Wow, it seems like a lot of effort to strip paint off an old piece of furniture just to end up with another painted piece. I don’t quite understand the appeal. However, I appreciate the valuable tips on using a heat gun for paint removal. Have a great day! Cheers!
Santa is bringing me a heat gun this year. So glad to have found this helpful video. I like it better now with less bling. Rub n Buff has a black metallic wax that is cool on black.
😍 very nice! I like the gold but silver would have looked good too. I was recommending that sander with the foam pad for detail just the other day, based on your videos, it really does seem good for keeping the finer details that are easily obliterated by other sanders 👍🙌
good to see you Back..dresser came out gorgeous..the handles are Absolutely beautiful in gold ...I think how you did the bottom scroll detail in gold on last finish it was Just Too much gold and details ..now the detail on bottom is black and subtle which actually brings the handles to pop and be the focal stunner ...love love the black and gold handles. .happy belated turkey day to you and your family ❤
Awesome another shabby video! Welcome back. I haven't tried stripping paint with a heat gun yet, looks like I need to give it a go! The black looks great and should sell quick! Nice work
Excellent video, i have refinished many pieces , however with this method. Thank you so much , i am learning so much watching this video. You are very good at explaining the process. Wonderful.⭐️⭐️❤️
Ever try putting a splash of paint in your top coat to prevent the whitening. Looks great. When i use silver on black, it never sells. Gold is a good choice. Brass would look good too..
Semi-gloss seems like a bold choice of finish! Are glossy finishes back in style? I kinda secretly hope so! Beautiful work!! It was very satisfying watching the paint pull off. Kinda makes me think about how we are living in a plastic bubble of paint in our homes! Yikes!
I think just removing all of the gold wax detail made it a lot better. The before made me feel like it was a piece from Beauty and the Beast. The black is nice improvement and classic. But even the blue may have looked better without all of the gold accents.
So I wanted to take a minute and make a quick comment Dixie Bells gold wax is actually an oil based product so you have to apply it on top of any poly you put on the piece. If you drop the poly on top because it’s water based it’s going to destroy that wax eventually.
I like the new color better. I actually liked the cloudy color when you put the final top coat on too. If you have a simple dresser you should try to make color it with a cloudy design and see how it looks. I don’t know how you would achieve that look but I would be interested in learning if you can figure it out. ❤😊
Just found you, so I subscribed. Nice re do. The new color is a great choice. I watch tons of furniture videos but have never seen that sprayer. Please explain. 😂
Welcome to my channel. Check out some of my other videos. The Graco Magnum X5 is my go to sprayer and I use it in a lot of videos. Its a bit overpowered for most people into furniture but I used to do a ton of projects so it worked for me.
Painting wood only spoils the piece. You had a very good chance to apply stain and color the grain to make it stand out. The work is well done but definitely not my idea of any furniture fancier than a tool chest or stool.
As a general rule, I'm not a big fan of painted furniture, although (like this one) some are quite lovely painted. Was the wood underneath just not very nice to begin with?
While i understand personal choices, painting a solid wood piece of furniture always puts my teeth on edge. If it had to be a black finish, perhaps a gloss black Japaned finish might have been a better choice. The gunmetal is grey more than black and an incongrous colour. Painting is such a permanent finish - getting ALL the paint out of the grain is nigh on impossible.
One question, though I do not dislike the final result, and do appreciate your hard work and expertise...WHY paint the piece at all?...there are so many great finishes which enhance the woodgrain...unless, of course, that the timber used in this instance is bog-standard...that would justify the paintjob...dgp

It turned out beautifully! Black and gold is timeless; will never go out of style.
Turned out gorgeous! Looks so much better in black and the gold hardware makes it pop! Beautiful job!
That is such a gorgeous piece. Would look pretty as an entertainment center
I just have to say, I really appreciate your honesty and approach. Way to be awesome
I like the gold hardware with black. It’s gorgeous!
Gold is beautiful with the gun metal black. Great job!
Gorgeous piece. Glad to see you back. Wish we could see your beautiful smile.
The gold hardware is perfect
I’m so happy you did black and coated in semi-gloss. Turned out very stunning as less is more….not so much gold. Greetings from 🇨🇦.
Looks beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing. Well done -- as always.

Love it now. Gutsy to turn around and redo. Windering how silver hardware would look and yet if you like that gold..... Go for it. Thank you.
I love the black with gold!
Loved the heat gun method. Better than a messy stripper.
I really liked the first dresser, especially with the gold trim and handles, but I also like the black dresser with the gold handles 😊. Great job 👏
*Welcome Back* ...
Thanks!
Wow - so helpful to watch you go through all the different techniques. Really helpful. And...you made it quite beautiful too! Well, well done!
That is really pretty!!! Silver would look nice too!!
Absolutely beautiful!

Glad your back! It does look amazing in black. You always do professional work, couldn't believe the peeling on Dixie bell. Opened my eyes!
I remember that dresser! I think it looks so good now! I love the gold hardware!

Glad you’re back; I was only wondering where you were today.
It looks great! I really like the gold handles! 👍👍
Thank you! I always love your videos. Nice to see a fresh one.

You’re right about the gunmetal black. I really liked the blue but….
It’s lovely. Good job sir.

Beautiful 😊🌸
Looks great with the new color. I always enjoy your videos!
Beautiful, my favorite!
Beautiful!
Thank you!

Lovely piece. Your paint job looks awesome. I wonder if the silver or bushed nickel would complement the gunmetal gray more. Hope it sells fast
It looks beautiful!❤

I think silver would look nice however; it’s a beautiful piece.♥️

Yay! heat gun
I love the new color, but I would prefer a silver or brushed nickel hardware. A more modern design. Great job though!
Olá! Que bom que vc voltou!😊❤

It's might work if some white paint was added to the poly. Might be interesting to try sometime
Beautiful, your gut is right silver is better

Great video. Would this work on removing finish and stain?
That must have been latex paint you initially painted the dresser with…?
Painting wood only spoils the piece. You had a very good chance to apply stain and color the grain to make it stand out. The work is well done but definitely not my idea of any furniture fancier than a tool chest or stool.
You're welcome to have your own opinion. Thanks for watching!

Silver better but the look is great as is.

La belleza de la madera oculta bajo una capa azul, ahora nuevamente oculta bajo una capa negra . Lamentable para mi gusto.
