  • A great half day trip outside of Bangkok is the Maeklong Railway Market, also know as Rom Hup Market. Let's take a trip together to Maeklong Railway Market (Rom Hup Market ).
    It's an amazing place and is very famous for the unusual sight of the market built on the tracks. Tourists come from all around the world to see this unusual market.
    You can get there many different ways but the cheapest and most authentic way is by taking the train. So I will show you how to get there by yourself from Bangkok. It leaves from Wongwian Yai Station and involves a ferry and switching trains.
    Just outside of Bangkok Thailand is one of the world's most unique markets, the Maeklong Railway Market. (Rom Hup Market) its one of the largest produce and seafood markets in Thailand. But beyond the selection of fresh fruit and fish, the market has become infamous for one thing-the train that runs directly through it.
    In 1905, the Maeklong Railway built a commuter train line through the center of the popular market. But rather than move, the vendors adapted to the new conditions, working around the train that passes through eight times a day, seven days a week.
    Getting there is easy and fun. I show the whole trip and how to navigate it without having to do a tour.
    Enjoy the video!

    This is one of the most popular sights for tourists and locals to see. I’ve made a video of the train passing through as well as the Mahachai Market that is half way. Here is a link to both if you want to see them.

      You will have a good time. Go early so you can see the second train of the day come through the market. You can spend some time walking around the area and seeing all of the market. There is also a nice temple about 500 meters from the train station.
      Glad my video was helpful to you. Message me after you go and let me know what you thought of the trip please, I would like to know.

    Good video buddy, so the train goes to the market which is the end of the line. The train stops at the market and goes back to where it started, is the correct?

    • @endlessjourneytravels
      @endlessjourneytravels  5 місяців тому

      Yes that is correct. The only problem you might have is when you switch trains and catch the short ferry in the middle. Just follow the crowd and you will be fine. It’s pretty easy.

      @@endlessjourneytravels What I heard about tourist attractions in Nakhon Phanom but I never been there😏 ;
      1. Wat Phra That Phanom: This is the most famous and revered Buddhist temple in the region. It houses a sacred relic that attracts pilgrims from all over the country. The temple's impressive architecture and tranquil surroundings make it a must-visit destination.
      2. Indochina Market: Located near the Mekong River, this bustling market is known for its vibrant atmosphere and a wide array of local products. You can find traditional clothing, handicrafts, local delicacies, and more. It's a great place to explore and experience the local culture.
      3. Tha Uthen Waterfront: This scenic riverside promenade offers stunning views of the Mekong River. You can take a leisurely stroll, enjoy the fresh air, and appreciate the beautiful sunsets. There are also riverside restaurants and cafes where you can relax and indulge in local cuisine.
      4. Ho Chi Minh Memorial: Located on the banks of the Mekong River, this memorial commemorates the late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh. It offers a glimpse into the history and shared heritage between Vietnam and Thailand.
      5. Nakhon Phanom Walking Street: Every Saturday, the main street of Nakhon Phanom transforms into a lively night market. You can find a variety of street food, local products, live performances, and cultural displays. It's a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the local nightlife.
      6. Phra That Renu Nakhon: Situated in Renu Nakhon district, this ancient temple is known for its unique architecture blending Thai and Lao styles. Visitors can explore the temple grounds, marvel at the intricate details, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

    Hi if this still possible to do in 2024? what time you start this trip? or any another option. after visit maeklong, how to get to the floating market?

    • @endlessjourneytravels
      @endlessjourneytravels  3 місяці тому

      Yes you can still do this. The train runs 4 times a day. I would recommend doing one of the first trips of the day. You can walk around the market and watch it come through the next time it goes. You can then catch the train back to Bangkok or you can catch a Songtaow to Damnoen Saduak Floating market. I’ve never done it that way since I usually ride my motorcycle there but it’s not too difficult to do. I don’t know the cost of doing that but it’s not too expensive. You can check with a quick search of getting from the train station to the floating market. You could also hire out a taxi or van but that would be a lot more expensive. Sorry I don’t know all of the information but I can answer that the train is still running everyday. I out the schedule in the video so easy to see the times.

      Just do the same trip in reverse. I can’t remember the times exactly but I showed the sign at the Maha Chai station (the second train after the ferry ride). A good idea is to catch the first train of the day, get to the market early, do some shopping and eating, then watch the next train come through the market. You can then jump on it on the way back to Bangkok. It sits at the station for about 20-30 minutes so you don’t need to rush.
      I hope that helps. Glad you found the video and thanks for watching.

    Hi please how can i go from maeklong railway to damnuan saduak floating market ?

    • @endlessjourneytravels
      @endlessjourneytravels  10 місяців тому

      I’ve always just ride my motorcycle but most people take either a day tour that has a van that takes you to the market. The easiest option is to catch a taxi. It’s not far so should only cost a few hundred baht. I’m not aware of a bus that goes between the 2 markets so I can’t help you there. Sorry I can’t help more than that.

    what is the better time to go in maeklong railway? or what time did you arrived in wongwian yai station?

    • @endlessjourneytravels
      @endlessjourneytravels  Місяць тому

      A good idea is to take the first train there. You get to go on the train through the market. After you get there you have time to explore and shop and can see the second train come through. If you don’t want to go to the floating market and just want to come back to Bangkok jump on that train and go back to Wongwian Yai. I can’t remember the exact times but I put the time table in the video. Some people prefer to go a bit later in the day and catch a van back to Bangkok. I would do the early morning way. I hope this helps.

    Horrible trip in 2024. This once a "hardcore railway lovers only journey" was spoiled by the influencer instagrammer youtuber plague these days.
    In 2002 I was the only tourists on this line, and I even was told by a Thai couple in Baan Laem how adventorous I am. In February 2024 I went again.... and it was horrible. The train became so crowded a couple of stops before Maekhlong that I thought I was on MRT or BTS during Rush hour.
    Please... there should be a world wide upload tax for videos on social media when they are about travelling.

    • @endlessjourneytravels
      @endlessjourneytravels  24 дні тому +1

      Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. So I should be taxed to upload a video that people want to watch? Interesting concept.

    • @hassanalihusseini1717
      @hassanalihusseini1717 23 дні тому

      @@endlessjourneytravels This would be the most radical solution for the overtourism problem. I call myself an "Outfluencer", and I am afraid that nowadays a lot of problems caused by overtourism is due to advertising on (un)social media.
      Yes, uploadtax is more a provocative proposal from my side then a real wish, but it is difficult to count on people's reason not to do things.
      Think about places like Venice, Barcelona, Mallorca in Europe, where people started hating tourists. I don't want that here in Thailand happening.
      I don't mind x videos about Pattaya, y videos about Khaosan Road or z videos of walks between Nana and Asok. But keep some secrets for yourself. And let the adventourous people discover them by their own.
      By the way 555 If you go to Wutthakat BTS it is much closer to the Mahachai Railway station with same name than Wong Wian Yai.
