't wait. Robert from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Awww you have a Tortie. Must be a good guy
Looking forward to its premiere! God bless!
You did a great job!
Thank you!
BWI to Dallas? I’ve taken that flight on my way to Mexico to visit my in-laws! Looking forward to hearing your and Trent’s chat! I have to ask, what book did you bring on the plane??
I brought Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton and Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb. At the beginning of the day, I was feeling smart enough for Chesterton, at the end of the day I needed some fiction, lol
As soon as I saw the dosing cup I knew exactly where this intro was going lol.
I don't know how, but now that I know you're a specialty coffee enjoyer, it's like I had a feeling all along hahaha.
Hahaha I'm definitely in deep when it comes to coffee - for better or worse!
@@GospelSimplicity so am I hahaha. But I'm mostly a pourover drinker, although I definitely want to get a flair in the future.
Saludos de Nicaragua..Saludos a los 2, son geniales...Thaks for all..
Eliza is a rock. A gentle rock, but a rock all the same. I am looking forward to the interview.
Awesome... wish I could be there many blessings 🙌
I also refuse to walk on moving walkways!
Love your channel and it's growth and yours too. Stay blessed. From a psychonaut figuring it all out. Yeehee!
Ha, you popped up into my feed, its been a while since I checked out your channel. We're planning a reboot and 2nd season of our Podcast, which is why I stumbled back on here. I'll try to remember to check out your interview with Trent.
That really is wild to travel all within a day like that.
Right? What a wild time to be alive
Came back the same day!
"It's raining in Baltimore, baby
But everything else is the same"
[opening credits rolls. A title card. The Apologist. A lone man walks on the Texas Streets, an outsider, a challenger. The voice over begins.]
"Long ago it was foretold that there could only be one Apologist on UA-cam. But as of now there others like him, some good some evil battle for audience capture and view counts. For centuries they thought this one apologist could be a man named Akin or Woods, or White. All other challengers took holy ground as their only refuge. They can not be stopped unless you defeat them in debate and take their power. In the end there can be Only One. Now is the time of the Gathering, in a strange and distant place called Dallas Texas."
[Queen begins playing loudly in the background]
🤣🤣🤣
I am a coffee lover myself. What equipment are you using to make your coffee?
I want to preface this with the fact that you can make great coffee much cheaper, but I'm using a Niche Zero grinder, a Flair Pro 2 manual espresso machine, and a Breville frother. That's my setup for weekend lattes. Weekdays I use either a V60, Kallita, or Aeropress for black coffee
@@GospelSimplicity awesome thank you! 🙏
Cute cat!
Welcome to the DFW. Don't go to Deep Ellum. Lol
What coffee beans did you use at the beginning? Looked like a lovely light roast!
Common Voice!
spritz some water before grinding the coffee to prevent static cling of powder
That's a real pro move
You need to walk on them. It feels amazing!
I don't know, I'm pretty stubborn
That's true. Maybe interview people on both sides of the issue for a few years.😊😂@@GospelSimplicity
So how much of this video was to flex with your coffee set up.
When you become catholic, you can move to Dallas
We've got lots of good liturgy options for sure.
Hmm, if Eliza does not want to be filmed at 4 AM, 5 AM should be perfectly fine, then, right? This sort of masculine, cold hard logic is why men learn so well how to sleep on the couch.
I don't understand why he's doing all of this...
Is it an ecumenical exercise?
Is he thinking about conversion?
He's not a cleric.
I don't think he's a minister.
Exploring other faith journeys and churches is 1 thing.
I believe he runs a youtube channel about Christianity and these videos probably get views.
I believe he is searching for the Truth and this means constant study and exploration.
He’s like any good follower of Jesus should be, he’s seeking truth and trying to discern where the Lord is leading him.
I’m thankful for his content as I’m on the same journey and this channel has been a blessing to me for hearing many different perspectives on scripture and traditions in a cordial way.
His videos are excellent, I love watching them. He is very respectful of everyone and of the different denominations.
