- Can you imagine paying 1000% more money for rent, groceries and other stuff than you usually do? Welcome to the world's most expensive country. It is Switzerland. The cost of living index is the crazy high here. There are only six cities in the world currently more expensive than New York and all six of them are in Switzerland. It is also the country with the highest per capita millionaires. But why is this the case? I explain in this video.

Whenever, I think about Zurich, I never think about the world's richest city. Everytime Don 2 comes to my mind.
I most love Lausanne. If I could go back there to live, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Basel also has fond memories, but Lausanne is closest to my heart. It is my city of refuge. I didn’t have loads of money when I lived there, but one can get along okay if they have a decent place to live. This was years ago, but I rented a small studio flat outside Lausanne for about $350 USD a month. At the time, the dollar was stronger than the Swiss Franc, though.

First of all thank you for posting such Informative videos. I follow your channel on a regular basis. You are doing a great job. I support you. However, I feel the tax factor in Swiss that you mentioned might be otherwise. What I have heard is that income tax is too high which includes a component called wealth tax, which is paid of the total assets of a tax payer. Especially, if the person is rich that tax payer end up paying a whopping 40% plus towards tax to the Swiss Govt. Please correct me is I am wrong. In your video you have only mentioned about VAT or indirect tax.

Couple other reasons -1) it's a landlocked country which pushes up prices of goods. 2) There is plenty black money in the system like Delhi which pushes up asset prices. also, some of the stashers of black money die without even staking a claim to the money parked in swiss financial institutions thereby enriching the swiss owners and shareholders

Besides, I had been to Switzerland 2 year back and its reminding me Lucerne where you are walking through. My wife feeded many ducks in the lucerne lake. We had 3 hot dogs from lucerne lake area which cost us around 15/20 swiss franc.
