I would like to highlight an archery detail in RDR2: Different types of arrows create different velocity speeds and it makes it so that some arrows go deeper into trees than others. Really insane detail.
This is just a side effect of their physics engine probably... They likely didnt individually code the arrows to go deeper into the trees but instead for each type of arrow to just have differing velocities.
Considering Rockstar's goal of making a cohesive physics engine for each open-world. This game was their latest development.
@@nirjhar4803 thats actually even more impressive
@@SleekHeroo Yeah, the physics engine in RDR2 is something to behold in all of modern gaming in general. If you were to rob an npc, you could literally shoot the coin that they toss you mid-air and that ends up making its own unique metallic noise(based on the bullet I believe).
@@nirjhar4803 this is just bonkey badonkers like wtf how can they do that, now I'm even more excited with what they'll do with gta 6

Ghost of Tsushima seems much more stylised in its graphics while rdr2 is extremely realistic. Either way both are beautiful games.
That's exactly it, in my opinion Ghost of Tsushima is the most beautiful game I've ever played, it is heavily stylized and has unrealistic contrast for example, RDR2 also looks incredible and has a lot more attention to detail, but it isn't as "cool" as Ghost. The gameplay in both is also like that, Ghost is a lot more "gamey" and doesn't pay as much attention to fine details, while when playing RDR2 you have to even pay attention to every rock on the floor so that you don't fall off your horse.
Both fantastic experiences, although I personally prefer Ghost of Tsushima.

@@JoaoPedro-hq7bs Yeah, RDR2 looks realistic, but I would argue that put them in a box for what they could do artistically. The duel between Jin and Shimura and the associated cutscenes are some of the best visuals I've ever seen in any video game ever. That and the music and voice acting of the two characters makes it one of my favorite gaming moments.

Redownloaded it today and yep still mindblowing almost 5 years later, no other game comes close since.
RDR2 (unsurprisingly) looks much more realistic, especially in the little details. But I personally think that the action scenes in GoT look much more cinematic (cinematic like in an old movie, with unnatural light and details that somehow make the scene look better at the cost of being unrealistic).
That is why rdr2 is better. Period. Shut up. Don't speak , shut shut shut.
@@kakakkakaka8814 As I said, it depends on what you are looking for. If the game is focused on delivering a realistic scenario with historical references and a lot of natural-feeling locations, then RDR2 is what you are looking for. But if you are looking for a cinematic action game that looks like it was taken straight out of some anime then GoT suits you much better.
But I'm not gonna lie, overall RDR2 leads in every technical aspect. It's just that GoT deserves a lot of credit as well because it's a really unique game in terms of design.

If only you mentioned how in RDR2 horses do not spawn out of thin air, you need to actually be at the horse's calling range and if they die, they die and you need to get a new horse and create a new bond with them.
Or the fact that horse testicles actually shrink based on temperature.
We HAVE to take into account that RDR2 is developed by one of the biggest AAA studios in the world, and Ghost of Tsushima is developed by a much smaller and lesser known studio, with a team of only 140 people. Based on that info, it really speaks to the GoT team's success to even be compared to RDR2's graphics. I loved both games so much. The red dead horse is insane. The sheer detail and amount of different little variations of movements and twitches the horse makes is unreal. So much work went into something so overlooked.
And other details. 😂
Two words: Horse Balls
That mostly comes from the fact that they used motion capture on the horses. But they also did such a good work texturing them. Indeed, the result is insane. With the right angle and light, RDR2 horses can even be confused with a picture of a real horse. When i was first discovering the game on youtube, i happened a few times to wonder if what i was seeing wasn't camera footage.
The most insane detail to me is how you can see the muscles flex and move under the skin with all the movements. The shoulders and thighs ripping out the skin when walking and sprinting. Even the muscles in the nostrils flexing when it breathes out😭
You say it’s overlooked, but I highly disagree. The horses are arguably the MOST talked about feature in RDR2 purely because of how realistic they are. I actually bought the game for the horses and just happened to fall in love with the story after, although I already knew how the first game had ended.

I'm playing this game for the first time at 35, it makes me look old 😂 I've completed 17.4% of the game
nostalgia!
Stop it black lung
My two favorite games, each unique and great. With RDR2 I’m just so sucked into this world and never want to leave. It’s a time machine
Ghost of Tsushima - $60 million
Sucker Punch Productions
number of employees: 150-200
RDR 2 - $170 million;
Rockstar games
number of employees: 2000-3000
🙂
Both are very well made games with a lot to contribute, but its starting to become unfair to compare RDR2 to any game nowadays.
After playing Rdr2 for awhile it's hard not too 😅
Not at all a similar experience in almost every aspect but Botw can give rdr2 a run for its moneh
If we're talking graphics wb the last of us 2
I wouldn’t say it’s unfair, but I would say a lot of people that make red dead comparisons are RDR2 stans. In terms of detail RDR2 is superior to most every other games, but in terms of gameplay and story I think RDR2 is a little bit too overrated. Is the story in RDR2 bad? Not at all, it’s one of the best stories I’ve had the pleasure of playing through. But I wouldn’t say it’s the greatest of all time. The point I’m trying to make is that RDR2 as legendary as it is gets overpraised by its fan base in my opinion.
A fair comparison between the two games is that RDR2 prioritizes immersion and realism while Ghost of Tsushima prioritizes gameplay. Story is more subjective which a lot of people sadly seem to forget. In my opinion both games have amazing stories and characters so really I think it just comes down to personal preference.
@@lejenddairy wish I could agree with u bro i use to think rdr2 was overrated till I finished it last week I had it since release never got past the snow level man oh man that game something different I got emotionally attached to all the characters and the funny thing is that’s the only game my girl sit and watch me play it’s like a movie and the level of detail it’s like I don’t even have to place a mission to have fun I can hunt and bring things back to my camp
When it comes to realism and physics RDR2 is the top product every game compared to. And probably it will be like that for a long time. I don't believe we're gonna see another insanely detailed game like RDR2 for years. GTA 6 (also Rockstar's) and The Witcher 4 might be the best candidates (if CDPR dedicates in that game like TW3 not CP2077).
last of us 2
The movements are incredibly smooth, decades ahead
@@fuju3695 TLOU2 has incredible environments and details, and really smooth animations. This is probably the only other game that comes close to RDR2 (not talking about story)
@@istoleurfaceha3527 tlou2 might come close to rdr2, but ironically is still far back from rdr2
Witcher 4 is going to be overly hyped crap too.
rdr2 is absolutely incredible. That bear scene in this video and the one if you've come across it where the hunter gets attacked by a grizzly. I stood back hidden behind a rock with binoculars watching this hunter to see if he would yenno, kill a dear, drag it to his horse, place it on the back then ride off. I was fully expecting him too and was shocked to see a huge bear come over the hill line and immediately destroys the guy like in this video but then the bear charges at me, turns out I wasn't as hidden as I thought. It was absolutely terrifying to me in the moment. it was so unexpected, before this I had around 30 minutes of peaceful riding, interactions and just to stumble upon this... It was terrifyingly realistic how quickly it happened too. Keep in mind, I play first person exclusively.
But what an incredible world rockstar created.
Hard to believe RDR2 came out in 2018 and is still the best game I've played. So detailed and polished. Still blows me away.
🙌🙌🙌
Every frame of Tsushima looks like a painting.
Every frame of RDR2 looks like a picture.
Both are beautiful and pleasant to the eyes. No doubts.
One focuses on beauty and the other on realism
Good stuff
I praise Sucker Punch for two things, first for having the courage to "walk on the footsteps of giants", they new beforehand that this comparison would be made, secondly for accomplishing it. Just to be compared to the Mona Lisa of games is a success on it's own. In reality I bought a PS5 because of RDR2, and I found one in a bundle with GoT, I gave it a try, and it was good enough to make me postpone the acquisition of RDR2, that's how good it was. If only some other big AAA game developers could pull off games like GoT ... yeah Ubisoft, I'm talking to you, you just got sucker punched, didn't you?!
Agreed
AC Valhalla and GoT are actually pretty similar regarding details. Putting the lore and whatnot aside for a moment, the weather physics and animals are pretty much the same and in some areas better than GoT.
Why would you buy a PS5 tho for RDR2? I mean, unless you wanna play other PS exclusives, PS5 is a very average way to play the game as it runs just like it ran on the PS4 Pro, which unlike even the One X(which ran at native 4k 30fps) ran at 1440p with bad upscaling to 4k. Probably still looked great to you while playing but this game really benefits from a PC in many aspects, especially image quality. And I guess they might remaster this game in the future for the PS5 and Series consoles but R* being R* will charge money.
@@santhoshsridhar5887 I had a Ps2, third generation I had a friends X-Box so no PS3, I did not bought a PS4 at the time, and when I went to get a PS4 Pro the PS5 was already coming out, I had a ROG laptop so I waited ... and waited, and Covid came, and chip shortages, and then ship shortages. And now here we are today. I didn't bought a PS5 for RDR2, I just never got to play it and it was on the top of my list. They've been talking about the remaster for years now, I doubt that it will come soon, because they must be all "crunching" for GTA VI. And building a gaming PC? Ah, yes, I was young once too, but now I'm older, and wiser.
If we’re talking graphics and details wise Valhalla is literally better than GOT lol
Love both games. Both of their detail and graphics are great. However, Red Dead 2 is definitely a step up compared to Ghost. Rockstar has been making open world games for a long time and their experience shows. Suckerpunch will get there in time.
R*♥️♥️
Just starting playing Red Dead 2.... I'm completely blown away that this game is 5 years old The level of detail and passion that the developers put into this game should be a golden standard of achievement
Yall catch his hands feeling the breeze and/or the plants. 9:38
One cool thing I noticed is that the RDR2 horse flicks it’s ears as if warding away flies. Having spent some time with horses myself, that was very observant of them!
That's the first thing i noticed too. Just like any other animal like cows. It feels more alive. Rockstar paid attention to every small detail.
both are absolutely gorgeous games in their own right but the RDR2 details are incomparable to any other video game.
All video game developers should use RDR2 as reference when making any game.
Isso só mostra que não precisam de nova geração pra se fazer games ,e sim dinheiro e vontade das desenvolvedoras em otimizar o hardware que tem em mãos
Just watch that when the bear attack arthur at 9:02 🤯
RDR 2 is THE BEST game ever 😍
I like how it feels like Arthur is actually expending more energy trudging through the snow
Cuz he’s more humen
Both are fantastic. However, GoT is taking on a unique style to the world and RDR 2 is going for realism. Both are amazing.
1:37 look at RDR2 horse's muscle. Now that's a detail.
As much as I absolutely adore the fluid, realistic, grounded and satisfying movement and physics in Ghost of Tsushima, nothing compares to RDR 2
I think what makes RDR2 stands out of the crowd is the massive QA work done by a huge team. Look at the end credits and almost half of the whole team is just QA. I can say hundreds of people were only responsible for QA of this product. It shows how an ambitious project can turn into success with great attention to QA, something that Cyberpunk 2077 creators forgot about. QA matters the most and maintains reputation of an studio.
@@vancouverexplorer3993 sorry idk but waht is QA?
@@HazeKaito Quality Assurance: The process to make sure your product doesn't have any issues when delivered to end users.
@@vancouverexplorer3993 oh ok, thank you!
But the movement is GoT doesn't seem realistic at all. It looks robotic and janky.
The thing I love about RDR2 and the reason why it is my favourite game of all time is the fact that when you boot it up, it doesn’t feel like you’re playing a game but rather experiencing an alternative life set in a different time period.
I would do anything to erase my memory from all that I know of RDR2 and just start over again.
Old west simulator! So life like its freaky
reason of waiting for GTAVI.
This comparison is like me racing with Usain Bolt
I'd believe it if someone told me rdr2 was 10 years newer than GOT

it will be a dream comes true if we play as Dutch
I have no hope for Rockstar games in the future.
I really doubt there will be a RDR3. Unless they create completely different characters and storyline.
The quality is up to marketing strategy and policy of each company. If they got strict frame work then they can't do the best one.
Funny I got this in my recommendations. I’ve being replaying Tsushima recently because I felt like diving into an immersive open world, but I kept feeling like something was missing.
I eventually dropped out of Tsushima mid Act II and went back to Redemption to see if it satisfied my urges.
It amuses me how red dead 2 can feel like an evolution of a lot of games that were released *after* it. 😂
Simply a masterpiece.
Ghost is incredible in its own way but Red Dead 2 is probably the most realistic game ever made. There is just nothing like it. It nails the bright colours and realism of nature with light and shadow perfectly.
Ghost of Tsushima was truly epic. It was made to feel like a Kurasawa movie, and did a damn good job of it.
You know damn well you never watched any Kurasawa movies, get of out of here with that repeated talking point.
