I took my CDL exam at Prime 1 year ago. I did two "GOALs", leaving the engine running, transmission in neutral, and brakes applied, with a Prime examiner and a Missouri DOT examiner present. No points were deducted.

Good video but you should have focused more on what the driver was doing with the tractor to guide the trailer in the box not the back of the trailer. That would be more helpful for a struggling student

I know this comment is from a while ago but I'm in school now. I have basically perfected the Straight back and the offset but the alley dock is giving some issues. I have done it perfectly twice but every other time I end up needing help to make it right. Idk what I did the times I got it right lol. I should have paid attention but I guess I was happy to do it by myself I wasn't thinking. Anyways my question is I can get my trailer in between the cones but my truck is at a 90 degree or a almost a 90 degrees and for some reason I can't figure out which way to cut the wheel to get the truck straight and then I can turn it into a straight back. It's confusing. Just trying to get all the help I can. I take the test next week. Bc my instructor points are I make a hard left while outside the cones and that gets my trailer going in between the cones but then I freeze and can't figure out how to get the truck straight without crossing the boundary. Thanks in advance of you have any tips on this.

As long as the truck is not straightened or aligned with the trialer your right side steering will be just bringing back the steering wheel to the center to enforce the trialer to go to left. While you are maintaining your curve keep watching the driver side mirror specifically the rear left corner of your trialer once it starts moving to the right you should start turning your steering wheel to the left two turns to jackknife it a little bit. Keep doing and following the same pattern and technique till you get your truck and trialer aligned and striaght with each other. At this point start perform the striaght backing as usual 👌👍

90 degree backing is basically about set up positions. Take 7 steps from the cone where u are going to back into. After that 7steps walk 4steps towards your rear bumper and thats how you will know that u are properly set up and lined up before performing the 90 degree backing and remember cut the wheel to the right and roll with it. Depending on the trailer u are doing your 90 degree backing u can go 95 degree after u your wheels are cut hard to the right as u are rolling. Once you approach 95degrees stop and cut the wheel hard left and once again roll back between the cones and after you are inside the cones remember your landing gear has to be in line with the first cone then do your GOAL and make sure you complete your 90 degree backing within 10 minutes. I personally had bumpy ways along the way to master the 90 degree on my CDL test at the drive test centre multiple times. Good luck to all who are talented brave and passionate about being truck drivers. Anyway monday is my CDL road test west of toronto @10 am and im doing an Off set backing for the first time hope i get a normal examiner. Hope i pass my Az CDL on monday and start applying to major trucking companies and applying my skills i have learned through out the process. Take care
