If that’s only the second eurythmics song you’ve heard then you ain’t heard nothing yet. Would I lie to you is fantastic. They were my fave band in the eighties.
This group (duo) had some of the most amazing and memorable songs of the 80s: Sweet Dreams (of course), Here Comes The Rain Again, Would I Lie To You?, Missionary Man, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves, Thorn In My Side,There Must Be An Angel, among others..... and of course Annie went on to 2 incredibly successful solo albums not long after the duo split up. I hear/see the title and the music starts playing in my brain, which automatically fires up the memories of their incredible videos.
One of my all time favorites from this band! Kind of a “non-hit” for these kids, did well in the UK, just not here in the states… But, man, I love this song… thanks! Would love to see your reaction to I Love to Listen to (Beethoven)
Negative! It may have hit number 23 on the American charts but it end up selling over 500,000 copies more than any other country in the world including England. Don't forget America is a huge country and its hard to hit the top 10 unless its freaking boring
Walking On Broken Glass is for me perhaps her most memorable solo song, with an insanely brilliant music video... starring no less than John Malkovich and Hugh Laurie, still early in their careers. Note that she is VERY CLEARLY dressed as "the Scarlet Woman" 😁 Gotta love that "Dangerous Liaisons" setting 🥰 ua-cam.com/video/y25stK5ymlA/v-deo.html My favorite "ballad" type solo of hers is "No More I Love Yous".
This song tends to focus on the fine line between love and obsession. It's one of my favorite Eurythmics songs. Lyrically, it's a darker version of the song "Obsession" by Animotion. It'd be interesting for you to compare and contract the lyrics of both songs online.
gotta admit though... that group was being IN YOUR FACE blunt with their lyrics long before rappers were: "Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me?" Isn't that like the oldest question in all of human sexual history?
If someone asks you to describe (relationship) love: This song describes it perfectly. This is the mixed feelings and excitement in the beginning. How it can mess you up and make you feel good at the same time. This song is the definition of LOVE
This was never my favourite untill about 2010... It grows until you think it's one of their best. Mind you, there's plenty more if needs be. Enjoy your journey.
Sex and lust can become so much the "dangerous drug" that love really disappears altogether; they become desperate grabs for pleasure, or even just a cold business transaction.
This was early Eurythmics, off their second but breakthrough album, Sweet Dreams (are made of this), which was very synth driven. But you will be impressed by their evolution across their albums. As much as I want you to react to “Would I lie to you?” I hope you’ll follow that evolution and listen to “Here comes the rain again” next.
I'm very interested in your idea of love meaning 'unconditional acceptance' and how this music has evoked those thoughts. Really fascinatinating. Been ruminating on that one, on & off for years. Very eloquently put. Thank you. 🙂💕
Man. Where did you come from? Refreshing to hear your philosophical takes on the lyrics and love. The word ‘agape’ came to mind when you were trying to describe higher, selfless love. I do love this song. What didn’t you like about it, musically? Aside from her amazing writing and singing talents, Annie Lennox is mesmerizing when she performs. Those smoldering eyes and expressions. Wow. Thanks for covering this song.
Agape' (note the accent for emphasis) is a concept 80% or higher of current 'MURICANS could never hope to grasp. That same 80s decade, following along with Reagan letting the religious nutjobs in the door of power and influence, is where the massive decline began. It became nearly 100% a case of "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME -screw everyone else!"
You should definitely do a new video reaction of Don’t ask me why. You see how she changed her fashion style and her softness in music from the masculin Annie in 1982 to a real diva in the Don’t ask me why video in 1989
Musically, this one shocked my for decades. Lyrically (Yeah, since the fiist time, May 1983) - Excellent Lyrics, I didn;t Connect. I think it ain't a love song song. This song starts OK, and Slips behind you and at some point - kicks you pretty hard, perhaps at verse 4 . Together with Sweet Dreams, this city never sleeps, Jennifer, The walk - GRADE A++
Do a video reaction of Don’t ask me why. Beautiful song with a beautiful lady in 1989. A complete difference between her androgynous period in 1982 and 1989. She is like a cameleon over the years
IMPORTANT POINT OF CLARIFICATION: Group's name is "Eurythmics" (**not** "THE eurythmics")- an actual musical term, etymologically using same concept as Mathematics or Genetics. It isn't an adjective turned into a noun masquerading a a musical group name
Whos That Girl was the 2nd single i bought. Have you heard the one hit wonder by The Passions , Im in Love with a German Film.Star....unbelievable cool mood
Interesting lyrics of this one, but musically not my thing. Nice visuals in the music video. Annie always had this kind of androgynous visual in their Eurythmics times and even later... now about the meaning of "love" there are other songs that could capture and describe better the sense of that feeling, at least for me, but the problem within the meaning of the word and its representation can be the same with many other words, not only "love" and sometimes they can mean anything... but try to find what it is, can be the best part of it...
I can’t pick only three to be on top for my favorite Annie Lennox songs. Here are the first three that come to mind: -I Put a Spell on You -Little Bird -Cold (although I know that by now you’ve already done this one)
You are totally deaf to the music. The arrangement of synths, and how its manipulalted to give it that unique sound and beat and the grunting is brilliant and the keyboard arrangements are incredible.
I think you may have missed the point of this song at least in my opinion. Since Love is actually a chemical reaction in the human brain as well as at least many mammals and probably many other creatures of our planet. This song is the literal analogy of the ups and downs that one field when in love and also when love is waning. As far as having a divine purpose coming into life, that is not scientifically logical. Nevertheless I enjoyed your video.
@@antonreacts love can certainly cause someone to question their own logic… That is really all I know. As for the song itself I believe it succinctly describes one's mental state when in love at different stages.
@@redjupiter2 Gotcha. Regarding my question, I meant it as a response to: "As far as having a divine purpose coming into life, that is not scientifically logical." From your perspective is it not logical, or not verifiable?
This was too ahead than 50 Shades of Grey. They love each other but as Christian said, it's a lifestyle. Just like Annie cross dressing here. A woman who prefers this kind of play, BDSM has ta masculine persona within her. I love the song but I am an all out woman and wouldn't want to be hurt just to be taken far away😂
One of my favourite Eurythmics songs.
If that’s only the second eurythmics song you’ve heard then you ain’t heard nothing yet. Would I lie to you is fantastic. They were my fave band in the eighties.
My favourite Eurythmics song
Another on for you of her's " Who's that girl"? You won't be disappointed.
My favorite Eurythmics video
Annie is fabulous, she is in her 60’s still looks wonderful. Enjoy the ride!
She is in her 70s now and still wonderful. I liked her in 1982 and still do now.

Constantly ahead of their time

‘Cold’ from Annie’s Diva album is one of the best.

Love this song
Loved your insight. I grew up with this song since it came out, and never thought about the lyrics so much.
Guy with the Beard = Dave Stewart

You need to listen to There Must Be An Angel. Their only number 1 here in the U.K surprisingly enough.
Sex and lust can become so much the "dangerous drug" that love really disappears altogether; they become desperate grabs for pleasure, or even just a cold business transaction.
You should review Miracle Of Love by The Eurythmics. Mind-blowing!
-Chris.

my FAVORITE Eurythmics song next to TAke me to your heart

Annie is a talented performance artist who just happens to be a h*** of a songstress.... !
Aw dude. Yeah. It is a favorite of mine
C'mon man this is such a brilliant song, I don't think it gets enough recognition because it was so early.
Annie Lennox is from Scotland.
Dave Stewart is from north east England.
You should definitely do a new video reaction of Don’t ask me why. You see how she changed her fashion style and her softness in music from the masculin Annie in 1982 to a real diva in the Don’t ask me why video in 1989
Missionary Man and It’s Alright are my top Eurythmics songs.
My fave from them! 🎧 💓 🎶
Cant have too much synth.. Here comes the rain again is another great track
and a truly haunting music video.. hit me right in the feels as a 21 year old queer kid coming to grips with being attracted to both sexes.
Please react to my favourite Eurythmics song, Thorn in My Side.
You should watch her live with piano think song is why 😊

Top 3 Eurythmics songs:
1. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
2. There Must be an Angel (Playing with my Heart)
3. Would I Lie to You
🙏🏻thx🥰🥰🥰🥰🥳🥳🥳
Love Annie ❤️😍
true love is sacrifice
The guy with the beard writers the music

Was interesting. And that's all I'll say.
How ladylike and how nutty! I love her.
You Need to listen to :Annie lennox
A WHITER SHADE OF PALE

Little Bird.. another absolute masterpiece.

Love, but more specifically, physical gratification, is a great distraction from higher self, and higher states of being.
animal nature versus spiritual nature... the greatest existential crisis of humanity
Sexcrime! Great dance track.
"DudeBro Drinks Water, Tries and Fails to Understand Electropop."
So do we like Annie best as a blonde, a brunette, or a redhead?
or that buzzcut carrot-top in Sweet Dreams video? LOL
👍😎

React some Mariah Carey videos please❤️

I seem to remember it caused controversy in america because of her androgyny/cross dressing in this video
Never heard this one and it’s not one of my favorites, I really like Annie’s solo songs
i'm not watching cuz he's cute
