First BL-2S Traxxas Bigfoot? | Traxxas Stampede/Bigfoot BL-2S Upgrade

- Welcome to my first video on my first (hobby-grade) RC car-My Traxxas Bigfoot. It is, at its core, a Traxxas Stampede 2WD, with the only differences being the body and tires.
My particular Bigfoot/Stampede has a variety of upgrades, including (but not limited to) bearings on the axles, a stronger servo from my Hoss, and the TQi radio system with TSM receiver.
Today, however, I show off the newest addition to my Bigfoot: The new Traxxas BL-2S power system, to replace the XL-5/Titan 12T brushed system that it comes with stock. It is, I believe, the first Traxxas Bigfoot with the BL-2S system.
I am running it with a 21T pinion, which I think is the perfect mix of torque and speed for this truck.
If you enjoyed the video, please consider liking & subscribing, since this is a new channel and it would help out a lot.

Beautiful truck you got there, the BL-2S surely wakes this thing up more than the stock brushed system. I like that it runs cooler than a VXL so you can keep driving it for longer.
It’s so fun running in the snow and those conditions 👍
Yes it is! Although I have now ordered paddle tires for it because the stock tires can’t get much grip on the snow.
Very cool truck 💯🛻💨
Thanks
Good amount of power !
I am thinking about picking up one of these BL-2S systems. Can the motor connectors be used with another ESC?
I’m not sure. As of right now, I don’t think there’s any way to get the quick connector alone, so I don’t think so.
i put a velineon vxl on mine but yours is a beast
My brother has a VXL/Velineon system in his. We’re currently working on a video comparing the two systems on 2S.
I just came back to this vid because I'm heavily considering purchasing the BL-2S system off eBay for my Stampede 2WD, the truck is still running the original titan 12T but I'm afraid it will eventually stop working. Would you say you recommend the BL2S and does it feel more powerful to you than brushed? I'm not really a speed demon but I would like a reliable system and the slight added power is a bonus I guess.
It’s definitely more powerful. Even with how much I’ve geared it up, it still has more torque than the regular Titan 12T. In my opinion, the BL-2S motor is a better fit for the truck than the VXL or similar motors cause they just have way too much torque and make it extremely unstable (I’m working on a video comparing those two systems in the Bigfoot right now). Since the motor is vented, it will require a little more maintenance (just opening it up every once in a while and cleaning out any debris that has got inside), but as far as I’m concerned, that’s not much of a problem.
My brother and I have had XL-5 vehicles for years, and the Titan 12T is always the weak spot in the electronics of those trucks. Brushed motors aren’t reliable at all compared to brushless. I would recommends getting a brushless system, and the BL-2S system is the one that suits the Bigfoot/Stampede 2WD the best.
Are they going to do this for the 2wd Rustler?
Not sure. This is an upgrade I made to my Bigfoot. I think Traxxas’ eventual plan for this system is to replace their old brushed vehicles with it. They’ve already made a 2WD Slash BL-2S, so it’s possible they’ll make a BL-2S Rustler 2WD.
Do you think tsm would make a difference on the vxl truck
Absolutely. My brother is planning to get it for his VXL Bigfoot and then we’re going to remake this video with both truck on level ground in terms of control. The BL-2S truck would be just as uncontrollable if not for TSM
I have a bigfoot I ordered the vxl the magnum transmission and the tsm module with remote for it yesterday hoping I can keep it in one piece
You won’t regret getting the TSM. It’s great. I was honestly surprised at how well it works.
@@FalconfireRC thanks that’s exactly what I needed to hear
Is it faster or slower, is that 2s or 3s.. csn that esc run 3s?
It’s definitely faster, although that’s mostly down to the higher gearing (7 mos teeth than stock). On stock gearing, the BL-2S system would give it maybe another 1-2 miles per hour than the brushed one. The main advantage with being brushless is that a brushless motor runs cooler-so you can gear it higher and give it more speed without melting the motor.
The BL-2S ESC can only run 2S. I think the motor is capable of 3S if you paired it with a 3S ESC, but you would have to do some soldering wizardry to get the connectors to work.
@@FalconfireRC so it's faster than a brushed stampede.. what about a vxl stampede?
@@sugashizane It’s faster than a brushed Stampede, but a VXL Stampede would be faster on 3S. I’m not sure about on 2S.
My VXL system does not overheat.
You have to put fans on the motor n ESE and don't overhear Gear it
Maybe they’ve updated it then? The guy at our local hobby shop told us not to run the Velineon 3500 on 3S because it overheated the motor and locked it up even with fans, and I’ve talked to a lot of people who have had the same issue.
Vxl on 3s, and it wheelies forever
Not really. My brother’s Bigfoot/Stampede 2WD has the VXL system and even running 2S, it has way too much power and is unstable in wheelies. Just take a look at the video I’m uploading within the next few days showing the comparison of the two.
Maybe it would be better if it had a Magnum 272R
Don't cut them Traxxas electronic short brother I want to put the same motor and ESC in it
