Just going to point out that, among the 7 Demon Lords, Duriel has a bit of a 'Dark Knight' vibe to him.
He uses several Paladin abilities like Smite and Charge as melee attacks, and uses the Holy Freeze offensive aura to deal cold and slow periodically and on each attack. In addition, he also has the Amazon's 'Jab' attack to deliver a barrage of blows (each with added cold dmg).
His body shape is also consistent for it, as he is effectively a maggot-centaur with lances for arms.
I would love to see him given a build that better reflects his position as the Lord of Pain though. Give him a vampiric healing when he deals melee damage, reflecting his sadistic nature and how inflicting pain is his lifes calling. Let him deal more damage the more damage he has taken, since the pain the player inflicts on him is adding to his domain of influence. Stuff like that.

You know you can heal your merc by droppin a potion on his top left portrait or simply ctrl clic it in your stash if i remember correctly

It’s not cheating. It’s designed that way in the original game before the expansion pack as well as Diablo 1. It is a feature and an option because God delivers us from evil if we give Him offerings. Thereby, using the Old Testament of the turquoise Good Book, we may portal away such as in Genesis 28: 11-17 (NLT)

Diablo 2 did boss fights incredibly well, really had that big fight feel and the real threat of dying
When you're a sorceress, go inside and get 2hko despite you having all rare gear and your vitality at 35....He then proceeds to take all of your gear after your death.
Then every time you go back in, he ohko's you and you have no opportunity to retaliate.... Oh and If you actually exit the game, all your gear is gone permanently. But you still can't retaliate. Which means you have no choice but to give up and make a new character
Beat him today on my second try, gods it was tough. First time getting this far in D2. Haha the funny thing is I reached Torment on Diablo 4 no problem. Diablo 2 normal is more difficult than than D4 tiers 3-4

@@sergeant1446 before you go in, pop 2-3 thawing potions, also 2-3 for your merc. Instantly drop a town portal when you enter, drop some quick hits or spells on Duriel while your merc tanks damage. Once the merc dies jump into the portal. Refill health and mana potions in town, resurrect your merc. Head back into portal after taking more thawing potions, do damage while merc tanks. Rinse and repeat. Be careful because Duriel can freeze and one shot you if your build isn’t tanky. My build was nova sorc so this fight was very hard and time consuming for me, being that my build speed clears mobs but lacks single target damage.
@@sergeant1446 I actually ended up beating the game a week or so after my original comment. It’s very tough even on normal but 100% worth it. Duriel is the hardest boss in the game due to his freeze stuns and the tiny space of his chamber. You can do it my friend, I know it’s rage inducing but you will really feel a sense of accomplishment when you beat him.

People crying about how simple D4 bosses are but this was considered the peak of the franchise? Ridiculous.
The boss mechanics were simple. Old game by today so it's nothing weird. D2 stands out as one of the best when it comes to level design, skill trees, atmosphere, sound design/music and narrative. After playing D4, I say it's a good game but it doesnt come close to the pure epicness of D2. D4 has way too many npcs running around the campaign and constantly talking is the one thing I dislike the most. It ruins the atmosphere a lot and whenever the ally npcs left me in D4 it was like a different game (and Im enjoying it much more now after completing the story). Also D4 is way too big and open imo even though it's just a preference thing. D2 was more focused on dungeons to explore as opposed to just follow the quest marker. The portal spam in D2 is BS though, and the potion system is pretty wonky. I also love that there are more mechanics, and the dash, in D4, but D2 is supreme when it comes to immersion and story
dont compare a game from 2000 and one from 2023, players now are 10x better on average than before + we have way better setups, wifi ... its nothing comparable, duriel WAS hard back then, now ofc he looks easy

To be fair, as far as design goes Duriel was a low point. Tiny room, big heavy hitter whose only mechanic was "wack". The other bosses such as Diablo himself and the other prime evil's were better but Diablo 2 was focused 90% on handling large amounts of enemies rather then singular bosses though there were some standout bosses.
THAT BEING SAID, despite Duriel not being the best boss mechanically wise, he's still considered a highlight because of how he takes the player utterly off-guard and created memories of "looking for bhaal?", similar to the butcher and "fresh meat!".

Diablo II actually have challenge, and you need to use your brain for it. Unlike, in most today's game (except for the few) can be done with eyes closed.
