A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his UA-cam channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

I've had my Martin D28 since 1972. I was 12. I am 61 now. Next year will be my Martin's 50th birthday! I've taken it everywhere. It has a few scars. Nothing terrible but it makes it mine. Martins are lifetime guitars. They take a piece of your heart and keep it. And in return they give you years and years and decades of inspiration. Even with all the age and a few scars, or even because of it, it is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.
Thanks so much! I’m excited to begin the journey!
Wow, someone handed you a Stradivarius when you were only a kid. You lucky so-and-so. I envy you. 😳
My HD28E Retro is how 4yrs old :) can’t wait to grow old with it :)
The Martin Guitar factory and Museum is actually located in Nazareth, PA -- not Bethlehem. Interestingly, the lyric, "I pulled into Nazareth...", from the song 'The Weight' (by The Band), is a reference to that town. P.S.: that's not an "extra" bridge pin...it's the strap button for the bottom of the guitar. Congrats on the new 'D'!!
That's right..."pulled into Nazareth" where they make Martin guitars. Not a reference to Jesus.
Bethlehem? My Martin was made in Nazareth 😇
My bad!
I love how Martin saw your Taylor video and then said... WE’RE sending you a better guitar. 😎
Lol!
Martin: hold my beer…. Lol
I bought my D-35 in 1974 for $400.00 with case.
I bought a Martin HD28 in 2008 Sean. Now 13 years later I'm still mesmerized and totally taken by the sound. And the smell of the wood through the soundhole is intoxicating. I'm so happy for you! The excitement from you in the video just reverberated through my screen!
It still smells after 13 years? Crikey. I bought a D-35 in July and assumed the smell would go within the year. Rosewood is a funny smell - like ditch water?
I love you Sean, but I feel a tiny bit of jealousy creeping in. Not over the Martin specifically, because I'm not that fond of Martin acoustics, but companies just won't stop sending you guitars. Why? Why not me? Just because I don't post any videos anymore? just because I have only one friend who doesn't play guitar and not almost 400,000 subs? Any kind of gentleman would have offered Katie the guitar given that you have so many. But wait. Why Katie and not me? @11:10 coyly making sure not to offend the next company who already has the next guitar on the truck and coming your way. Well done my man, well done.
kevin O'Rourke
Thanks for recognizing :)
Would love a video on the difference between the "Martin sound" and the "Taylor sound" highlighting the new d35 and the taylor 8 series? Also how bout more breezin up tees in your videos?
Definitely will do that soon!
Gr8 idea 💡
Please consider playing 'Future Days' or 'Wayfaring Stranger' or 'Far From Any Road' or 'True Faith' (Lotte Kestner cover version) 😎
Now the heartache begins. You can be made of marshmallow and live in a land of cotton-wool and that dang guitar will still ding, dent and scratch. It's all down hill from here on in, tee-hee. I bought a D-35 in July, which I adore. I bought the D-35 because the bracing struts are thinner than those on the D-28 - more resonance, more sustain (I guess). I love it to death, it's a cannon. Not sure about that white trim along the side of the neck though. The case is horrible in my opinion. If you are not EXTREMELY careful you catch the guitar on the aluminium edges - which genius thought of that? The action's a bit high for me and I keep catching my fingers on the nut. Why did you choose the D-35 over the D-28 and D-18? 🤔🤔🤔You're lucky living in North America - you get a lifetime guarantee from Martin I believe. Sadly, we don't get that in Europe. 😔
Why do folk hang guitars on walls - dust? creepy crawlies, moisture, temperature drop, drying out, mold, bird nests - has the World gone completely bonkers? What are you thinking, people? 😱😱😱
I’d like to see a shoot out with your Taylor 617 and your new Martin. Also, does the nut width of 1 3/4” feel more comfortable or 1 11/16?
Martins are just something else, man. I got an '86 D-41 a year ago and there is nothing like a good martin sound
Man that's so cool! I had a chance to play an '83 d-35 at a music store years ago and i regret not making it happen
Wow! That is a gorgeous guitar. Sounds so good. As soon as I get a free one, we can jam. Kudos.
Thanks for watching!
Congratulations Sean! You make that D35 sing.
Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the tone of the Taylor you unboxed the other day. This, however, sounded amazing straight away. Just perfect.
Thanks so much Duane!
Congrats!!! Im missing this one ... I have D-18 and D-28 once I get the D-35 ill have the holy trinity and be fully complete ;)
I also like dreadnought martins specifically because you can beat the hell out of it when you play and that big body always has something more to give.
Definitely responds well to driving it
I decided to upgrade from my Martin MMV and ordered a HD35. While at my local Guitar Center I played a D28. No comparison with the sound. I plan on bringing the MMV with me so I can hear them side by side. Thank you for an inspiring video you two!
That's so cool! You're gonna love it!
Great video Sean. I'm thinking about to purchase a Martin D 35 to play fingerpicking. Is this guitar suitable to play fingerpicking? My local store only have the series D16, 18, 28, 35 and 41. I played the D16, D18, and D28, but I found their sound low. Sadly, these are the only available models in the store. What guitar would you chose betwenn the Martin D35 and D41 to play fingerpicking and strumming?
Can't go wrong either way! I personally think the D35 is where it's at. I think it's best value model. The 41 is amazing as well, but for me and my style (and I do play a lot of fingerstyle), I don't need anything more than a 35.
I'm thinking Katie looks really great today, and the guitar is nice too. Something is missing, and I think it is a nice leather jacket.
Hopefully coming soon!
@@seandaniel23 if you're gonna play the tough guy in a soap you'll need it!
I got my Martin D-35 three days ago. Impossible to put down. I own an Alvarez Yarri, the older Japanese version. Which is a great guitar. But the Martin D-35 is like a grand piano. Every note sings.
Congratulations.
Funny, I found this vid, after placing an order for a D-35, today. Yeah, I'm stroked, it will be here in three days, and just like you two, I will be gushing over my D-35, when I unbox it, in three days, of course.
The anticipation ... :D
Oh man CONGRATS!!! you’re gonna love it!
I think Katie Lowe what's that guitar 😂😂lol.!!
Poor Sean. He hangs out with beautiful women. Top manufacturers send him incredible guitars. He writes amazing songs about dead people frozen in time. But he can’t land a part in a Hallmark Christmas movie. Yet.
A very sobering reality
D-35 is my favorite Martin. I've owned several, and currently own a Johnny Cash D-35
George Washington died in 1799, but he could have been having a virtual cup o' tea in 1833 - along with his Heritage Pumpkin candle...
;)
Nice, a new girl with a knife...excellent...
Take Katie with you to PA and if you fly into Philly stop at Nicks Roast Beef on 20th and Washington. You won't be disappointed
Is that Old Original Nicks Roast Beef? The food is fire. I don’t know if S-Diddy will go-he might have to pay.
@@gotruut9145 You know it. I worked over t UPENN hospital and used to hit it up on Fridays.
My first guitar i ever bought in 1986..a used Martin 1973 d35 for 550$..had a pick up put in about ten years ago..play it every day..sounds great..will turn 50 in two years..🎸
When I opened up my new Martin D-28 earlier this year, same sensual over load: The smell, the elegant simplicity of it, the fact Paul McCartney used a D-28 to record Blackbird at Abbey Road, the fact my first name is Martin (wanting to get the Mrs. a Martin Owner t-shirt). And the first strum…huge loads of big aural goodness filled the room! Enjoy man, months later, I’m still giddy over mine!
Thanks so much Martin! Glad we shared the experience!
There we go! That's such a nice sound--so beautiful, so articulate! Congrats!
Thanks so much Charles!
Okay, I'm jealous. That thing sounds immense. I bet the 614 would sound amazing filling in some embellishments with that D35 carrying a song.
Thanks Davis! I'm so excited!
I have an HD28 but man oh man that 35 sounds great. Might need to go try one this weekend
Hii... Can u pls guide me where should i order this exact guitar???? I'm from India...
I’ve wondered about a D35,never played one but I’ve had a D18 but didn’t like the feel of it, I currently have a D28 that feels great to play I also have a HD28 that sounds good but slightly harder to play for some reason but my go to guitar is my D15 , I’ve also wondered about a D42.
I’ll keep dreaming
Love my two Martin guitars. Quality. Quality. Quality. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching. I'm loving the D-35
Congrats. Since they made signature D-35's for Johnny Cash and David Gilmour you might want to do Ring of Fire or Wish You Were Here.
Good idea ;)
Here's a thing. Tony Polecastro (Acoustic Challenge) and Chris McKee (Alamo Music Centre) both play hundreds of guitars yet both cite the D-35 guitar as their 'Go-To' Guitar - I wonder why? David Gilmore could easily afford a super-fancy inlaid custom acoustic yet swears by his battered old D-35 - I wonder why?🤔🤔🤔 p.s. Dude, have you played a Guild D-55? It will blow your socks off.
Love my D-28 and I am barely a guitar player!!! Now you can play some proper music--Dylan---Hank Williams---well. if you have the soul!!!!! C'mon man....,
I found it! HOW did I miss this video?? (I cringed seeing the guitar hit the case twice lol!) WOW SO FUN!! I’m laughing at myself for being so excited for you hahah!
VERY BEAUTIFUL, GREAT CURVES, SMELLS AMAZING, SUCH A SWEET VOICE, DOES SHE HAVE A SISTER???? oh, the guitar? not bad. JUST KIDDING!!!!! IM SO JELLY!!!! I WANT A MARTIN!!!!! and her
I spent a long time of the opinion that the Martin dreadnought sound didn't really do anything for me, and I was willing to wait until the right one came around. A used HD-28 pretty much fell in my lap when I went to have my Larrivee D-03 worked on and I'm eating crow and enjoying the sound. I'm still in love with my Larrivee, it's a wonderful example of a mahogany dread, but Martin dreads in Rosewood really are something special.
Love Martin guitars but I came to see the fine dame right here. She a 10.
Katie is pretty great!
You’re Spoiled
Nothing better than new guitar smell! D-35! Congrats Sean!!! That IS a dream guitar! Your instrumental piece is gorgeous - really spotlights the resonance and “heritage” of the Martin.
Hahahahahahe............... I FELT The EXACT same Way When I Got My First Martin, (a Jumbo, jc-16gte/ and my 2nd & 3rd Martin dreadnought, DC AURA/ yep 2 Twins from 2008) Now Replacement Cost= 9,600.00 each ! Ol West
I'd like to hear you play the theme from "Bonanza."
by special request!
OMG how beautiful! The sound is amazing!
I have a smaller Martin, but this produces a full, rich & deep sound to it.
Such a great sounding guitar!
Very nice. I bought a new D-18 a few months ago. Mahogany back and sides rather than the D-35's rosewood. I already had a rosewood dread so figured I should try something new. I'm very pleased with it.
Congrats Kevin!
I'm in! Want it desperately, so I log on....$3,000. Sigh.....but, it's calling me. Big time.
I would be jealous but I am too busy just enjoying your happiness. Your reaction just brings me so much joy :)
Girls and guitars 24/7
Just might be the way to get to heaven
Trying my best Rich!
No, that IS heaven!
That sound is just the best I have ever heard you produce. That’s how a guitar should sound. A great guitar for a great player.
So Martin is boxing their guitars just like any old guitar now??? In the early '90s I unboxed a couple in the back of the Guitar Center in San Jose. Each one took five minutes. I'm disappointed.
How cool to see katie do a unboxing, actually she could just read the phonebook and I'd be happy and congrats Sean on that beautiful sounding guitar. Looking forward to hearing you and katie break this baby in......most excited I've seen you over a new guitar......You 2 need to get a room....funny..Sean the ever good guy hands it over to Katie, Sean your a good man
Well, now Katie scares me while she is opening a box with a knife. What an incredible guitar, tone sounds so full.
skywalker sound ? LOMAO
by the way George Washington died in December 1799
Gonna have to teach her a little "proper way to, with a knife" thing there.
Looks very nice, amazing on camera, I can't imagine in person. Happy Jack : )
Thanks so much!
Dude ! can you please share your secret on how you're scoring all the free guitars? Sheesh ... you're killing it lately. Oh, BTW Kucklehead, it's Nazareth, PA, not Bethlehem. Get your biblical references straight. Looking forward to hearing more great music from that sweet D-35. Congrats!!! 👍
I'm pretty sure it's actually on Mt Olympus
@@seandaniel23 Dude ... you're even more of a knucklehead than I thought. Stop mixing greek mythology with biblical references. Zeus is not going to save you from your ignoramusnous. I think Martin should insist that you return the guitar due to this egregious faux pas, but I don't really understand the power of social media influencers. Damn... I wish I could score some free guitars!!!
I bought my first Martin, which I still have, in 1973, a D-18. There really is nothing like them!
D35 yep that's the one I was liking. Heritage vs latest tech shoot-out !
You know it!
Sean: "i don't want to give away what guitar is in this box"
also Sean: put's guitar model in the video title
Just doing a little research on the D35 and ran across this vid. I have to say she definitely looks like a keeper. Oh, you might want to consider keeping the guitar as well!
This guitar sounds awesome. I went to the Martin factory in Bethlehem PA a couple years ago and got a Sound hole cutout. That's about the only Martin i can afford ;)
haha, thanks for watching
I have to say, I have always loved my Gibson J50 as a full body sound, but this Martin is comparable...nice
I have a 2015 Martin D 35. Incredible instrument. It’s so fun to play. Beautiful three piece back. It also smells really good.
Man, I would be way more careful opening a brand new guitar like that.
I get so edgy on guitar unboxing videos when people lay the case on their lap, open it towards the camera, and then reach over to remove the guitar. I worry so much that they'll lose grip/balance of the case and that they'll scratch the guitar with the metal latches.
By the way, your girlfriend totally banged the guitar against the case at 3:49, and then brings it awfully close to the button on her jeans. 🙈 I would not trust her with nice things.
Isn’t Martin’s factory in Nazareth? Not Bethlehem?
Yeah my bad, we're staying in Bethlehem when we go to visit
@@seandaniel23 Who is coming with ya? Will Martin let you film in the factory?
I'm sorry Sean but now there is no excuse for buzzing, dead notes and less than perfect song writing. Take a lesson from Katie. Great guitar.
I felt the tension when you didnt spill what model is in the box… especially because its in the title 😂 congrats on being sponsored by Martin you deserve it!
I just knew she was going to bang that guitar into the case and at 3:50 she did; to a brand new guitar. Good thing she did not hit the case metal trim. I have a D-35 and my now 4-year-old has dented it at least 6 places so I feel the pain watching this.
I can't like this Martin I have Martin guitars and Taylor guitars but I think this is not a good sounding guitar,Not being mean I think I would be looking for a different one .My Martin guitars I had to play a lot of them to get one I really loved.
I recently bought a 1977 D 28 natural then I said f it I bought a new D 28 and not disappointed 👍
I have a Martin D-35e and I love it!
Another free guitar that isn't really free, there are always strings attached. ;) Punny, right?
I had one before !! Really lovely guitar !!
I LOVE the D-35. I don't own one...yet. But I would legitimately choose it over a D-45.
It's amazing!
Not if you played them side by side
The smell is so sweet they need to make a candle 🕯
I agree
That Martin sounds amazing. I expected it to be good but every open chord sounded like a song beginning. Definitely heard “Engine Driver” by the Decemberists.
Order a “Lansky 4-Rod Turn Box” knife sharpener for $20. Will keep your Benchmade very sharp and requires no skill. It will make your kitchen knives better than new also.
The D 15M is my next purchase. I just picked up a Resonator I am enjoying at present.
d35 is the dream. enjoy
Thanks so much!
Some very Andrea knife technique. Not quite the same as the real thing, you weren't nearly worried enough
That is Awesome! It sounds as beautiful as I expected! You will simply love it. My first real guitar was a Martin D-35. I didn't even know much about them at the time, other than I loved their sound. That set me on an adventure. Over the years I've been fortunate enough to pick up 3 more Martins, a J-16CE maple, a 000-15M, and a 000-28 Reimigined, the 28 is the only one I bought new. I love all things martin.
Good for you! Nice to see someone sincerely appreciate something.
It's Fragile',,, Congratulations!! A bucket list instrument
An Emeryld Ryders inspired guitar, we’re all Green with envy.
We ryde!
I was under the impression that the tortoise shell pick guard is on the hd35 and the d35 has a black one?
Congratulations on your newest addition. Lately, I have been particularly enamored of the sound of a D-chord played as a first position C-chord slid up two frets. It was cool to see that you apparently like it as well. Enjoy your videos.
Sean my only complaint is I don’t have many more like buttons to press. Amazing brother. Having one of those to hold in my hands will only be a dream. I am so happy for you and them I could listen to it all day.
How do you get a these birthday present could you post me one please for Christmas the only trouble is I live in the UK
Katie is just so dang cool, she gets excited as well. Sean is over the top with it and yet what does he do ? He hands it to katie to check out ,so cool
Well done, Well played and be well all of the Ryder clan. Enjoy
We ryde!
I have Martin D 35 one of the best acoustic guitars I have ever played
"If you see Jesus, can you say Hi." Love that comment. :)
beautiful guitar and Katie is also , sounds great
Thanks for watching Max!
I have an HD-35 from 2000 that still smells like that. Enjoy!
Such a great guitar! Sounds absolutely amazing!!
Thanks Thomas!
Bro the hell. Lucky sonofagun gettin sent amazing guitars. Good on ya man
Don't wanna reveal what guitar he got. But writes it in the headline 🤷🏼♂️😅
