What’s amazing about Cranston as an actor is that he disappears into his roles to such a degree, you never think about his other iconic characters while watching them. Hal and Walter White actually share some similar qualities (both family men, both have neurotic tendencies, both share a proclivity for running around in their tighty whities), but Cranston plays them so differently they’re easily discernible from each other. Two of the greatest TV performances and characters of all time. This dude is an absolute master of his craft.
To me, Hal was the best tv-sitcom dad ever! He wasn't the average comedy husband and father, who drank beer, watched football and kinda love-hated his family. Hal was passionate about his family, his especially, but also other things. Even though he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, he stayed curious about things. He was never afraid to show his emotions or any vulnerability. All this made him kinda more "realistic" (as realistic as Malcolm in the Middle could be) and also a better role model for young boys watching TV (as much as you can get a "role model" from TV)

The roller blade arc will still be the perfect embodiment of Hal. Very serious when he needs to be, a stern father but because he knows how far you can go with proper skills, still goofy in nature, but has so much heart. Also he knows that it’s important to eat good sandwiches at the appropriate time.

MITM is so well written that it feels like a different show when you watch it as a teenager and then as an adult. Also, the fact that Hal's best moments total to over an hour of content says a lot about how many great moments he's had
I think that's because you start to understand the little jokes that are meant for adults. For me I watched in elementary, and I really focused on the kids because I could relate. As an adult, I start to relate to the parents as well, even though I'm not a parent, but I can still understand them.
This show got me through some really hard times, always was there to cheer me up. I'm really thankful for everyone involved in making this show, and really appreciate the maker of this collab.

Hal is so infatuated with Lois that he can’t even fathom other women flirting with him.
Heard someone once say that it’s because this is a dark comedy that reverses the common family dynamic seen in American sitcoms. ‘Normal’ TV dads have a wandering eye and make ‘ball and chain’ jokes about their wives, and this is a subversion of that, in that the parents are smitten with each other instead of secretly hating each other.

However, unlike many modern sitcom dads, hyperbolically stupid, lazy, and/or selfish, he loves his wife and kids, works very hard, and sacrifices A LOT to make sure they are taken care of, and there are times where he actually bonds with his kids and has fun with them.
