lol I sure don't want to have another night out like that one ... I do still need to up grade my stuff with a good light weight tarp .. Thanks for watching!
I agree 100% with you that we don't make the hounds hunt. They love it themselves and that's what they are born to do. It's instinct. My hounds love hunting so much that's the only thing they want to do. They get excited when they see the box doors open.
Yes sir ... its what they love to do.. one of these days I'm going to make a rant video about all the lies and falsehoods some think about hounds and houndsmen .. Thanks for watching and commenting.... your welcome in my camp anytime !
I've been out so deep and so thick and then it starts raining. Can't see. It was hell. But. like you, I made it out. And added more stuff to my backpack for the next time I get into a situation like that.
Yeah a bad experience can be the best teacher .. I am definitely adding a sil tarp or some kind of emergency bivy sack to my gear.. I've stayed out in super cold weather but it was also dry .. thanks for watching
Man awesome story. Good memories getting to run bears in the capitans back in the day. Sure do love that country up by Hillsboro and emery pass, pretty but rugged! Pops got a house near Caballo so get to spend some good time down there. Keep it up!
Yeah I just sold my place on the Hillsboro hwy down by Caballo .. still have my camp up by Kingston and bought another place by Radium Springs out side of Las Cruces .. if when your going over emery pass and kinda look over to the NE my camp is down in one of those rough canyons.. Thanks for watching and let me know when your coming through stop by and visit ...
You asked why we hunt we hounds, it's because we are PLUM CRAZY. Lol if coon at 1 or 2 am or over night in the mountains, its ALL about the dogs. NOTHING beats the echo of a hound in a big valley or across a corn field. These hounds are genetically programed to run and tree varmints. They live for 3 things, hunt, eat and their owners love. Great video beautiful country God bless and good hunting
As always Awesome video brother. Absolutely beautiful rough place. Setting by a fire drinking coffee very pleasant. Then Mother Nature puts a whipping on you lol yep got to love it🤛
It was long night for sure .. wish I could of videoed the next day but everything I had was too wet or the battery was dead.. I've been going over and watching some of your videos .. keep up the good work .. and Thanks!
You need a tarp, lightweight one about 15 or 20 x 20. There's an alternative to heavyweight ponchos and rain gear. You need to look up something called Frogg Toggs. It's a jacket and a pants set. They're usually cheap about 40 to 50 bucks. Not sure what kind of material is made out of but it is lightweight like paper mache almost but you can't tear it with your hands. It's totally waterproof and it breathes. My friend bought a set to use when riding his motorcycle and he's had them for 5 years and both of them rolls up in a little ball the size of a grapefruit. A reflective emergency blanket would also be handy, as well as an emergency bivy reflective.
I do have a tarp .. just didn't have it on that day .. and I had a set of those frog togs carried them around for along time they finally fell apart .. Really wasn't expecting rain or having to stay out .. I go a little bit better prepared when I'm in that country now days .. learned my lesson lol .. Thank you
2 ponchos big ones . With snaps and tie downs. Will make a tent and will cover yout to your boot tops. And roll oc 550 paracord. .. I've stayed dry under thema bunch of times.
Yep... if it would of been colder and as wet as I got it sure could of been worse.. everything I had was good just need some kind of tarp.... I did have some trash bags probably could of used them for more protection .. thanks !
I lost Deets. I think the fell off of a bluff up there ... one of these days I will make a video about Deets and his litter mate Newt ..sad story about both of them .. Thanks Steve
lol thanks I might be able to get use to it.. I know that I could get use to not having the sun beat down on my pigment impaired skin lol .. Glad to see your comment i was wondering if you were still around.. Thanks for watching!
Put a 8x8 sheet of plastic in the bottom of your pack and just leave it there. Or better yet buy a painters plastic it's all folded at about 3x6 and it unfold to a great big sheet . Takes up no space.
My wife grew up in Tucson. Her and my son usually go out there once a year to visit her family. We'll probably end up somewhere in north central Arizona at some point.
I had a insulated blanket that I carry with me but it was worthless in the rain...reason I got it was because I got so cold one night out with just one of those space blankets .. I guess i should carry both ...thanks!
cool.. I bob the tails when they are 3 days old.. when we cold trail alot and they are in the brush they get the end of their tail bloody and it hurts them .. so most of them we bob there tail... i have 3 young dogs right now that have long tails.. If that happens to them I will take them to the vet and have them bobbed .. Thanks for watching
Wow, that was great. I enjoyed watching your playbacks from your retrived cameras. The wild animals are plentiful.
Yes they are in that area .. I need to get back .. thanks
That is amazing 👏 😮
Good story. Love hear that I'm not the only one that has spent the nights out in bad weather chasing dogs.
lol I sure don't want to have another night out like that one ... I do still need to up grade my stuff with a good light weight tarp .. Thanks for watching!
I’m up here in the Pacific Northwest where we get plenty of rain. It can really foul a day up.
