- We're covering cartoons today! As some animated news has popped up in the niche. Back during the Annecy Film Festival, both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon had some new shows to announce. And it's just more of the same. Remakes! And spinoffs.. From Adventure Time getting a movie and two shows, Phineas and Ferb getting a Season 5, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends getting a remake, as well as the likes of Scooby Doo, Regular Show, and more.. it begs the question, is this a good idea? Is redoing the best of the 2010s the better choice over original content? Or is this the cycle of entertainment for the foreseeable future? Whatever the case, Apparently... Every Cartoon Is Getting A Revival...

At least the other Adventure Time miniseries have been really solid so far, I've really enjoyed seeing different stories that aren't completely centered on the Finn and Jake dynamic.

The fact that the original creative teams are working on these reboots is both reassuring and... massively depressing
Because it kinda points to what has been said for a long time now - that the Western entertainment industry is hostile to new content and ONLY wants pre-existing IPs. Craig McCracken had stated that he pitched 16 different shows to Netflix, and aside from Kid Cosmic, ALL of them were rejected. So he went back to his old stomping grounds at CN and pitched a Foster's and PPG reboot because he felt like the studios were ONLY interested in pre-existing IPs.
And seeing JG Quintel go through a similar journey, working on Close Enough for YEARS, dealing with countless delays and setbacks, finally getting it off the ground and receiving favourable reviews, only for it to be cancelled after ONLY 24 EPISODES, and then going back to CN and doing Regular Show again is just... kinda sad.

I was actually a massive fan of the ducktales reboot, it brought something new to the series and the creator made their own spin on it, while also respecting the original to the best of their ability. That I think is one of the best examples of a reboot that I’ve seen. It is definitely possible to continue/reboot something that doesn’t ruin the source material or run it to the ground so I’ll have my hopes but still stay cautious about what’s to come.

As a massive Phineas and Ferb fan, I am very unhappy with the fact that it's getting a revival. It had a longer run than any other Disney Channel cartoon so far, I suspect seasonal rot would've kicked in had it run much longer (I heard somewhere that someone who worked on the show said they were running out of ideas), and it had a perfect finale.
Also, Disney cutting Milo Murphy's Law short makes the P&F revival feel like a slap to the face.
phineas and ferb was renewed quiet a few months back. I think around end of last year. I do'nt know about Milo murphy's law, but he creator of both the shows has quiet a good relationship with disney. And TBH, he's excited.
Honestly, a Phineas and Ferb revival could work purely because Dan Povenmire is working on this. I’m cautiously optimistic for this revival purely because it could feel like another season

@@rossbob4215 Not really. Doof and Perry did become major characters in season 2, but there was still plenty of focus on the original MML cast.

I think that one factor that Adventure Time has to its advantage is how big the world is, as well as how deep the lore is, it has almost limitless potential for the stories that the franchise can tell us.
So long as they hire the right people and put them on the right projects, Adventure Time can have very good longevity without worry of a decline in quality.
The best thing for a Adventure Time revival, in my opinion at least, is if they did series set in Future OOO, picking up with Shermy and Beth. It's a pretty clean slate for the writers to tell more stories through and also continues the story of the world.
So new watchers wouldn't have to be familiar with past seasons of Adventure Time to enjoy the show, but Long time fans can watch it and see how the world they grew up watching continues to evolve.
Is it too much to ask for NEW (and NOT crappy) content that's NOT instantly cancelled after one season?
Sadly, it seems as though that's indie animation's job now.

The Phines and Ferb reboot has been announced by Dan Povenmire for at least a year dude. Nothing new with P&F aside from clips of Dan voicing doof on his YT shorts page.

but i have loved the adventure time revivals so far, and i hope once its over, they put it to rest instead of trying to milk it
Well Adventure Time was pitched to Nick, but rejected 🙅♀️ twice and moved to Cartoon Network instead

You know what I predict here? Expect A LOT of backdoor pilots going forward. It may be the only way to get a new idea off the ground, if it's already been tied to an existing IP, and I would think the creators know this. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if a reboot show comes along for basically only this purpose.

We’re getting a another Powerpuff Girls getting a reboot but before get mad McCraken is coming back to direct and produce and Lauren Faust and Rob Renzetti are the writers the reboot. So had hope that the reboot will be good and keeping the spirit of the original show and that much better than the 2016 reboot.

Agreed, unlike most shows coming back Mao Mao *ACTUALLY/DESERVES* a revival especially when season 2 is 100% complete but they never release it for whatever reason.

Instead of making revivals of Ben 10, Regular show, Teen titans, Phineas and Ferb; why not one of Wonder over yonder? This show was really good and funny with charming characters, great villains especially Commander Peepers (Tom kenny did a fantastic job. Now i imagine Spongebob meeting him ha ha 😋) The music was great too! It only has 2 seasons. I won't say no to one exploring Hater's past; how he met Peepers, how tey became friends. Sounds interresting!

Milo Murphy's law was new and had good reviews but it didn't have enough views on Disney+ to get more seasons
So underrated, it deserves to come back for more recognition.
The problem with Milo Murphy's law is that in the later seasons they put too much Phineas and Ferb elements in it, I know you want to show off your previous work in some way, but the way they did it just didn't sit right with me.
Long story short, Milo Murphy's law lost it's own identity in the later seasons.
Everyone, keep watching it.

Honestly- I might give the BMO Preshow a shot even though I’m an adult
I adored just watching BMO being themself in the rewatch I hosted back in October-April
I’d prefer having fun new ideas, obviously, but at the same time I’m fine with the ones I grew up with sticking around a bit longer. Adventure Time especially! Shermy and Beth for example, only have 2 episodes of screen time, and are under utilized in their episodes, but there’s so much interest around them to me, same with a lot of adventure time characters!
There better be a spinoff show about the characters from the adventure time ending

Also he’s in london. So he can finally make the project happen. The fact that Craig made this because he and Lauren have a child. :]

both yes and no, Nick Jr. was originally a programming block on Nickelodeon but in 2009 the Noggin channel was completely rebranded to Nick Jr., and the Nick Jr. programming block was removed
Its not some dedicated fan base keeping it going, they all grow up and grow out of nick jr, but then there is also always new children😂. Like seseme street is watched by five year olds born in 2019 today, not by the 50 somethings that watched it when it started and they were kids in the 70’s

I don't have a problem with reboots at all as long as they're done well, but I do feel like this is just part of the larger problamatic trend of our current culture. Everything is feeling creatively stifled by large corporations who have decided that it's easier, safer and cheaper to just reproduce the same thing 50 times. Something new with the old would be nice to see.
I absolutely adore Fosters and I once wrote a fanfic about it where Mac grew up and had said goodbye to Bloo 15 years ago but comes back to Fosters and asks for Bloo to be friends with his kid.
I have a feeling as weird as my fanfic was the premise for a Fosters reboot will be worse

It’s cool that old shows are getting reboots, but I’m also seeing the partial death of creativity since there are barely any new original shows compared to back then.
Imma just say something no one is talking about. It would be Sheep in the Big City but people know about it but I mean why has no one talked about Zoom the white Dolphin? Like literally no one I have watched talked about the show.

I could see Heyo BMO and Sidequests being great ways to bring in new generations into Adventure Time whilst the main series grows up with the original audiance, sort of like how while the Clone Wars matured into Bad Batch and the Mandoverse, Young Jedi Adventures brings in younger kids who may not be interested in the new stuff.

They have Rebecca Sugar and Patrick McHale directing the Adventure Time movie, so I'm pretty confident that it's in good hands.
dunno where that idea keeps coming from cuz rebecca sugar is a terrible writer lmao, her shows constantly backflip on themselves, feed into irl drama and fanfare, and ultimately are often super hypocritical and shallow when she does attempt a proper emotional story beat (often ending up more a shitty apologist self-insert esque meltdown which resets an already resolved storyline, enter repeating cycle)

The animated series I wished got it revival was original teen titan show megas xlr sym bionic titan transformers the animated series and thundercats 2011 reboot series the same way it revived samurai jack young justice star wars the clone wars and most recently x-men 97
the bottom line is when children become adults and get jobs in Hollywood they enjoy making movies about things they grew up on. Only change is the internet exists. And multiple woke bs films made us paranoid.

the one series i feel mixed on if it's just nostalgia or i deserves all the spin off because eve the original had such wide appear and consepts is adventure time after season 3 or 4 it because an anthology series and it being a franchise in itself really works and the tital being so simple as just time to watch some adventures will they be series,silly,grand,simple who cares it's well written one of the best epsiodes in the later seasons was jake being a brick in a old broke house wall and accidental becoming a radio host dramatic reader
