The studio showed their hand when they forced a Spider-Man connection only to then back out and not have a Peter Parker cameo once they realized how bad it was
I watched it without seeing previews or reading about it beforehand. It was all the bad. Poor dialogue, wooden acting, predictable plot, tropes instead of a plot. By all means, watch it if you haven't - it makes a great drinking game.
Here's how I look at it. Madame Web is not a good film. Interesting ideas but poor execution. But she does have a point in terms of people making fun of it. In this day and age it's always funny to make fun of something before it hits the screen just because people either want it to fail or they're trying to have harmless fun. And I am in no way shape or form defending the bad writing or bad editing of Madame Web I think it's a terrible movie but in this day and age where internet culture is used to make fun of something before it hits the screen it's getting extremely annoying and fatiguing for me to listen to it. If anyone says "then just turn it off and not listen to it" it's not that simple anymore because it's just on the internet it's everywhere like Sydney Sweeney trash talked Madame Web when she hosted SNL, whenever I'm scrolling through UA-cam just to watch an unrelated video it'll pop up and ask if I'm interested in watching it, or if I'm scrolling through Google Chrome to look to see what kind of news has been going on it's there. So unfortunately it's not that simple. But back to the topic at hand: This is the same stuff I see with The Acolyte, Rings of Power, She Hulk, Batwoman, Prey, Ghostbusters (2016) Morbius and so much more. Now every one of those projects has different quality in their own way but it doesn't change the fact that they were all mocked before release. If you didn't like the cast announcement or when the first trailer popped up and made you didn't want to see it I totally get that cause it's happen to me a few times, if you wanted to make memes about and poke fun at it all the time that's okay to I'm guilty of it as well. But that's also why I'm trying my to follow a new code and wise UA-camr once said: "To remember that too much hate towards something, can become just as annoying and intolerable as the thing it's making fun of" Don't get me wrong whenever there's something I don't like or I think is bad I will still criticize it but I'm not gonna take that to bed with me and be like "I hate this so much! I hate this so much! I hate this so much!" Like if left unchecked criticism through memes can get both annoying and even toxic to some degree like seriously go out and touch some grass. Also you still disagree with Emma Roberts perspective on Madame Web's quality while trying to understand her side when it comes to internet culture. I think that's an important thing to consider. Because in my perspective this kind of dismissiveness not being able to have nuance conversation just because someone said something that seems extremely nuance yet people interpret one way whether it had a click bait article or they just don't want to have nuance conversation is something to consider. I don't know maybe that's just me getting tired of people using internet culture to constantly make fun things that while they're bad (like I mentioned several times) can get annoying and toxic if left unchecked or worse people prioritize that over actual injustices around the world that need to be fixed, resolved and not try to shield them away from our day to day life just because we don't to get involved with what goes on in the real world because we don't it'll affect us when it could
I didn't love it, but I felt it was okay. It wasn't really good, but it was okay, just okay to see once maybe at home. But like you said truly bad buzz for it lead to it doing poorly, plus it really wasn't a very good film.
I'm really sorry, it was a bad movie. I dont believe the director producers and actors set out to make a bad film but the "bring the superhero genre into the current gen z style" trope is just bad unless it's a parody film. It's the same reason the new Superman film is going to fail. Trying to shoehorn these vastly different characteristics into established mythos that is so successful already is just not what we need. If we wanted this Madam Web then we would stop reading comic books since in one way or another everything has been done before. Just write compelling characters that struggle and preserve (see Jessica Jones Netflix) and people will watch.
It's like kids' toys, boys toys are always seen as Unisex, but girls' toys are only allowed to be played with by girls. Same with this movie, and men are tired of this agenda. Not a problem with females being heroes. But why exclude men from the view completely when it's a men's genre. It feels tired. Write better females, and men will admire them, but forcing it down onto them ,not a good move😅
It was a bad movie. I went into it with an open mind and it was very disappointing. Direction was terrible and the story took a too long to establish the characters and their superhero personnas.

I don’t think it was as bad as people made it out to be I thought it was going to be the worst thing I ever watched
Nah the film had no direction and no care for the story
It was unintentionally hilarious in many places. That's the sign of an atrocious movie.

I’m looking forward to the end of the superhero movie trend.
