    Jesus Christ. You people need to be patient. I've been waiting for this game since it was first announced and I'll wait even longer if I have to. They're not trying to release a broken game so just be patient and stop acting like whiny little brats. Let the people make their damn game. Go find a hobby. Go outside. There's an entire world out there for you to explore. And soon enough you'll be able to explore an entire universe. Be patient.

      +Daniel Maier Quit telling us what to do...that's more annoying than the people wanting a release date. Also, I don't think wanting a date is too much to ask anyways considering we were told we'd get one "soon" FIVE FUCKING MONTHS AGO.
      Quit acting like an entitled brat.

    • @FlyingMinos
      @FlyingMinos 9 років тому +16

      +Logical Reason So "soon", from your persepctive, has expired has it? Because I, too, remember Sean saying "soon" and I still think "soon" is definitely a unit of time that is still going. So it's subjective really. If we are talking about entitlement, then it's time you look at yourself. You are literally suggesting "soon" meant "less than five months" but thats totally subjective.
      Also, E3 was under four months ago, so if you're gonna say it, say it right.

    • @AndroidVageta1
      @AndroidVageta1 9 років тому +2

      +Steffan Clarke It's not "soon from my perspctive"...soon means "in or after a short time."
      Months after the fact isn't "soon". Do you even dictionary bruh? A definition of a word isn't subjective. It was a bad choice of words from Sean, that's all there is to it. Quit trying to defend what someone said by trying to change the meaning of the word they used LOL! Damn son...

      +Logical Reason hey Vsauce Michael here, so time what is it? We know there's 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day... And 365.... And a quarter days in a year. Well, that's great we have our units of time but what we don't have... Is a scale. So what's a second? That is obviously a question that must be asked to understand the concept of time and it's scale. Well a second is the time it takes for the outer most electron on a caesium atom to oscillate between two of the atoms energy levels.... 9.2 billion times. That... is... a lot, and this sense of "time" we have is actually our own individual experience. The phrase "times passes quicker when you're having fun" is a common term I'm sure many of you know, but is it true? Well, yes, and.... no... From our perspective time appears to be moving faster but in actual fact it isn't. So whatever you're doing however glum you feel, know that time passes quicker the slower you move, and as always, thanks for watching

    Man I can't wait for this game OMG. This is the game I have been waiting for. And I am fine waiting until it is completely finished. Day this releases Im using 3 vacation days to call off work, grabbing a half oz of the best indica at my local dispensary, buy a couple 12 packs of Blue Moon, about 5 large frozen pizzas, closing all my blinds and will disappear from the earth.

    I'm a fan of this project. Or rather, I'm a fan of the thought behind this project: I agree with his earlier quotes that games can be so predictive that you already know how long you're going to be playing it in the tutorial phase.
    That being said, I'm not sure if "procedurally generated" is really the holy grail as it's sometimes hailed to be. Having a possible 18 trillion variations of planets is astounding and cool, but if 4 million of those are just planets with slightly different accents of green on slightly different shaped creatures on slightly different spots, it's going to get tedious rather fast.
    If you've seen the excesses that one slider is capable of, then all the rest of the variations in between are just going to be filler rather quickly.
    He mentions that in this video: he says that the biggest problem is that math just isn't very creative, but he doesn't go into how they tried to solve that at all - which I why I share the worry that this could go into the Spore-territory where conceptually the game is just breathtaking but the reality is that it gets kinda old kinda fast (and that's not even mentioning the gameplay)

    • @lucaserivanio4131
      @lucaserivanio4131 9 років тому

      Gorilla Fang for what i noticed the planets are not even or moon size, you can see a bit of that by the size of the atmosfere, is very small you can go out of a planet atmosfere and go back very fast, because of that i think that the oceans aren't going to be half deeper then the atmosfere

    • @kidspirit
      @kidspirit 9 років тому +3

      +lucas erivânio I remember watching several interviews in which Sean Murray from Hello Games was responding to questions about the possibility of finding and joining your friends in the game for co-op play. He said that even if you both land on the same planet, the chances of you finding each other would still be extremely slim because planets are full-sized. It would be like finding your friend if you were both dropped at random places on Earth.

    • @lucaserivanio4131
      @lucaserivanio4131 9 років тому

      Gorilla Fang well if we are dropp randomly in a place half of the moon size would still be extremely slim to find each other. planets have diferents sizes so when he said planets full-sized he was refering to small planets, but if he was refering to earth then i dont think he have notion of the earth size, remember that he dont want to make a reality or scientific accurate game that's why the planets distance to each other are so small, is more small then the earth moon distance.
      still i hope i m wrong because i want to explore really deep seas and find cthulhu sized creatures there

    You guys realize that this game is going to be the biggest let down of 2016 right?
    You're all just getting hyped because you see something you can't have. Once it's in your hands you're going to realize that the gameplay is so repetitive and tedious. Go here. Scan elements. Mine elements. Go to new world. That's it.
    It's going to get really old. Really quick. Mark my words. You know I'm right.

      +Fedoro McGentleman you're not wrong, I think a lot of people will be let down by this. But I know there will be a substantial number of people who really are interested in a game that almost solely consists of discovering and exploring a full scale galaxy. This is something all cosmology-enthusiasts have dreamt about, and this game is going to at the very least, deliver just that experience. Niche games have their place in the gaming industry.

    I hope that life is actually much rarer than it seems to be as that would make discovering worlds that have life so much more exciting.
    Also not sure if this is just for demo but to have so many different creatures crammed together is very unrealistic and seems odd. It would be better if you had to travel the planet to discover different species or even hunt them and they were more spread out and enjoyed different habitats.
    Finally on creatures, they need to have some AI beyond "flee" in front of camera.
    Some need to be much more illusive, some flighty, some curious, some tame, others aggressive and some predatory.
    If they can pull all that off and get enough variety to the planets so they don't look samey, which some already do in these demos, then it will be epic regardless of the main gamepaly just for exploration and adventure.
    One last thing. Really hope for some dynamic weather and atmospheres that affect gameplay.

    The robot's attacking thing seems like a half generated idea to show off some combat but he hasn't explained anything else. I want this game just for the exploration factor alone, but many people out there want gameplay over "going anywhere you please" and I get their concerns as well.

    im really hoping theres more to do in this game like possible missions etc since as as endless as this game seems doing the same thing on millions of random planets will eventually get dull. im not complaining this game looks amazing an cant wait to play it im just hoping it has a bit more depth rather than just being a great way to show off a great way to create games

    For one thing I really hope the entity count can reach extremely high, especially in waters it feels unrealistic to have this zone of natural tranquility freshly discovered that has not been touched upon by industrialization or even any sentient beings, and the oceans are not even close to filled with as much fish as they should be. Also, don't forget insects, randomly generated insects and bugs of varying size would increase the immersion

    • @Happycorp5
      @Happycorp5 9 років тому

      It's explained that many species of sentient, industrious life has been driven of their planets by these AI defence drones, the drones try to preserve the natural order of things kind of like the Reapers in Mass Effect. Besides we live in a galaxy home to roughly 230 billion stars, each of those stars could be home to 5-15 exo planets and 1/15 of those planets could be home to wildlife. So not every world has been found yet.

    I'm wondering if there actually are caves, since that would require some additional coding that nearly no developer wanted to go through till today.
    Also how well does the creature creator work? Because that's the hurdle that made it near impossible to make an evolution based game. The only game that attempted to do that and was successful was Spore and that's a very old game today ... I wonder what happened there in between.

    • @Aquaified
      @Aquaified 8 років тому

      Caves are confirmed, there was some IGN gameplay where he went in a cave. The creature generator is awesome, you'll never see two creatures that look the same. It's not evolution though, it's like he said, different characteristics increased or decreased until a completely different creature is formed.

    I don't understand why people are constantly saying it will be boring as hell. We've constantly been shown one sort of planet and the game is not even finished and doesn't have a release date. Just wait for it to come out, try it and then make your conclusions about it. It's merely guessing right now, so it's a bit soon to say that it will suck and be boring.

  • @DonutfullAwesomeness

    I don't know how I feel about everything being just random.
    Obviously, what I'm about to suggest would be pretty hard, if not impossible, but, wouldn't it be cool of every ecosystem adapted to itself? we saw evolution in action. There's giant predators on a plane so the smaller herbivores develop camoflauge, or a world is full of deep canyons and deeper rivers so the world is full of flying creatures and angler fish like creatures. I dunno, I think that would be cooler than just sliders.

    I wouldn't even mind that this game's only mechanic is exploration if the stuff you could find was actually strange and interesting, but all they're doing is starting with a few basic template creatures and stretching them a bit. You'll never actually find anything bizarre. We were all disappointed with the "procedural generation" in Spore and we'll all be disappointed with it in this.

    you guys need to take a min and remember back to when minecraft first started asking for crowd funding in the early build. i was one of those pc gamers that bought in on that game. a game that at the time if you had seen a demo would have been no more than a tech demo. no idea of what to do or what is in the game...just the idea of a vast world to explore in was what you were given at first. then with time and money the small team lead by Notch added things to the game. over the years the game grew and grew and more and more gamers bought in. now look at he game some 10 or so years later and it is one of the most played games of all time, Hello games has already said this is their baby for life. that they will add more and more to the game as time and money come. so all these things that some of you want in a game like this...a real multi player option, base building option, the level of detail on any said planet...all of these kinda things can and most likely will be added to the game over time in future version of the game...much like ender man or horse's were add in minecraft... small dev teams like hello games and mojang have to build games like this...especially when their games are so large in scope.

  • @codediporpal
    @codediporpal 9 років тому

    Yeah procedural generation is cool. I've written programs that use it. Minecraft "survival mode" uses it. There are even Minecraft mods that let you create crazy worlds.
    It's interesting to explore for a while, but it gets boring quick when you realize it's just the illusion of an organic world.
    It looks like NMS has been really creative with math generated terrain, but I have yet to see ANYTHING that suggest this game will actually be fun to play.
