Hi Joyce, Thank you for another great video. I haven’t stayed at this hotel before but it looks really nice. I stayed at the Banyan tree the last time I stayed at Bangkok and because of my Accor platinum rewards I was elevated to a king executive suite. It blew my mind and all meals and drinks and I do mean all types of drinks were included in the price of the room. I loved it so much I am staying there again when I fly back to Thailand in October. Truly an amazing experience. Please keep making your beautiful and informative videos. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 from 🇦🇺👍🏼
Remember that wages in the service sector are low in 🇹🇭, it will cost even more in other countries. So despite the inflation of the last couple of years...Great hotels are still good value in Thailand🙂
Very nice video. I always wanted to stay there... there are lots of interesting hotels to explore in BKK. I always like to visit hotels which where there already 50 years ago for getting the vibe. I learned from you that vibe is very important. On the other side of the price range I stayed at the Manhatten hotel on Suk last time. Gives you nice 1960s retro vibe, but is not bougie :)
An impressive stay, Joyce. Five-star hotels are fun as a novelty, as long as someone else is paying for it! I inadvertently ended up in the choice suite at the Marriott Hotel in Jakarta with my wife due to forgetting to book ahead, at USD 700+ a night. Ouch. My wife being from the Guangxi, China countryside, was impressed for less than 30 seconds until she found out the price. Then I was chastised for 3 days about the cost, even though I told her I could charge half to clients. Hence, our choice of the Park Plaza Sukhumvit in Bangkok, until we move there in 3 months. If I ever talk her into coming for a visit back to Canada or the U.S., I best stick with Super 8 or Holiday Inn.
Ah - five star hotels. These were quite nice in my younger days. But the novelty wears off with age. Now in my 7th decade and 4th decade visiting Bangkok, I find I can sleep comfortably on sofas, chairs, floors, benches, sewer pipes, etc. just as well as the King Size bed. I guess that comes from a life with 8 grandchildren crawling all over you as well as numerous dogs and cats. But enjoy the “good” life while you can, Joyce!!! 6:55
Last year My Agent sent me to Bangkok and the company there had me stay at the Amari Bangkok. It was a Beautiful 5 star. But there is something about The Mandarin Oriental that is more welcoming. With great soft-spoken staff.
yup, lived there for 7 months working for Bangkok Bank. Loved it. Thailand is on my list of possible countries to retire to. Hope you stick around in Thailand, just love your videos.
500 is not affordable even for Westerners. But if it's for a a few days out of a 2 week trip I can see it's more acceptable as a splurge and pamper. But like Joyce, a 30-50/night can be pretty good too. They're are def fancy hotels but they don't have the recognition as Oriental as a tourist attraction or Western hotels that are typically priced higher.
Thanks for the review. I am not sure it is worth the price considering the other luxury choices in the area. Especially the ones with direct access to the trains. I did like the boat but per your comments that is only free to those with that hotel brand status.
Lots of fantastic and affordable rooms in Bangkok. No need to pay 20k per night but good luck to you if you have the money 😅. Oh yeah and everyone jumps on those boats aka not only guests 😂
You can one fish or can have 500 fish. But you can’t have 10 fishes 😅. But if you want to describe a fish, you can say, “The fish’s mouth is big”. That’s your free English lesson for the day. 😊
She might be sponsored by Mandarin Oriental lol. Sometimes these 5 star hotels invite influencers/ UA-camrs to stay for free. It’s a way for the hotel to promote their product.
"a lot of mirrors so you can reflect on your life" iconic
finally a man in mystery popping up.. cheers to u joyce!!

ขอให้คุณมีความสุขมากๆ ในการท่องเที่ยวในประเทศไทย
I actually looked for content about this hotel a while ago and didnt enjoy any of the videos I found - nice to see it from a UA-camr I already like 💗
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good Joyce looks in that dress.
Two things I remember from hotels in Thailand are 1. There is always a window from the sleep area into the bathroom. 2. Amazing breakfast spread.
“We don’t have umbrella…”. Umbrella in the cupboard from earlier scene: 👀. 😂😅

Bangkok hotels give you some of the best value for your money… fancy and affordable
Great video Joyce, you're glowing! Also did you find out who's that ghost that spooked you on the king size bed? Haha gah yao!
Yay new vid ❤

Wow!! Hope you guys had a good stay haha. I don't why I have a feeling that's Steve in the video. Let's guess & see 😜💕
Once in a while it is nice to do something extravagant. I hope you enjoyed your time there.
I like it when you wear glasses. It's so cute. 🥰
Room has many mirrors so you can reflect on your life! LOL, thank you for sharing!
Check out the Four Seasons Bangkok next. I personally prefer it over the Mandarin Oriental.
You add so much class to the hotel. A beautiful night view. And OMG, Coke 210 baht !!!! double argh.
Personally no hotel room is worth that kind of money but it was a very nice room and I thank you for showing it.
"someone can watch you" LOL Joyce what was that about? 😂😂😂

Very nice hotel! 😊 $500 vs $16 comparison though… so true. Ours is like $25/day but compared to staying at hotels and airbnbs… long term lease is 💯💯
I always wanted to visit this hotel. Thanks for saving me a trip. Great meeting you on the street today in Silom. Small world
nice meeting you Russ 😇
Joyce I love U & I love your vdo so much

I stayed in a 5-star hotel in Bangkok for $80USD. Had an infinity pool on the roof
Was counting the number of times you said ‘ bougie’😆

oh wow the bougie count in this one is through the roof
Yes. I am not particularly fond of this slang word. Bourgeois is bad enough. Please use Hi-so instead. It will make me so happy. 😂
@@gcitizenctk its an american thingy mate

IT HAS THE BOIZE SPEAKER! 😆

Do you keep the slippers?

Unless you grow up rich, being in that kind of environment for too long can be exhausting. Yeah, $16 a night in a condo is more comfy
Four Seasons is crazy pricey also.
Honestly you don’t need 20k a night in Bangkok…2k a night is bougie enough! 😂❤ according to my bank book! 😅
😊😊🥰
Geez even Waldorf is only 6000 baht per night for deposit.
Are you checking out wedding hotels? It's good you have a camera man to film for you 😄
How lovely🙏🏻
you really like the word bougie arent you ?

OMG... have you considered changing the name of your channel? "The Bougie B" 😄😄😄
"luhmao" ..LOL ^_^
Is that a thing now? First time I heard someone pronounce it.
So that was one months rent? lol Super interesting though, thanks.
How many times u used the word bougie? 5555
I feel Capella is nicer =P
Dear Joyce you will probably scold me for saying this but you fit right into the mandarin oriental inother words suits you girl.😂😂
A lot of "we" ... My guess is it's the guy in the pinkish shirt at 10:38 (?) to Joyce's left... 🤭
wrong timestamp 😮💨
Before I watch it I am going to say it's Oriental.

She’s likely a hi so millionaire
Capella is more expensive than MO
can we get a definition of bougie
So you are officially in a relationship, there is more honesty if revealed. Just 2c ..
Very expensive for me.ครับ

Yeah, coz someone who spends nearly 600usd for a night, is gonna be doing their own sewing....🤷♂🤣
You must be making a lot of money YouTubing now to be able to afford such a fancy hotel eh 😲
She might be sponsored by Mandarin Oriental lol. Sometimes these 5 star hotels invite influencers/ UA-camrs to stay for free. It’s a way for the hotel to promote their product.
@@Evaxdiarybut she said she deposited 10k baht
If you would like to buy an apartment near by,it is the name as Mandarin Oriental resident. The price is one hundred twenty million baht per unit.
