The families & friends of 100+ people who died a couple winters ago would disagree with your point of view. Why? BECAUSE TEXAS NEEDS ENERGY!!!! Our power plants are failing, refusing to fix them, our power grid is failing, with corrupt politicians refusing to acknowledge there is a problem even when the power plants are screaming they need repairs, the heat & lights go out in winter & deep summer. Power. We need the power. Power is just as important as food nowadayz. DUH! There is room for both. The ONLY issue here is the solar construction company did not comply with the sediment roll-off. THAT is the actual issue. Period. And they need to be held accountable & FIX IT literally ASAP. Building solar panel farms is NOT the issue - it is a LONG OVERDYUE necessity Texas desperately NEEDS, and the closed-minded, willfully-ignorant Tx government needs to realize that & support solar & wind energy much much more!!
Making the solar panels use a tremendous amount of energy . They have a shelf life and will end up in land fills or recycled which will also take a tremendous amount of energy. All the 'save' the earth programs are short sighted and it is all about someone making money.

My question is who is going to pay to clean up my land after the first major hail storm passes through, destroys all of those solar panels and the contaminants from the material used to make the panels runs off into the creeks and onto my land. This is a joke, this isn't saving the earth its destroying it.

@@joet1669also how long do those solar panels last? How many years do they produce electricity and what happens to them after they are no longer able to produce electricity? 10 years 20 years?

@@erichendricks423 What logic am I suspending? You’re making a lot of generalizations, but not actually stating facts. I stated a simple, scientific fact. (Although as a matter of opinion, maybe you don’t care if people throw twenty pounds of garbage out of their car.)
Thanks for the laugh! Honest math: We'd only need less than 1% of all of the world's land surface in solar panels to power the _entire_ electrical needs of the planet. Less than 1%!! This includes day/night cycle and weather. That doesn't even include wind which is just sun power anyways. How is that possible? Because the sun provides a mind blowing 173,000 terawatts of power to the Earth non-stop. Or 1000 watts/m² peak ground and its always peak somewhere as the Earth spins like rotisserie chicken in the heat of the immense sun. More math: The sun is colossally gigantically large at 99.9% the mass of the solar system. The remaining 0.1% is mostly Jupiter and Saturn. The Earth is like a grain of sand next to a 10-pin bowling ball. All the *combined* fossil on Earth compared to the Sun's power is literally like child's cup of water compared to an ocean. All of that sun power is clean abundant fusion power. The amount that reaches Earth is huge but still a tiny tiny amount of the Sun's entire power of 3.8×10²⁶ watts. Have you seen the long list of oil spills that have occurred over the decades? The BP DeepWater Horizon spill in 2010 leaked 627,000 metric tons of crude for _months_ - the spill area was the size of Portugal. Gasoline and diesel cars spew their toxic cancerous hydrocarbons (like benzene), NOₓ, SOₓ, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter right into our faces in the neighborhoods where we work, live and play. The nanosized magnetized particulate matter from unburnt fuel and metal shavings of the engine is being found in the prefrontal cortex of humans and animals - highly suspected for causing early onset dementia. The massive petroleum industry needs to run non-stop 24×7×365 to explore, drill, refine and distribute these fuels. It needs an immense amount of energy and emissions - all of that needed before a single drop is burnt for fuel. This stuff does _not_ just magically appear at our gas stations ready to use. The amount of energy that the US uses to refine petroleum is more than enough to power all of its electric vehicles. What will you do when the limited amount fossil fuels become increasingly hard to drill for? Over the next few decades as population ramps up and becomes more energy hungry it will bet even worse. We may never be able to extract all the fossil fuels from the Earth's crust. But the remaining amounts will end up so remote and so deep in the crust that they might as well be on Neptune. The cost to extract those remaining bottom-of-the-barrel amounts will cost a lot more than they could ever be sold for - a negative return on profit.
@@erichendricks423 No - once you look at the totality photovoltaic solar is a problem in many ways, mostly because it is massively overbuilt. Here in the North American west we have way too much PV solar already; the generation drops off rapidly just as demand peaks. Google "duck curve caiso" to see the report by the California Independent System Operator - the organization responsible for keeping the lights on in California. On a typical Spring day conventional generation has to ramp up 13,000 MW in three hours as the sun goes down and people go home. Where does most of that generation come from? The only sources that can ramp up that fast are fossil, particularly natural gas. 50 years ago we were running out of natural gas; in 1976 I bought the last house in a new development that included natural gas service because the supply was running out. Then came fracking, and natural gas became plentiful again. That is where the energy surge required by solar comes from. It is not a stretch to say photovoltaic solar generation requires fracking or storage, and storage is still in its infancy.

I have the misfortune of living in a Renewable Energy Zone in the Central Tablelands of NSW Australia. They are installing hundreds of thousands of hectares of wind and solar in our region, agricultural land. The land here has many areas with stands of native trees and scrub. The area is teeming with native birds and wildlife. One of the solar projects being built a few kilometres up the road will utilise 1,700 hectares and 1,300 of it will be bulldozed down to bare earth removing all native trees, scrub and every blade of grass. The larger animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and emus are driven out and fenced off from familiar territory and water sources. The smaller animals such as echidnas, turtles, reptiles and small marsupials that cannot escape in time will be bulldozed over and destroyed. A proposed wind project near us will utilise 7,300 hectares and will see the installation of 69 wind turbines each at 7MW and standing at 280m high and 200m wide. The largest onshore turbines in the world and they will be a few metres short of the tallest structure in Sydney. An instant industrial city just a few kilometres from our beautiful historic town. There have been 19 endangered species of birds identified in our region, as well as endangered bats and Koala habitat. We have large flocks of different varieties of parrots that regularly fly across the intended site, as well as Wedge Tailed Eagles, Nankeen Kestrels and other raptors. We also have waterbirds and finches and numerous other avian species. In the case of endangered species, all the developers have to do is purchase certificates and they will be absolved of any responsibility for the loss of these creatures. At just over halfway through the planning stages for our region alone they are up to 32 projects and so far they are up to 800 wind turbines. There will be millions upon millions of solar panels, an unknown number of inverters, substations and kilometres of transmission lines. The environmental damage being done globally is criminal. As is the humanitarian degradation in Africa and China. The toxic waste from the mining, processing, manufacturing and end of life disposal of renewables is already deeply concerning. What is happening around the globe is a disgrace and has nothing to do with saving the planet. It's about power and greed. I was sad to see the NIMBY label thrown out there here in the comments. It is devastating to see your sense of place, your home being destroyed. Few people grasp the scale of the destruction that will be necessary to implement the 'green' transition. It will take many generations to undo the damage. Please educate yourselves, and then bombard your political representatives.
@Margaret Armstrong Thank you for sharing the details of this sad disaster. The first proximal answer is solar on every roof, a space already built. What you are seeing is being done for money, not a 'green transition'. The idea is not to switch over for the environment's sake. But a new form of gold rush for the rich to replace the pot of gold of oil. All the capacity you are describing is not for Australians, it is for a new export industry as an international energy supplier because open, natural Australia has "exploitable space" The leadership in Canberra is still "money to be made" bought off politicians.
@@philliplamoureux9489 What I described is just one Renewable Energy Zone. There are many throughout Australia and these are simply to replace the capacity of coal-fired power plants that are being shut down and blown up. What they are building now will not be enough to supply domestic use, let alone charging EV's and running industry. There is one massive solar project in the Northern Territory that is hoping to send energy to Singapore but the scale and cost is insane and the loss of energy over thousands of kilometres will be a problem. The project was in administration recently and I'm not sure what stage it's at now. Two of our billionaires were squabbling over details and a company in Singapore backed out. Singapore would be better off installing SMR's, it would be cheaper in the long run and they would receive clean reliable energy 24/7 without the need for backup. A report was put out this year on the 'output' of total nameplate wind and solar in Australia on average over all of last year. For wind the average output over the year was 30% of nameplate and for solar it was 20%. That is why they are over building so much of this infrastructure. Nameplate capacity factors of wind and solar are not equal to coal, gas and nuclear. Renewables are weather dependent and cannot possibly deliver nameplate capacity. Whereas coal, gas and nuclear are 'engineered' to supply nameplate capacity reliably 24/7 without the need for backup. Even over building renewables will not match the capacity of coal and gas because the source of energy, wind and sunlight, is unreliable. No matter how much they build there will still be times when there is no wind or sun. How will the backup batteries be charged in those circumstances? NSW is depending heavily on the Snowy 2 pumped hydro scheme. This project was supposed to be completed in 2021 at a cost of 2 billion dollars. They have been plagued with problems and now it looks like it will be lucky to be completed by 2030 and the cost is estimated to have blown out to 20 billion dollars! We could have had several SMR's up and running over that time and had money left over, and without the need for new transmission lines. Added to that Australia is drought prone, always has been, and a severe drought would affect the function of pumped hydro if water supplies dropped. Even pumped hydro is weather dependent! Yes, I agree, none of this has anything to do with saving the planet. And it isn't, it's accelerating it's demise.

Even so, having a small crew dust off a solar farm's panels is a pittance in cost as its mostly unskilled labor that can be easily trained. Large scale solar farms now having drybrush automated robots dust off the panels. This stuff is not hard to do. Compare against the colossal amount of work needed to bring petroleum from the depth of the crust and oceans -- those are truly huge amount of engineering that will be remembered for ages. The pitiful part is that all that engineering, brain power and trillions of dollars is all for dead-end technology that has wrecked havoc on the planet's biosphere.
Windmills in the US last less than20 years and never make enough power to pay for thier construction ,,,let alone the half a million bucks to decommission one...
I have the same near me and getting closer, industrial solar invasion with power lines running throughout, used to me scenic farmland, they ran a 100ft tall power line for over 80 miles using the argument that it's "clean energy" as they rip down thousands of trees in the construction.
Using farmlands and woodlands for solar farms is insane! That land will Never be the same again. When the contract runs out in twenty years the company will just leave. Solar panels have a 20-25 year lifespan. By that time the government money received will go elsewhere. Now it’s up to the property owner(s) to clean up the mess!
Why would they leave at 20 to 25 years? The solar farm can operate in perpetuity because the panels can be replenished - even as the solar farm is still operating with newer and better panels. Older panels can be donated or re-used in less demanding applications and then subsequently recycled. Panels still retain some 85% of the original capacity after 20+ years. Moreover, solar farms are the easiest power plants to construct. After some engineering work and grading, the bulk of the labor is _ground level_ and not much harder than putting up a commercial fence so it can be done by mostly unskilled labor. In fact, one of the complaints of solar farms is worker exploitation. But agricultural farms have long been known to exploit migrant workers too! Agricultural farms will more than likely deteriorate the land much harder than a solar farm would. Agricultural farms are major sources of pesticide & fertilizer run off, animal waste runoff including methane. Constant churning of the soil erodes top soil decreasing micro biodiversity as well as releases CO₂ that have been captured from dead plants and foliage. From The World Wildlife Fund: "When agriculture fields replace natural vegetation, topsoil is exposed and can dry out. The diversity and quantity of microorganisms that help to keep the soil fertile can decrease, and nutrients may wash out. Soil can be blown away by the winds or washed away by rains." From The National Family Farm Coalition: "Due to intensive farming practices, nearly half of all productive topsoil has disappeared in the last 150 years. In the US, topsoil is eroding 10 times more rapidly than it can be replaced. Fertilizers, with voluminous untreated animal waste from factory farms, are polluting ground and surface water across the country." Contrast this with the land solar farms occupy as they will enjoy a much more peaceful life for the *decades* that a solar farm is in operation. As stated before, solar farms can be replenished indefinitely with new and better solar panels so can actually exist indefinitely. Solar farms require practically zero material inputs and outputs. They exist in a practically "passive state" over the land with their sealed solid-state electronics. They can be dry brush cleaned _without water_ robotically or by human crews or a combination. Even so, there is the concept of "agrivoltaics" where solar panels are _purposefully_ placed over farming land. This saves on water with shade and allows many plants to actually grow _more abundantly_ and with _more quality_ due to less heat stress from excessive sun. Plants get stressed out by too much sunlight and will pull more water from the soil in an effort cool itself off and ward off sun tissue damage which wastes water.
@@beyondfossil the people/companies building these farms aren’t about “green energy”. They’re getting paid by the government to build the farms. It’s all about profits! And the land owner isn’t going to replace them.
@@beyondfossil what? I can say the same thing to you! They were going to destroy farmland less than a mile from my house to “create green energy”. The company received so much negative publicity from the community and pulled the plug on the project. Old Jackson Solar: “Originally, German and Romanian Solar Power Plant developers and investors created a shell company in Texas called GSE Eleven, LLC and planned to strip between 750-1000 acres of country farmland and install between 400,000 and 450,000 solar panels paid for with federal tax credits: your tax dollars. They want to sell the overpriced electricity to Oncor and cause your electricity prices to rise. The shell company was purchased by Pattern Development and renamed Old Jackson Solar so that they could hide under a shell company when this project fails. Pattern Development & Pattern Energy are Canadian owned.” Facts!
Ive read solar farm leases and it requires the land be restored to the original state after the 50 yr lease is up unless the lease is renewed. Most people would be praying to renew the lease because if youre making 3x times what farming makes with zero risk and no use of herbicides and chemical fertilizers its a no brainer beyond no brainers! Lol
When I see this kind of stuff happening I really despise the green energy movement. Seems like they’re saying that for environment, but they’re not best interests at heart.
Very little, locally. The panels are elevated so the cooling is convective; the air is heated and can drive local rainfall but the land is actually cooler because of the shade.
The second law of thermodynamics is that no energy is created or lost. The panels convert 20% approximately of the sun’s energy into electricity. That means the solar panels REDUCE heat. In fact leafy greens that normally don’t tolerate Texas summers do better under the partial shade of solar panels. There are legitimate concerns about environmental damage by these industrial projects but a lot of this is driven by fossil fuel propaganda. My Teacher’s Retirement account is probably supported by investments in fossil energy companies,so I have conflicting concerns, but we need to think twice before repeating what we hear on TV.
solar panels better than photosynthesis, donchakno?! "Human progress moves mankind toward collapse. The question is how, and in what manner, shall this ruin come about? I have sketched below how I believe this will inevitably occur and what man must do. The first stage of this collapse will be the breakdown of human knowledge... The second stage will be the destruction of life and matter... The third stage will be failure, when man loses site of what he must do. The industrial activity that expands relentlessly with developments in the natural sciences is basically a campaign to promote energy consumption. Its target has not been so much to boost energy production as to senselessly waste energy. As long as man continues to take the stance that he is 'developing' nature, the materials and resources of the earth will go on drying up. Burdened by growing self-contradictions, industrial activity will grind to a halt or undergo unyielding transformations that shall usher in drastic changes in political, economic, and social institutions. Self-contradiction is most evident in the decline in energy efficiency. In his fascination with ever greater sources of energy, man has moved from the heat of the fireplace to electrical generation with a water wheel to thermal power generation to nuclear power. But he closes his eyes to the fact that the efficiency of these sources (ratio of total energy input to total energy output) has worsened exponentially in the same order. Because he refuses to acknowledge this, internal contradiction continues to accumulate and will soon reach explosive levels." -Masanobu Fukuoka, The Natural Way of Farming, Natural Farming for a New Age, The Only Future For Man

What's crazy is the energy needed to manufacture those photovoltaic panels is greater than the lifetime energy output of those same panels. It's not a net gain... Not even close.

WOW! Let me count the ways (retired from a Fortune 100 electric company 5 years ago, worked as IT Field Services tech - substations, power plants, mountaintops....) 1) NERC. (North American, including all Canada) Stability and security concerns, backed by staggering fines. The NERC CIP (security) rules have all workers walking on eggshells, with five figure fines for an individual (not the company) for going back in a substation control house to retrieve a tool without checking in to the Physical Security Perimeter again. 2) FERC. (USA, market rules) I was a "conduit employee" - I served generation and distribution facilities. Mentioning anything as trivial as a problem with the grid to a power plant employee could have cost me several years' pay and potential federal prison time. 3) EPA (USA, all "footprint" issues.) I once replaced Power Line Carrier equipment at an old substation. I opened the chassis to see what I was throwing away. The transmitter had a sealed metal device with two solder tabs. I was a ham in the 1970s so I recognized it as an oil filled capacitor. In the 1960s and 70s "transformer oil" meant PCB. If I had thrown it in the electronic waste bin I would probably still be fighting federal charges. It took me a month or two to unwind from the daily demands of the job (on call 24/7/365) and I have not fully unwound from the regulatory pressures - even though they are history.
If it works the same in America as it does in Australia there are few regulations in the renewables industry, just lots of money to be made by a handful of people.

@@lowandslow3939The wind and solar projects here are huge and the cumulative effect on the environment, the wildlife and the communities is devastating. At just over halfway through the planning stages for our region alone they are up to 32 projects and that includes 800 wind turbines, so far. One of these projects, which will be a few kilometres from our home, is wind/solar and will consist of more than a million solar panels, 69 wind turbines each at 7MW and standing at 280m high and 200m wide (918ft by 656ft), two BESS backup batteries, two substations and 11 kilometres of its own transmission lines to connect to the new state grid that doesn't exist yet. That one project will utilise 9,000 hectares of agricultural land. What is being proposed here is devastating and the developers are not transparent or forthcoming with information. They know it will be pretty much mandated. They don't care, it's all about the money to them.
I don't understand why they can't put them up on higher poles so that wildlife and plants can still inhabit the land. I have seen so many of these solar farms go up. Why can't they make these over parking lots where they can provide shade in the summer?
This is being done in some cases. The problem is that industrial interests are driven by quarterly profit goals instead of what might be more profitable with a little more forethought.
It is a waste of effort to try to reduce CO2 emmisions at this point. At 430ppm CO2 in the atmosphere, the CO2 energy absorption is near its ultimate maximum, meaning that further increases in concentration will contribute nearly nothing to further CO2-based greenhouse warming. Even the environmentalists admit this, now shifting their argument to “absorption band broadening” in the CO2 spectrum to continue flogging this dead horse. However, and 2nd year physics major (who has understood his lessons) can tell you that this increases at a rate of dT/T since absorption is determined by molecular vibration, so 1/2 kT per degree of freedom. That means, assuming an average atmospheric temperature of -72C (200 degrees Kelvin) every 1 degree Celsius global temperature increase contributes an extra 1/200 or 0.5% to CO2’s heating effect (and I ambeing generous, as the temperature near the earth surface, where most absorbing happens, is much higher, to the contribution is closer to 1/300). Since CO2 is responsible for only 8% of the greenhouse effect, the continued contribution of CO2 to global warming is only 0.5% x 0.08 or approximately 0.05% per degree Celsius. So, for a measly and insignificant benefit of 0.05% per degree Celsius, the “environmentalists” want to destroy the fossil fuel industry, which will destroy fertilizer production, which will reduce food supply, which will cause starvation on a level not seen since Stalin and Mao did this. No surprise there, the people pushing this agenda are modern communists/socialists.
Bill Gates is already doing it. He built a carbon capture plant in Canada in 2015. It removes the equal of 40,000 trees a year in carbon. Now ask yourself why Gates hasn't built more of these when he says we have to act -- or else.....
Why they aren’t putting them on already existing structures is beyond me. That can’t possibly cause global warming and climate change, deforesting and all, nah
Environmentally friendly technology turns out to have many unforeseen consequences. A farmer in Mexico who is surrounded by windmill operations reports many detrimental effects, from the irritating sound, the dead birds and bats, and debris flung off the windmills in high winds. And that doesn't count the environmental and energy costs of manufacturing these "environmentally friendly" technologies that far exceed what they produce. Just like electric cars. These idiots are pushing technologies that are not practical or effective yet and that will be even more environmentally destructive than what we were doing before the Left wanted to save the planet (truth is, the Left just wants to wreck the West).
Texas has been a commie target for years. Government controlled solar panels is a money grabbing project. They will decide who get power and how much from batteries.
I've passed solar farms while visiting family in California you can feel the heat coming off them. Any birds that fly over die before they get to the other side.
When this massive zone of solar panels are in operation, what are the effects atmospherically? Has any studies been done on what happens when the suns rays are essentially reflected back into the air

Most solar projects look for land that has the least amount of work that has to be done. You really think they cut down and leveled every single acre of that project. They did not. There is a lot of facts missing from this story. There is a lot of half truths. Most of the land was cow pasture. There might have been patches of trees in areas and lets be clear that forest that the woman shows is new. Its not old at all. Its likely 30 or so years old. I have seen forest pop up in less than 10 years and get fully established when there is no up keep. Even my own land if I do not mow for a month will sprout 100s of little trees up.

In Ohio and many midwest states they are taking 10's of thousands of average out of production for these wastes of time. Not only that, but the same run off as well.

Same happened to us In Comanche County with wind turbines. Then the insanity really took off with the zealot Appraisal Office. That’s being nice about it. Very nice.
For the state of Georgia it will take 6% of the land covered with solar panels in order to provide the energy needed. But if we go all EVs then double that. And if natural gas usage is curtailed then double it again. And there needs to be storage so you can still get energy at night. That has been predicted to take even more land.

What factors are those? Burning a gallon of gasoline produces 20 pounds of CO2. If you saw someone throw twenty pounds of garbage out of a car, you’d probably be upset about it. It’s still garbage, even if you can’t see it.
I suppose that is true if you suspend all logic.

I would ask people to consider the reflective energy produced by a solar field. Think of all the heat that is reflected back into the atmosphere. Talk about causing climate change, and changing weather patterns. We know that when even small lakes are made the add moisture in the air increases rainfall in the area. Likewise the heat caused by the solar field will dry out the moisture and decrease average rainfall, and slightly increase temperatures in the area. Not so green are the mining methods and waste produced by solar. When you consider the full lifespan effects versus any other form of energy solar is horrendous!

Dr no no no
@@philliplamoureux9489 What I described is just one Renewable Energy Zone.

Its amazing how "green energy" is so destructive of ecosystems.
From The World Wildlife Fund:
"When agriculture fields replace natural vegetation, topsoil is exposed and can dry out. The diversity and quantity of microorganisms that help to keep the soil fertile can decrease, and nutrients may wash out. Soil can be blown away by the winds or washed away by rains."
From The National Family Farm Coalition:
"Due to intensive farming practices, nearly half of all productive topsoil has disappeared in the last 150 years. In the US, topsoil is eroding 10 times more rapidly than it can be replaced. Fertilizers, with voluminous untreated animal waste from factory farms, are polluting ground and surface water across the country."
Contrast this with the land solar farms occupy as they will enjoy a much more peaceful life for the *decades* that a solar farm is in operation.

Old Jackson Solar:
“Originally, German and Romanian Solar Power Plant developers and investors created a shell company in Texas called GSE Eleven, LLC and planned to strip between 750-1000 acres of country farmland and install between 400,000 and 450,000 solar panels paid for with federal tax credits: your tax dollars. They want to sell the overpriced electricity to Oncor and cause your electricity prices to rise. The shell company was purchased by Pattern Development and renamed Old Jackson Solar so that they could hide under a shell company when this project fails. Pattern Development & Pattern Energy are Canadian owned.”
Facts!
Seems like they’re saying that for environment, but they’re not best interests at heart.
how much heat do the panels produce in the surrounding areas
ALOT, I live relatively close to one of the farms.
Very little, locally. The panels are elevated so the cooling is convective; the air is heated and can drive local rainfall but the land is actually cooler because of the shade.
The second law of thermodynamics is that no energy is created or lost. The panels convert 20% approximately of the sun’s energy
into electricity.
That means the solar panels REDUCE heat. In fact leafy greens that normally don’t tolerate Texas
summers do better under the partial shade of solar panels.
5:09 Look at that cloudy day. How much energy do you think this solar farm will produce on a day such as this?
solar panels better than photosynthesis, donchakno?!
Because he refuses to acknowledge this, internal contradiction continues to accumulate and will soon reach explosive levels." -Masanobu Fukuoka, The Natural Way of Farming, Natural Farming for a New Age, The Only Future For Man
How is cutting down hundreds of thousands of acres of trees, shrubs, bushes and grass while killing literally everything that lived there from bees to deer environmentally friendly?
The counter would be the alternative methods of getting energy, which may be worse for the environment.
Funny how “ GREEN ENERGY” is everything but that .
Wow, I had no idea that what this article was about until now. Pretty scary on what could happen with other land next. Sorry you're going through that.
Are you? Are you now?
Wow, I can't believe they don't make them mitigate before or as they are building these solar farms. Shouldn't that be part of their permit process? Farms actually seems like the wrong word, in this case! Just feels like everything is going to hell
Holding the environmental crowd accountable for their actions? That’s never going to happen.
Greed$$$. The solar energy company could have left a large wooded buffer zone and oak trees to prevent nasty water runoff. But that would have cost them a few bucks. MONEY IS EVERYTHING TO CORPORATE GIANTS.
Wouldn't farm owner be the wrong word to describe the owners of the wooded lot complaining? The guy with the farm tractor I can agree is a farmer!
@@lisam4503 believe you're missing the point. Land owner would be more accurate. Some people do farm trees.
@@dpirkl4560 Clearly that property wasn't a tree farm. There isn't a whole lot of money in selling lumber off land as a private landowner. Even off surprisingly large amounts of acreage.
Wait...I heard "wetlands". Why isn't the EPA stopping the construction of the solar farm like they do for private houses? Why isn't the EPA concerned about the mass erosion of topsoil? I guess satisfying Engie (French corporation) and its board is more important than doing the right thing.
I always say that I care too much about the environment to be an environmentalist.
YES YES YES! Best comment I've seen on this!!!!
What's crazy is the energy needed to manufacture those photovoltaic panels is greater than the lifetime energy output of those same panels. It's not a net gain... Not even close.
Totally false.
Disgraceful!!!! Shame on them!!!!! There's the correct way of doing this and it surely is not this way!
It's Texas, what else would you expect from a state that elects reptiles like Senator Rafael "Ted" Cruz and Governor Gregory Wayne Abbott to represent their values and morals? I think the state motto seems to be: "Profits before all else !"
I guess you forgot we live in a capitalist society so until we change that profits before people and the environment.
I liked Germany in 1933 better.
The National Socialists had strong animal rights and environmental laws as well as a national charter and 25 Point Program that protected the German people, the workers and their businesses.
But we destroyed them for a quick buck and to establish the Petro Dollar and we sided with communism in WWII so today all we are seeing is the dirty Marxist chickens coming home to roost
Enjoy the rotten communist eggs who have successfully infiltrated your schools, media and guv'ment.
This is why Vladimir Lenin called y'all useful idiots.
What you call "human rights" in America is nothing more than white genocide.
Could give a fuck what happens to this shit system. The people are what matters.
Unless we go back to living by the Constitution what's the point of supporting this war machine?
Hitler and Goebbels warned us that capitalism and communism were different sides of the same globalist coin.
Did we listen?
Nope
No correct way except Don't do it.
Trees they removed probably would have done more for the planet then the panels. And one freak hail storm rip.
Yes and we get frequent hail storms around here.
@@culturedape279Hailstorms are problematic in regard to solar panels in regards to toxic leaching, especially the thin film cadmium/tellurium variety .
Trees are part of oxygen
As someone who lives in North East Texas, hail storms happen here almost monthly in the spring and summer months
Our green new world just plain disturbing, you don't see this on the news.
"Regardless of the source of the complaint?" Interesting that they felt compelled to say that...
The problem is not that it is solar, the problem is that it is a corporation. It could be a corporate pig farm or a manufacturing facility. If we decentralized electric production so all of us produced electricity these "farms" would not exist. Every corporation regardless of their product needs to be monitored constantly. It is all about the money flow to politicians local, state and federal.
WOW! Let me count the ways (retired from a Fortune 100 electric company 5 years ago, worked as IT Field Services tech - substations, power plants, mountaintops....)
1) NERC.
How was this not addressed in the permitting process?
If it works the same in America as it does in Australia there are few regulations in the renewables industry, just lots of money to be made by a handful of people.
@@margaretarmstrong2445 It’s very different in the US. I own a small commercial and residential solar company. On one job, the PUC, Public Utilities Commission made me do a sound study to assure the neighbors (farm) that there wouldn’t be excessive noise generated by the solar field. The cows made more noise.
This is only the beginning of the issues and it will get worse.
I blame Donald Trump.
Hey, but don't let the cows poop on the same land because THAT would be horrific...
No surprise there, the people pushing this agenda are modern communists/socialists.
hey mate all this C02 BS is just that BS,there is no carbon problem as carbon isnt a pollutant its plant food
And all that glass n steel will cause an actual warming effect in that area.
Majored media won't cover this, waste of money, that subsided by the taxpayer.
Texas has been a commie target for years. Government controlled solar panels is a money grabbing project. They will decide who get power and how much from batteries.
Yeah, Texas should succeed and change capital locations as Austin is messed up.
Did contract work at this site . Did not know it was contaminating the water. Couldn't have done anything to stop it
I’ve never worked on a job with major dirt work that didn’t have a SWPP in place.
These companies who push for these solar farms are cutting down trees that clean the air. The irony
This is next door to my home county of Hunt and it breaks my heart.
Cut down the trees that take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen how is that environmentally sustainable?
I've passed solar farms while visiting family in California you can feel the heat coming off them. Any birds that fly over die before they get to the other side.
When this massive zone of solar panels are in operation, what are the effects atmospherically? Has any studies been done on what happens when the suns rays are essentially reflected back into the air
There's plenty of places to put that without ripping up a forest
Watching all those trees go down would have been heart breaking. Even though it wouldnt have been MY property, it would still have hurt. Just watching-the birds, other animals fenced out...and those waterways look SO unhealthy.
Most of the land was cow pasture.

I pass by an unfinished solar farm that just has the poles sticking up out of the ground and I think how funny it would be to hang fabric to make a giant lets Go Brandon flag or something like it and lay it out on top of all the posts in the middle of the night with a large team of people., (so it could be seen from airplanes) Of coarse even that would probably be considered terrorism and everyone would get arrested or worse.
in Europe they want to take farmers land so they can build these monstrosities.
Lol, the farmers I know love the idea of making 3x the income. Only the people who dont get the offer to do the same are hugle jealous. Why would you want to farm at a yearly risk making 1/3 what you could make leasing out your land for solar. Its a no brainer! Only dumb people would not take a solarfarm lease for no risk and 3x more income!
“Clean renewable” the stupidity is stunning.
This is not even to mention the HEAVY METALS runoff into the ground water/streams. Hopefully they are well sealed. But also, if they would have planted grass and done the change a little more gradually, then things would have been FAR better. Grass holds water and soil.
The most Cherished Human Being I have EVER met told me once.. "you can get away with murder in Texas but don't mess with their money" this statement has always stayed with me for over 35 years because it has been proven over and over time and time again..
Using farmland in Florida also. Racks should be build on every parking lot. The energy could be produced closer to the users.
I agree with you in principle, but there really is no place fit for this infrastructure at all. It really is creating global environmental damage just to make it.
In Ohio and many midwest states they are taking 10's of thousands of average out of production for these wastes of time. Not only that, but the same run off as well.
Is there an end of life plan for the development? Are there recycling plans for the spent toxic panels? Usually there isn’t and then the taxpayers have to foot the bill.
Same happened to us In Comanche County with wind turbines. Then the insanity really took off with the zealot Appraisal Office. That’s being nice about it. Very nice.
I thought trees take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
Thanks Biden
It looks like oil is still the best option, Oil is cheap, plentiful, a renewable resource(oil is decomposed organic matter)
For the state of Georgia it will take 6% of the land covered with solar panels in order to provide the energy needed. But if we go all EVs then double that. And if natural gas usage is curtailed then double it again. And there needs to be storage so you can still get energy at night. That has been predicted to take even more land.
Where do old used up panels go 2die Delaware
Solar farms are the most heinous act I’ve ever seen.
I’ve worked in renewables for 15 years and I can say it is not very green. Wind turbines use alot of gear oil and hydraulic oil. I have a list of issues with renewables
