    I’am from the States and after hearing a lot of campers give the OEX Bobcat l a good review. I wanted to order it.However, when I went to order it I couldn’t find it State side so I had to order it from England and pay big postage. I don’t camp in the winter so 3 season is good enough for me. It’s not all that heavy so I can carry it when bicycle touring. Also, I meditate and I wanted a tent that I could sit up in. Check that box for the Bobcat, as well. Om, guys. Thanks for the Vid.

      Hello again Daniel, I remember you saying you to meditation and yes for sure there is enough room to sit up easily l. I'm glad you managed to get one. It's a shame they don't ship to the States mate. Enjoy your adventures in it buddy. Have a good weekend, Ant

    A cracking tent for the money. It has its flaws, like every other tent. I use a trekking pole at the back. This pulls the fly up higher and away from the inner. If I know it’s going to be raining, I take a tarp to stop the rain going into the porch. Apart from that, it’s brilliant

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  День тому

      Hi Rob, yeah it's hands down one of the best tents I own. It will take some beating for any four season tent I'll ever own and its classed as a three season.
      Yeah we do that now with the trekking pole too matey, very handy isn't it!
      Yeah tarps are a massive advantage when it comes to bad weather. Thanks mate for the watch and comment

    I just ordered this after having the Blacks version, which apart from being yellow has been amazing for the last ten years, many many cycling trips done, the floor eventually started letting in a bit of moisture in very wet weather bu otherwise its stil good. I can only hope the OEX version is just as good - I like the porch groundsheet idea which wasn't on the Blacks model.

    I've used mine over four seasons in some challenging weather. The issue I have with it is, if I pitch with the porch on the leeward side, it doesn't take much wing to concave the windward wall in and rob what little space you have. I always seem to be in contact with the outer. Even using delta pegs. I did take a centimetre out of one pole section to make it easier to locate in the lugs. Also not great if you suffer with cramps in the morning!

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  Рік тому +2

      Morning James, good to know you have used it in all season pal. I will have to watch the pitch then when windy. I did think that that would be the issue that I would come across. I found the pole slightly tight but if you push down on the top of the pole when putting the opposing side in so that the bottom one pushes into the ground and arches it, it fits in easy.
      Big thanks for having a watch pal. Ant 👍

       @Ant Survive The Night OK, honest review! Knots used to secure guy lines utterly hopeless, but not an insurmountable problem. No particular issue getting the pole in either end. Compact, but cosy and I'd say good enough for a winter tent as I feel snow would be kept at bay sufficiently well. Biggest goof on my part was opening the inner fly and the outer fly without knocking off standing dew from the front/top rain flap/cover, resulting in an instant and significant rainfall into the vestibule area and on everything within, a learning point for me. Can't really comment on condensation as it was one of those dewey, foggy nights (and mornings) where anything and everything gets wet, one way or another. Manshead End summit, 417 meters, clear at first, then low clouds, fog and heavy dew from 7pm onwards till morning, ~6C overnight. Light southerly 5-8 mph.

    How do you think this compares with the RAKOON 2? I bought that tent for space, but it is 2.8kg my long term go to modified Lanshan 2 is 1.3kg and lots of space, held 50mph winds in Norway and 60 mph gusts in Wales, and Banshee is 2.5kg, that is a good tent but i prefer more space in the winter, I am unsure if the RAKOON 2 is a 4 season but I would like to think so as it has a lot of space to move about in the dark long winter nights, I like this Bobcat budget tent review, but fear I will be claustrophobic in it in the long dark wet months, is it a must have? because it is storm proof for £60 or is it very warm compared to the Rakoon 2 I am torn between spending £60 quid for a tiny tent that I would only use for stealth camping in the summer or windy conditions, or buying a 4 season inner for my new 3 season Lanshan 2 that I will buy in September!

      Hi Ian, I really couldn’t comment on the Rakoon 2 as I haven’t tested it out but I know I’d be very happy to take the Bob out throughout the winter months and have done last winter. It held up like a champ and I think the videos show that. As for the room, I have major back issues and need to be able to sit and lie in different positions and the Bob give me those options. The versatile zipper allows for space to sit and cook in relative space that I don’t feel uncomfortable in.
      I hope that helps matey.

    What's the best camping mat to use in this sized tent?

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  Рік тому

      Hi mate, I’m 5ft 9 and use regular sleeping mats. As this tent is quite small I wouldn’t go any bigger. Now, there was a comment from someone who said the tents come in different sizes. I can not prove this as I haven’t seen any of the other bobcats in Go Outdoors state that so I would 100% say go regular pal. Hope that helps, Ant.

      Morning mate, I would say you would struggle if I'm honest. There as been a comment on one of my Bobcat videos saying that they come in different sizes if you look on the label but I've haven't seen that but I might have missed it.

      @@AntSurviveTheNight I currently use the phoxx 2 v2 and find that room ok but looking for a budget 4 season ? Is there any you recommend (suitable for 6.1) . I’ve looked online for the bobcat and they only seem to be in 1 size

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  11 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I thought as much. I haven't seen that the Bobcat comes in different size either, I was very sceptical.
      You could look at the OEX Jackal 3, that's not a true 4 season tent but from what I have seen of it, I'm sure it comes close. It's got a lot of grit that tent. If you scroll through my back catalogue you'll find a few videos featuring it. I can't fully comment on it as I'm not the owner and haven't managed to get hold of one and take it to breaking point but from what I've seen it's good!

      I bought one last week, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I know some people have experienced some issues with the pole not fitting well and modifying it by cutting a bit off the end. Mine was slightly tight, but I've not personally had this problem. The back wall of the inner can sag slightly, but I've seen some really simple mods using adhesive velcro strips on the inner and flysheet to keep it taut and lifted, which seemed really helpful.

      @@zephyrical cheers mate, I've seen that some have a drama with the poles, not tried mine yet as been raining, good idea with sticking velcro on the inner an outter, might try and get a toggle stitched in it. Thanks again

      Morning Watty, brilliant mate, I'm sure you will enjoy it when you get out in it. For me there was nothing I found bad enough to mention in the video. I'm not sponsored by OEX so it was a fair review. I would say if your tall (I'm 5.9) you would find it a bit tight but I know people who enjoy the Vango Banshee and are 6 foot plus and don't have any complaints.
      I've not looked in to any mods if I'm honest mate. I would be more than happy to use this tent, in the hills or mountains in winter and certainly will be showing that in the coming videos. Enjoy mate and thanks for watching

      Some great tips there K mate, thank you for helping out with Watty's questions. Yeah I found the pole tight but nothing I struggled with. I was expecting it as I knew Leon's Jackal 3 as the same issue. I didnt have a issue with ut sagging at the back, i guy my shelters out very tight but i know that other people tend to keep theirs slack so its easier to open the doors and such.
      Thanks pal and hope you enjoy the Bobcat when you get out in it.
