I 100% agree with all your reasons on moving to Bkk. I’m also Chinese American and moved here 10 years ago with my pregnant wife. At first it was supposed to be just a few years of fun and adventure in a new city but ended up getting comfortable with what this vibrant city got to offer. Still loving it and still don’t want to move back to America
Hi! Im thinking of moving to bkk from Southern California with my husband and son. Just wondering how much would a 2 bedrooms apartment be in central bkk? Just trying to get an idea to work the numbers, please answer, thanks! 😊
Near the centre of Bangkok is between $700 - $1,000. It's quite nice one. @@aquamoon88
You can find a rent of a decent 2 bd apartment for USd 500 a month.
@@aquamoon88 I'm also Chinese American, but I got the opposite vibes. I really don't like Thailand because people are basically atheists, therefore materialistic. It's the number 1 sin city after all.
@@awmsinaaa6975 ok thanks, how do I find such apartments? Should I get one first before I arrive or do I have to be there?
As a Thai person, I'm really happy to see someone that love my country. I really enjoy the video!
I love your country too. Can’t wait to get back there. Only a few more weeks! 😃
i agree 😂
I wish more Thais appreciate their country instead of thinking Western lifestyle, thinking, and country is the best. I feel stressed with usa culture and food, why I’m here in Thailand now and plan to retire here later. I understand we can take the best of each culture and make it our own. However, each time I observe Thai people and culture I’m so enamored and amazed at how clever and intelligent they approach things 😍
Meanwhile half of the world is moving to the USA. UA-cam is full of propagandists
@@jessehughes88 What do you like about thailand? I'm thai myself
I visited Bangkok alone two weeks ago and I miss it a lot!!! I did everything by myself and I enjoyed every second of it. As an introvert I love doing things alone because I don’t have to care what others want me to do lol. I really want to live in Bangkok because life in Canada now just sucks but I don’t know how I would support myself there 😢
I plan to visit again next year and I can’t wait!!!
Enjoy your life in Thailand 🇹🇭
My motto in life right now is “catching flights not feelings!”
Hi, I’m Thai living in Canada. There’re so much things to see and do in Thailand, which don’t take a fortune so i understand why you would love to live in Bangkok (and BKK is so lively). One way for you to make an income in Thailand to support yourself living there is to become an English teacher. Maybe you want to do some research into this. Best of luck and wish you lots of happiness.
@@sun_s9067 thank you! That’s great advice I will look into it 🙂 wishing you lots of happiness too!
I live in Thailand Everywhere in this world All have both advantages and disadvantages. I want you to be happy every time and every place. Looking forward to you coming back to Thailand again. (Sometimes I think I want to live in a snowy cabin in the deep forests of Canada. Where there is a fireplace and cut off from the outside world)

I’m a Korean American living in Thailand. I also moved here because there was was something about Thailand that kept resonating with me since I came here first as a teenager. I hope you enjoy your time here and eventually settle here.
Thai language is really hard to learn as a 2nd or 3rd language for foreigners. But hey, don't be shy to use it as much as you can while you're learning it. because we don't mind the wrong pronunciation or arrangement. On the other hand, we are really happy or even love it when foreigners try to use our language to communicate with us (so cute). worry not, i'm sure you can master Thai language no problem 😊
one day I will make a vid in Thai for you 😗

Don't worry , for most thai people, even you get A in Math or Physic , but you might fail Thai language exam.

As a born and raised ny’er that has been thinking about relocating to Bangkok, this has helped a lot! Keep posting!
I know what you mean, Bangkok is a city that keeps you going back. Every time I’m in BKK, I’ll go for a morning run at lumpini park where the morning scene is just so peaceful ❤ keep enjoying Bangkok !
GIRL u are so unintentionally funny, I can't tell if you're being 100%serious or not but I love all of it
Looking forward to coming back to Thailand next month (9th visit since 2017). Was last in BKK for 1 month in May ‘23 to see how I got on living in Thailand - absolutely love it and hopefully by end of 2024, l’ll be mortgage free and be financially independent and leaving the West to move to Thailand.
Happy that you love Thailand, as a Thai, there is a saying that "คับที่อยู่ได้ คับใจอยู่ยาก" Basically means, uncomfortable place to live is tolerable but uncomfortable heart is unbearable. Be anywhere and do anything that makes you happy and comfortable. Live your life at your own pace. Peace Out!!
I am a first time viewer of this video but it felt really warm and honest to watch it. It was just like talking to a long distance friend
Your unique personality and perspective makes ordinary events interesting!!!
I’ve been to Thailand 8 times and there is something about it that makes it feel like home. I always miss it when I’m not there. I’m Norwegian/American, by the way.
Glad to know you won’t be lonely while enjoying your own time in BKK! 😊 The Tones for me are the hardest since it could mean other words!
It’s added fun seeing your collaborations with other Thai and other creators in Bangkok and other cities especially when I didn’t expect to see your collaborations unexpectedly 😆
Welcome to Thailand, I am Thai and had been living in US for twenty years. I just came back to Bangkok for good. I wish you have a wonderful time here.
Kudos to you Joyce for following your dream. Living and travelling alone as a young women and feeling safe is a great testament for Bangkok.
I just moved back to Bangkok two weeks ago after three years abroad. Even though I grew up here, living in Bangkok still feels a little strange after two weeks. I randomly came across your video today, and surprisingly, it makes Bangkok feels a bit more like home again. Thank you for making this vlog! :)
As an extro-introverted 24-year-old myself, living in Bangkok, I'm totally on the same page as you!
Don't worry girly. You've got this! Keep up the fantastic work! 💕

I started watching your videos and really like the content. I'm also learning thai but understanding thai people speaking normally is the hardest part. Your videos (especially when you only speak thai) help a lot because you don't speak too fast. Btw learning to read is totally possible, maybe give it try. Take care
Hi Joyce! Really enjoyed your video and it made me feel less alone at the moment. I just moved to Bangkok from Melbourne Australia about a week ago and even though I am half Thai, I still feel very much like a foreigner. At the moment I feel very much alone but your video makes me want to keep going and do this Thai adventure on my own. Thank you Joyce!

Well of course you are half and a foreigner like me

I can totally agree with you about travelling alone, and making those experiences your own, that any there is no one to Diminish that memory and you’ll always own that experience .
I don't know why UA-cam recommended this video to me. But after watching it, I somehow decided to subscribe. I really like your personalities and the way you tell stories.
Dear Joyce. That was alot to take in. I think alot of your subscribers realise how special you are and when you bump into that special guy you will also know. Until then live your life girl. Regards Mike. 🙂

Love your vibe and your ambition ! As a content creator myself based in BKK. Its always great to see others having a good time and having a experience of their own to share. Smile all around 🙂
I've recently started watching travel videos to unwind which is probably why YT brought me here because at 54 I'm definitely not the target audience. I am however amazed to see a young person do a "moving to Thailand" video, the bulk that I've seen are from people a lot older. So brava and kudos for following your instincts and dreams. 👏
As for finding friendship and love, I hope you do. As time passes the moments spent together sharing a sunrise are what remain, not the hurt of a failed relationship. At least not if you know you were sincere and true and did your best. You will regret relationships that have ended where you know you held back. Because you will wonder if things could have been different if you were more open. But if you were committed and fair from the start and it still didn't work out, well maybe that just wasn't meant to be and that's ok.
Anyway, these are the ramblings of a man with some miles on the clock, hope you don't mind. Before I go though, the laundry list for an ideal man is cute. I have known several women with such lists all of whom are happy today with someone who wouldn't have made their list. The sooner you get rid of it the better. 😊
ขอให้คุณมีความสุขในประเทศไทย เราคนไทยภูมิใจในความเป็นไทย และยินดีต้อนรับคุณมาเป็นครอบครัวของเรา ดูแลตัวเอง
I’m 27 years old from America and I’ve been living in Thailand for 4-5 years (in Chiang Mai now) as a teacher. As an American citizen, if you want to stay in Thailand longer you should consider getting a TEFL certificate and teaching in Thailand. Anyways hope you enjoy living in Thailand, you seem like a chill person.
Loving the person you are when living in Bangkok: best reason I've heard so far!
Travel/tourism is a scam: yes!
Zoos are wrong: totally!
Afraid of being hurt? Avoiding suffering shouldn't be your compass. It's okay to be hurt sometimes.
"I like the person I become in Thailand." wow, exellent
god... You're describing my exact feeling about memories turning sour when the person you shared those memories with is gone for whatever reason.
I'm lonely but I also don't want to have friends or relationships.
I think most people aren't like that. They can still appreciate nice memories regardless of the current curcumstance.
Are we doomed to lonelyness forever? sigh....
I'm an American that just moved to Thailand. I am looking forward to learning Thai. Good luck!

I am Thai, but I had an experience living in the US for half a year and I really missed several things in Thailand. So, I decided to change my plan to go back to Thailand and now I am quite happy with my decision. The only thing I might regret is I wanna be better with my English skills, anyway, following some channels like yours can make me keep familiar with it. Hope you enjoy living in Thailand!
PS. Another bad thing here compared to the US is the poor air pollution in Thailand, especially Bangkok. lol.
I agree that if one speaks cantonese, they can pick up the Thai language rather easily. The tones are similar. The huge difference would be the rolling "r"s that cantonese speakers would have a hard time emulating.
Thai and Chinese have many grammatical features in common. Especially when it comes to verb sequence and idioms
The difference is that Thai adjective comes after noun and adverb comes after verb in contrast to Chinese
You don’t need to roll R to speak perfect Thai.
Thailand is super safe and amazing, I just left. I should have hit you up. I saw your video few weeks ago but I forgot you were there. I was living in China before for over 10 years. I can speak Chinese and English. I am American and thinking of starting a company in Thailand. There is a road to 2nd passport for Thailand for foreigners. I really love Thailand life and this it better then living in USA. Safe and Happiness level
The way you speak it's so soothing I turn this channel on while working as background ambient music.
After 1-2 years staying and learning Thai in BKK, you will definitely almost certainly nail Thai 100%, look at your speaking Thai right now, it’s already so much ahead of most of us👏🫶please teach me Thai afterwards once you nailed it, deal?👌

You're right. Thai is actually easy to speak because of little grammar rules. Just copy the Thai spoken in the "good" TV shows and listen to ordinary Thai from other shows. And you'll get it quick.

Maybe also because in Thailand you were still somewhat in "vacation" mode and didn't have the same responsibilities you have in the US. Then when you returned to the US, you're back to your routine and reality.
I've experienced this going to other countries, including Thailand. What I realized is because I was on vacation and didn't have the regular routine of work, paying bills, etc.
Not sure why your vlog showed up on my feed but I enjoyed hearing your story. I moved here when I was a bit older than you at the time. Best decision I ever made. Not saying everything was smooth sailing here. And yeah learning Thai for Cantonese or even Mandarin speakers makes it easier.

I've been binging your vlogs for the past few days (because as a thai currently not living in thailand, i like to torture myself watching ppl eat thai foods)and thinking "this girl is insane" you're in thailand but you're paying western prices for food, you can eat out much more frugally. love your vlogs and keep up the good work. P.S. wishing you happiness and don't cry too much, because my heart can't take it.🙂
we always welcome everyone. you can live and feel home here 🤗❤
Gotta admit it surprises me a bit for a foreigner to share that much of personal aspect of life. A westerner too, no less. And you seem to have grasped the "Thai-ness" quickly too, quite amazing there. Yes, people don't mean to be intrusive about other people's life, they're just curious mostly. And Thai people behave exactly like that to each other. They may bluntly ask something a bit personal that may give you a bit of a shock. But there's no rudeness or ill-intent in there. Anyway, mad respect for a young girl exploring life alone in a foreign country where there's only a few people speak her language. Good luck, girl.
I am Thai. My daughter is studying in Vancouver and my son is studying in Seattle at the moment. I would like to make you aware that you need to be a bit careful when living in Thailand. Thai people are generally quite nice by nature; they are easygoing, relaxed, fun, and sometimes laid-back. However, it's important not to trust people too easily. Living here is very comfortable, unlike major cities in the Western world. Nevertheless, every place has its pros and cons. Finding honesty here can be a challenge, so please be cautious.
she is smart. no worry.
I was gonna say the same thing, seems like she's getting ripped off by her landlord. According to different vdo, for 14k studio condo, She can find that same quality of her condo for only half-price elsewhere. She'll get a better deal once she develops better connection here tho, but still dangerous to live alone like this, in my opinion.
Joyce, be careful and take care, girl.
She is smart and vigilant..otherwise she would not have moved half way the world to live in BKK..any where in this world will have good & bad people!!
Super post. Thank you for sharing your experience/thoughts. Traveling and experiencing other cultures are eye opening and good for the soul 🤙🙏
Found myself smiling watching your clip 55555, yes I’m Thai American. Love your Tea
Stay here. Maybe you can find the right person 😊
Visa wise, if you limit yourself to 6 months per 12 months, you can stay on tourist visas / tourist entries, you'll be fine after the student visa's are finished... There are so many interesting places a short flight away, you can use Thailand as a base and stay in SE Asia visa free (Although the student visa makes it easy if you don't want the travel..).
Nice video!
And don't forget the Wat Saket and Wat Arun temple! Both of them are fantastic!
I'm in Bangkok alone at the moment to travel and got told the same thing by Thais when they heard I was travelling alone 😂 I have the same thoughts as you about dating as well, that fear of getting hurt is so real, maybe because we're the same age?
ironically it’s best to experience heartbreak sooner so you know how to handle it in the future 😩
Exactly 😂 the joys of finding/being in a relationship 😂🙃
