Welcome back to my channel with another exciting video. This video concerns the early graphics comparison between two open-world games set in the feudal Japan era i.e. Assassin's Creed Shadows (2024) and Ghost of Tsushima (2020).
This video covers some of the significant aspects of these games like horse riding mechanics, stealth & combat gameplay, etc., and compares these aspects.

• Assassin's Creed Shadows is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, set to release in November 2024. Set in 16th-century Japan towards the end of the Sengoku period, the game will focus on the millennia-old struggle of the Assassin Brotherhood, who fight for peace and liberty, and the Templar Order, who desire peace through control, from the perspective of two protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the historical figure of the same name. The two characters control differently and provide a unique gameplay style, allowing guests to be approached in multiple ways.
• Ghost of Tsushima is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The player controls Jin Sakai, a samurai on a quest to protect Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan.

The only problem I had with GOT was that Jin could not access an underwater breathing straw or use of any kill-finishers 😳

@Gunslinging713 the only ac games that I regret getting were origins and odyssey, which I got on game pass anyway. Every other ac is good. I doubt I’ll regret it, especially after seeing the amazing gameplay they showed.

Yes because GOT is the pinnacle of samurai games for now. Unlike this dumpter fire(Like most Ubi games)

As far as I remember, there is a little-known masterpiece called Tenchu Z. Unfortunately, the software available for playing this game was limited and it was never widely used.

I pause a solid 5 minutes each time to take in Scenery in Ghost of Tsushima.
I loved it.
My issue is with the frame rate of AC. Once they fix that on our powerful machines, there might be a real challenge happening here. Including the fact that Jin cannot use underwater bamboo straws or lacks enemy kill-finishers.😢

From a development standpoint, I never understood why they waste time building a second character! These resources could be used elsewhere, like BUG FIXING OR PROPER FACIAL ANIMATIONS.. just sayin 😅

You can’t set them side by side and use 720p quality Assassins creed and 4K quality GOT. This feels like an unfair comparison.

Well I mean the actual gameplay video quality of AC Shadows was pretty bad.
They likely recorded it when the gameplay footage of Shadows was first released.

Ghosts of Tsushima will be very hard to beat so if Ubisoft come anywhere close it’ll be impressive
From the rate the haters are going, even if Ubisoft is a couple thousand positive reviews away would be impressive
Watching both games side by side they are both good looking games graphically ghost of Tsushima set the bar for how samurai games should look assassins creed shadows seems to followed their steps isn’t necessarily a bad thing for a gamer I can appreciate that they did their homework to make a samurai and shinobi experience for their fanbase haters gonna hate fans will appreciate I’m gonna enjoy getting off work to play this game to play as yasuke and naoe and when ghost of Tsushima 2 comes out we will be here too

Why is there some kind of sickening slowdown for a second in Assassin with every hit/strike/finishing move, some animations are jerky, it’s wildly infuriating. They can't make normal smooth animation? Trash...
@@trilltyy1794 It will be released, but you can see it from the gameplay trailer, I’m writing what I see and it looks like I’m not the only one with this opinion.
It’s mediocre if combat is the only part of a game you care about, but ac shadows clears in every other aspect of gameplay. And ghost had the same slowdown mechanic, when parrying.
AC Shadows aim for realistic-looking and complex environment details, while GoT may look simpler, but it has one of the most beautiful art directions I've ever seen in video games.
As a Japanese, I feel very uncomfortable with the AC scenery!
The design seems to ignore the seasons.
GOT is not a cherry blossom, but a wisteria flower.

@@gilgameshomar The graphics have a higher fidelity in AC shadows, and I honestly like how it looks more, the setting in this time period is better, I also just like this setting of Japan, better than the setting of Tsushima during the mogol invasion.
@@gilgameshomar Different art styles. GoT is artistic getting inspiration from old samurai movies. ACS, like every other AC games, tries to be realistic. "Tries".
Shadows seems like one of those stop-motion movies compared to Ghost. Ubisoft really needs to improve the fluidity of these animations, because that's just embarrassing.
This guy used like 720p 30 fps footage for ac shadows and 4k 60fps for ghost. That’s why it looks like that.
And the game is also still in production, so they still have some time to improve it.
All game showcase have this slow FPS problem when they first unveiled them. Even go to Tsushima had to go through this when they first introduced us a year prior to release.😂

I think stealth & combat gameplay wise Ghost Of Tsushima is better. The Action & Reaction seems more responsive & the weapon variation is better too

@@DarkKnightNinjaVigilante Funny how defensive you get. Played ghost three times and can honestly say once you’re used to the combat and stealth it can get a bit old. So far Ac has two different characters with two different styles with their katana combat alone, not to mention each character’s weapon selection. The stealth seems in depth with features like taking out lights, using the straw to hide underwater, dragging npc’s, and the fact that those factors can change depending on the time and season. The parkour seems to be a direct upgrade from Mirage which already made improvements, which looks like it will be more fleshed out and present than ghost. Get rid of the bias and think up an actual response

Also there is a POSSIBILITY that Yasuke could have a ship and get naval combat added to his play style so don't talk shit as if you know

The combat in ghost is crisp af, no missing frames nothing just smooth as butter. Ac has many missing frames sometimes its looks clunky and not to mention the overlay on enemy npc is just kills the fun for me.
I can say with all honesty both games look fantastic and Jin Sakai The Ghost would make a valuable member of the Shinobi Assassins Brotherhood. The smoothness and fluidity of Jin’s combat and stance switches are still unmatched and Ghost Of Tsushima 2 could learn a lot from Naoe’s stealth tactics. Great video.

GoT is a great game, and i hold high hopes for Shadows; I can only hope Shadows is a precursor for a new Splinter Cell game- i mean, Sam Fisher has been in every game except his own now for 11 years…

Ghost of Tsushima's ambiance and approach is like looking at a painting especially the mountains in the horizon and the combat is more fluid but nothing can beat assassins creed's geographical locations in the ancient worlds when it comes to realism.
Ghost of thusima feels like real Japan setting. Shadows feels like everything is artificial

Well, I feel the opposite. I love Ghost of Tsushima and its artstyle, but sometimes it's so stylized that it feels more like a painting than a real place. And that's not a bad thing. It's one of GoT's strongest qualities.
AC Shadows so far actually looks like a real place where real people lived in. I also quite like it.

When GoT came out people said it felt like a classic AC game with more polish and less bloat that did plenty of things differently to claim it's own identity. Don't try to rewrite history like Ubisoft does just to support a fake narrative.

Thank you for this comparison. I played the early parts of ghost but haven't finished it, but seeing these side by side just shows me how different the games look and that the people saying either copied each other are just being mad for no reason.
They are two completely different takes just have a location in common which is fine. I thought ghost looked beautiful and I think AC shadows looks beautiful!! I can't wait to explore the world of AC shadows :).

Don’t be biased because Shadows is a Ubisoft game. Yes, GoT is amazing, but these games take a different approach to combat and traversal. I think Shadows so far looks better than GoT which isn’t ridiculous because it’s 4 years old at this point.

Shadows only has an edge in stealth gameplay with Naoe. 👍
Yasuke can use more melee weapons than Jin who basically uses the Katana beginning to end. The game also has a posture system similar to souls games.
literally the thing with ghost of Tsushima is the smoothethst gameplayI have ever experienced with the other uniquely done side effects like physics biased blood splatter the COMBAT IS THE ONE AND ONLY THING THAT IS UNMATCHED THE STANCES THE STYLE PARYS EXECUTED BY YOU OR MONGOLS IS BEUTIFUL TO WATCH SOME TIMES I USE THE WRONG STANCE JUST TO SEE ENEMY COUNTER ME … also the special movements like the wind strike and holding the light attack charging heavy pushing , bows , horse manuver , the showdown duels , THE MONGOLS IS THE MOST CREATIVE IDEA OF ENEMY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A SAMURAI GAME WITH THIER MASSIVE MASTIF DOGS AND THIER GOLDEN EAGLES 🦅 WITH THIER SOWRDS AND SPEARS ARMOUR, bowman shouting doooshoo which translate in Mongolian (Get down / doge) ,,, as well as the mongol armour is my favourite OUTFIT IN WHOLE GAME ,,,, the styles while sheathing the blade while looking at the beautiful blood splatter when enemies are all laying dead .. whith it scenery NOTE(GRAPHICS ARE NOT THE RED DEAD OR FORBIDDEN WEST THING)…. 1. Combat not smooth it’s toooo clunky = rise of the ronin
2 graphics doesn’t look t samurai game alike graphics unlike the perfect samurai graphics in games like( ghost of Tsushima and total war three kingdoms)
3 the ENEMY AI design isn’t as good as Tsushima in Tsushima the bow man is unhedged with doshoo mean while enemies give a good pressure and a perfect overall to the ai enemies… BUT in AC shadows as we saw in trailer enemies just stand there and waiting to get violated the parry counter animation looks bad
4 . Naoe’s part is at least is the better part although she moves like the valhalla protagonist same animations but IN THE END OF THE DAY ITS THE NOTORIOUS UBISOFT
GoT has mongol enemies while AC has samurai enemies with different fight tactics. Can't compare them if they don't have similarities.
But can Jin use any other melee weapon? Other than the Katana that wasn't even invented at the time the game is set in.

I don't dislike ghost nor AC franchise. But I think for some player who lays back and enjoying variety npcs activities and interactions, AC wins on that. Whenever I put ghost on to enjoy scenery I feel so lonely...I don't get that with last 3 AC games!🎉🎉🎉

Only thing that is not quite as good as in AC series are the atealth mechanics in GoT.....these are imo better in AC games and for aure will be in AC Shadows

Everyone is comparing it to Ghost of Tsushima but nobody bats about where GoT's gameplay based on. Clearing enemy stronghold, parry and counter, open world, discovering keypoints to open undiscovered areas. Collecting items to unlock certain armors and weapons. Just think where those mechanics came from then go compare it.
The open world of GoT was good but generic, exactly the same as AC. AC didn't make the wheel xD. Didn't make the assessination executions and didn't make the stealth first. The most different thing in GoT respecting on AC was the combat, so much better than AC in my opinion.
Don't misunderstand me. AC games are fun, but AC were copying every successfull game of the era. It's poor accurate to say GoT "copy" AC when AC copy every successfull game they see.

Ghost of Tsushima is one my favourite games, but honestly it's not even close to the early AC RPG's let alone AC Shadows from a technical perspective. AC as an RPG has been top of the industry in graphics, mechanics (for both stealth and combat), world design, story (debatable) for an RPG game for all of the RPG games released... and it makes sense, since Ubisoft has much more money to spend on it than most companies.
GoT was well received because it was the first to take advantage of the setting and given a lot of slack because it's not by a big company. It's an incredible game, but there is a lot of cope in the comment section.

I am gonna keep both games of my pc i have ghost of Tsushima on my pc and if assassin creed shadows comes out and its coming out on my birthday date 15 nov i am definitely gonna buy just ubisoft should learn optimization from ghost of Tsushima they added amd fs3 frame generation they should add it on there last optimize game of ubisoft was ac mirage i want ac shadows to be optimised as well or at least have amd fs3 generation or dlss frame generation

@@realsakibsheikh Yeah Valhalla and Odyssey, came out 3 to 5 years ago, we now have Mirage and soon-to-be Shadows, before hating maybe do some research on the time gap and the games when they released.

Nah we actually need to agree that the world is gonna be way better in shadows. Theres gonna be more and bigger towns with crowds of people in them. GOT didn’t do that. GOT was mostly forest, grass plains and small villages, camps and temples sprinkled around the map. Shadows is out here with cities crowded with people. Theres also gonna be a lot more verticality with the land and towns. Anyone who played AC odyssey should know what to expect from this game. Im not saying that GOT is bad. I love the game. But Shadows takes the world building to a whole nother level. Its what excites me so much about this. Im so excited to parkour and run around this crazy big and dense world with Naoe!
Ghost of Tsushima is also taking place in Tsushima Island, which makes sense to not have those big cities and landmarks.. that comparison will be made when Ghost of Tsushima 2 comes out and we see their take on mainland Japan.

The graphics in Assassin's Creed is overwhelmingly vivid in color. It would be good to have the saturation desaturated a bit more and the light effects (light representation, white shiny reflections, light effects in dark spaces) more controlled or used as art design.

Boring grind game was this Tsushima with endless outpost's clearing, climbing and running with all this foxes, bird's and other "very fun" activity. Only combat entertained at first half of the game. Level design was beautiful but too simple, no citys at all.

@@FeeIRG In broad perspective yes but what i mean is the fighting mechanics. Look at Yasuke's fight for example. The parry and unblockable strike indicators are straight up copy pasted from GOT. The shapes and colors are literally the same. And somehow they managed to made it worse.
