It is also and above all used with bowed instruments, for example the violin. In stringed instruments, vibrato is a must. A violin without vibrato is jokingly called 'sawing wood'. But it is also used with wind or plucked instruments and with the voice in opera (is a must) or pop music. A kiss to Pratibha.

That step 2 is not possible for everyone 😂. Another thing to note, Some playback singers move their jaws while doing vibrato. When you practice to move your jaw in the correct way you can improve vibrato.m
Maybe, vibrato is an oscillation of the note which kampitam is to, but vibrato doesnt oscillate between notes, which kampitam does, as you implied vibrato being more tender than kampitam

Yes vibrato is mainly to be used in light music and western. It is good to avoid it for carnatic and hindustani.
