I remember seeing one of these at a gamestop, and i saw the little lights at the bottom and knew it wasnt retail. I wish i had the money when it was there

Imagine if someone hardmodded their Vitakit to have a rudimentary battery, using a powerbank connected to the Vita. But that's next level impossible i suppose.

We know how a HDMI output work, it's standardized... But the motherboard of the Devkit is completely different from a retail PS Vita, so it is very unlikely that we would see a HDMI mod for a retail Vita...
UPDATE: i got my hands on a vita phat and and it turns out the accessory port is basically a dummy. If you want output, use the udcd_uvc plugin for HENkaku
How much RAM does this DEV unit have compared to a stock Vita? Would have loved to see a picture of the motherboard. I'm curious is we could do a RAM upgrade on the stock Vita.
a year late and even IF you managed to solder bigger RAM chips onto the mobo(which is possible in theory) and IF they would be "recognized"(which isnt possible) the System woudl still not acces or use anymore Memory then was available by stock.. because the System allocates Ram and its coded to allocated exactly as much RAM as it Should have..
Leaving out the hdmi might have also been from the pspgo poor sales, But if you do get a vita. Get the phat as the screen and build quality is better and very recently you can now downgrade firmware making hencore or Henkaku (what I use) CFW allot more available rather than trying to find one on older firmwares. Pkjb is a god send for some of those super pricy JRPGs. I already own the ntsc-j versions for collection reasons don't @ me

Only one way round but fits both the phat has is super annoying and brake allllll the time. But the phat are better screen and build quility. But I use my slim more. Purly cus it's easier to charge and drop in a pocket

You know what, I actually did manage to buy a dev kit off of some guy in a PlayStation vita Facebook group. I paid him $200 for it. Unfortunately, I have not been able to figure out how in the world could turn it on. So I did hear you say in the video that I must have the power connector in the USB cable in at the same time. However, I still can’t quite get it to turn on. I guess maybe I’m doing something wrong? Do I have to have the software installed on my computer in order to get it going??

its pathetic that it has hdmi, even usb mini which i like, and retail does not. Yep, unfortunately like the newer PS4 and XBone dev kits, they need to be activated to work. So unfortunately that unit is crippled and will not give full use of the system. SDK 2.6? I do believe SDK 3.6 is out there as well.

Just got an original Vita last month and I love it. Completed and really dug Resogun, Super Stardust Delta, Touch my Katamari and Killzone Mercenary. Been playing a lot of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and have Child of Light and Gravity Rush to play next. If you have PS Plus a lot of your monthly free games may be cross buy so free games right away.
I used to believe one of these dev kits could hold a lot for the hacking community but after seeing how basic it is the community has already done more for retail vitas then this thing can do
I have 56 games so I could probably recommend a few if you ever get the vita, just avoid gamestop when buying. Also if you get custom firmware on the system, there is a game slot that you can use for storage as well through a micro usb, the memory card on a vita is so expensive, like $90 for the 64 gb, or $54 for a 32 gb.
@lRaziel1 The UA-cam app was taken out the PS Store since 2015 if I recall...and it also stopped working for everybody who still had the program installed. You basically _have_ to watch youtube in the browser program.

But anyway would be great to be able to dump that vitas firmware for preservation and also maybe for debugging/scene development. idk about you but this for me seems super interesting
You can install the Testkit FW on retail but not the devkit, it's basically the same but the Devkit one got support for a few things more... I think we already have dumps of all Devkit/Testkit FWs (They were leaked from the Sony servers i believe). If not, this could be interesting...

The dev unit has double of the stock vita RAM.
The regular charger port DOES work on a devkit. If you look at the manual, it says to plug the Vita into the wall along with the DC in.
The Vita is truly underrated. The homebrew community has done so much for these systems, I am constantly playing with the fat and slim.
If want vita keep eyes at pawnshop find all time $60 to $100

You don't need any exploit. The signing key is public any you can sign a activation for yourself.
