Amazing breakdown of the MX Creative Console! 🖥️ Your explanation of its features and benefits really highlights its potential. Can’t wait to try it out! 🚀✨
Don’t underestimate the times you think of some people being curious about something. I’m a full time music producer and I use davinci happy you touched both
I have been around the block with numerous devices like this bc I find them so intriguing but man, they are just NOT WORTH IT. No matter the situation, you will always have and always NEED a regular keyboard while video editing, so why have a separate button panel that's tiny and won't cover all of your keys? The LED screen doesn't help you build the muscle memory needed to get faster, it forces you to look at the panel to know what you're hitting. What I've found is infinitely more helpful is to just customize your keyboard from scratch to the layout that actually works best for you. I started by taking the default keyboard and removing all the functions I never use. When you do that you realize just how ancient the default keyboard layout is, like who uses the zoom tool?? Why is taking up prime real estate on the Z key?? I remapped my keyboard layout to put most functions on the left hand including swapping JKL for ASD, and man it has changed everything for me! I'm able to keep my hand on the mouse so much more and making selects for me is now a one handed operation. The only benefit of a device like this is if you really want a dial. I don't personally find navigating the timeline this way to be as precise as JKL, but it is more useful for effects. I would recommend the monogram creative console smaller dials for those purposes over a single large jog wheel like this.
Oooh super exciting! Thanks for letting us know it works with Ableton too, Jiva I used to use various physical shuttles but they don't support them anymore
I'm puzzled about the choice of not making the 'jug wheel' with an indent for a finger, so you could dial it with the use of only one finger on top of it.
Great review. Really give me ideas of how I can utilise this more in my workflow. Initially was thinking it won't be useful as much considering I am familiar with keyboard shortcuts + mice. But the custom buttons are actually more customizable than I thought.
This tool seems perfect for speeding up workflows and reducing strain on my wrists while working. What OS does it work better with? MacOS or Windows 11?
Still can‘t see how this is better than just creating the shortcuts directly to the keyboard so you don‘t have to move your hand away at all and loose time everytime. Biggest timesaver for me was getting a mouse with 12 buttons at the thumb. Gives you sooo much more options. And for the lesser used shortcuts I use a streamdeck which has way more buttons. Than this. Also if you make makros via the excalibur plugin you can also add effects to layers via shortcuts ☝️☺️
yeah exactly: using excalibur with these kind of controllers will do the job, because you can even arrange multiple steps into one excalibur-action and then assign a wild keyboard-shortcut for this, which then is triggered by one of the mxconsole or stream deck button, so it should be possible to use a button for Ultra key, keying greensreen and one for Ultra key keying bluescreen... the same principle as fx-console from VC for after effects
I loved the concept of Loupedeck but I ended up using very little of its functionality because the interface led me to over-program - with an insane learning curve... and it was very expensive. I'm a keyboard editor but enjoy using the wheel for levels or contrast for color correcting, when mixing I like to use a wheel for clip volume, or buttons for switching shots in multi-cam. Simple stuff... I like what I'm seeing here - I just don't want to deal with a million layers of functionality.
Looks strikingly like a Loupedeck. I really like my Loupedeck Live, but don't make nearly enough use of it. Most of the time it's setup to adjust volume and scrub through UA-cam Videos (a knob sends left/right). My most app specific control is controlling debugging in VSCode (I'm a software developer). I always think I'll use it for video editing, etc. but it sits on my desk and I generally do video editing on-to-go with my laptop. If I'm doing a heap of Lightroom edits, it's really nice.
have you experienced the console with after effects? I'm wondering how useful this device is and how it lets control the transform properties for example, for example if by spinning the the knob will control the propetries easily with minimum clicks tnx
Thanks for the review. Looks really interesting, but I wonder - aside from the pretty pictures on the buttons - what it can do that my Contour Shuttle Pro can't? I have a Loupedeck+ which I use for Lightroom only, and I love it, but not sure the MX Creative Console is going to replace the Shuttle Pro for me.
I use a Shuttle Pro as well, and it's pretty great. Comes with 15 buttons and an outer AND inner shuttle wheel for fine tuned frame-by-frame scrolling. My experience with single wheel scroll like this, or like the Monogram CC, is they're either too slow, too fast, or not frame accurate. At least my Tangent has multiple scroll wheels. The Shuttle Pro requires more manual setup, and requires you know what you're doing though, so it's not nearly as user friendly as this Logitech thing. Plus, it doesn't have fancy light up LCD buttons, hah.
It's very similar to loupdeck but with less nobs and dials, it's also cheaper too so that's a bonus, personally I just want the loupdeck ct to be wireless and I'm happy with it
Thanks for the introduction to MX Creative Console. Are other photo programs such as Luminar supported? Not everyone has Adobe programs! As with the X idea of the Costolo, this is an issue at all.
The MX Creative Console supports Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Illustrator, and more. A list of currently supported plug-ins can be found on the Logitech Marketplace. They will be adding more support as it grows, so Luminar can be a requested plugin software
Nice review. On another note...Something Jiva said caught my ear. He said we can use a layer, or turn it into and adjustment layer. Can you show us an example of this technique and why it would be useful? It sounds intriguing and probably quite powerful and useful. Thanks for all you do!
The keyboard shortcuts CTRL+ and CTRL- (for step-by-step zooming) does not work (rotary roller, top right) with my German Apple Magic Keyboard because the MX Creative Console software expects an English QWERTY key assignment. CTRL- becomes CTRL / and CTRL+ becomes CTRL =. So for me, this thing is just a very expensive paperweight or simply electronic waste, because as a photographer and graphic designer I can’t work without step-by-step zooming, because I won't let Adobe turn me into a subscription (be-in-debt) slave. But there are no profiles for other programs (for MacOS). You have to put everything together yourself in time-consuming and laborious detail work. For me, the MX Creative Console is a brilliant idea, but a completely unfinished product. The market launch should have taken place in one or two years at the earliest, as soon as everything is fully developed and the software manufacturers have developed well thought-out profiles and plug-ins for it. For the time being, I do not recommend buying it.
This device looks like it is going on my Christmas Wish list. Since I don't have the Gal Keyboard (since it is not ergonomic), it wouldn't take me that long to assign my most used shortcuts to the new keypad! Thanks for the review!!! BTW, is there going to be an option for the Gal keyboard to be in a more ergonomic style??? As a Safety Manager in my day job, I always am looking for more ergonomically designed devices (keyboard, trackball mouse, etc.). In fact, I have been using only two different trackball mice for the last 26+ years. My massive Microsoft one finally died after 20 years of editing and I picked up the Logitech M570 and I love it. I used the trackball SOOOO much when I edit my videos for my channel.
You can get a keyboard wrist rest, but so far, next steps would likely be to design custom Gal shortcut key gel covers for Laptops and commonly used keyboards.
@@PremiereGal Thanks as always for the reply!!! I just cannot stand to type on a straight keyboard. The ergo option allows for my elbows to move away from my side and land perfectly on my ergonomic chair armrests. I feel more free this way than being all cramped on a straight keyboard. A person can only hope for an awesome Premiere Gal ergo backlit keyboard. 🙏🙏🙏 Keep up the great videos. It must be great to have an editor!!! Welcome to the team Jiva!!!
@@PremiereGal Yes, he must be because here I was thinking you were cutting and editing all your own videos. Glad that you have a team. But I bet you can remember back when you were living in that little world of "me, myself, and I" who did everything to create your videos.
Just assign a keyboard shortcut to the effect called "Apply Default Audio/Video transition" and then assign that shortcut to a button on the MX keypad.
@@AleHndz thanks! I already have the default transition set. I was hoping to have preset buttons for more than one though: 2 frame, 12 frame, 24 frame crossfades because I use them all so often.
This is totally off-topic but I would love to get your keyboard but it's just not ergonomic for me with the number keypad on the right. I'm right-handed so I have to angle my arm out which does not feel good to me And makes my wrist hurt more. Can you make a version Of your keyboard with the number pad on the left Or just get rid of the number pad altogether? Thanks for your videos!
We can't make a new version now, but we can consider it for future, other feedback is some people don't want a number pad at all. haha, and just to clarify, you are right or left handed?
Jiva is a musician also and yes, they have a music channel for their band in Thailand, you can check out their music and videos here: youtube.com/@imhavingabadday
Hmm..I've used the loupedeck and this at first glance seems more like a downgrade. The absolutely most useful parts of these devices are knobs you can rotate - for all sliders, brushes, edit views, zoom ins etc. The buttons are less useful as most professionals are used to keyboard shortcuts. So in the loupedeck I have 7 knobs - 6 small and 1 big. Here I have one. I'm wondering what would be the advantage of this new device after the company was bought by Logitech? Also having the device split in two, and having to remember to buy normal batteries? In 2024? ;)
it's a scam because I ordered it before the premiere and it hasn't been delivered to me yet and the consultants say that the package will arrive only in two or three weeks, that's a preorder

This will work well with the plug in "Excalibur" by The "Knights of the Editing Table"
I find it crazy that in 2024 we still do product with batteryAAA instead of a battery that can be recharge with USB C.
Yeah that is a deal breaker. Idiotic decision.

I have a Loupedeck+ which I use for Lightroom only, and I love it, but not sure the MX Creative Console is going to replace the Shuttle Pro for me.

its just a quick way to make an adjustment layer and add an effect to it like lumetri color or transform effect
Can you try this with the iPad? Without native intigration do things like the wheel work while editing photo/videos?
The Loupedeck Live was such a miserable experience that I’ll never try another device in this category.
programming singular effects in Premiere would be so helpful
ageeed!
EXCALIBUR would work neat with this
A lot of Excalibur comments here :) I have Excalibur and I'll send it over to Jiva so he can try it out with the MX Console.
I need this for the billion new bindings in Star Citizen.
Any idea how to actually connect it to Premiere Pro? I try to add it as a control surface and it doesnt show up as an option.
Can I use for vMix shortcuts
