  • Finally, we have a Lithium Under Bonnet Dual Battery Solution that we're super stoked to recommend and install for our customers.
    It's a well known fact that putting lithium under the bonnet can often cause issues to the lithium battery. But finally a company that has been in the battery game for 20 plus years has come out with a solution. INVICTA by Sealed Performance Batteries (SPB) have released their new range of Lithium Hybrid Starter Batteries. They have spent the last couple of years researching and developing this new range and we are so excited to show it to you.
    How it works - you have one battery under the bonnet that has a dual purpose...
    The starting battery for your car - so just like the normal calcium battery that is in your vehicle now, it will fire up your car every time.
    Deep-cycle lithium battery to run all your 12 volt devices from - fridge, compressor, lights...PLUS it has an added feature as standard - 'The Jump Start Feature' which is an important function that will give you more confidence when heading out on your next adventure. The inbuilt BMS (Battery Management System) will automatically reserve a small amount of capacity in the battery for starting/cranking, so if you are unable to start your car, simply press a button on top of the battery and voila it starts!
    Andrew and Shaun from INVICTA talk you through the new 'GAME CHANGER' in Dual Battery technology...
    The INVICTA Hybrid Starter has 85% usable battery power as a deep cycle battery and can be connected directly to the alternator (no DC-DC charger needed).
    Like we said...'GAME CHANGER'
    This under-bonnet dual battery system will work nicely in a Pajero, MU-X, Colorado, RAV, Ranger, Everest, D-Max, Hilux, BT-50, Amarok or most SUV's that have previously had no under-bonnet dual battery system options available.
    Plus if you can fit the MAX version under the bonnet - it will even run your winch while your vehicle is turned off.
    Did we mention this was a 'GAME CHANGER'

    Swapped to lithium batteries a few years ago, in the long run it is well worth it.

    Love the concept but the price is going to have to come down considerably before these become common

      Similar price to put a 120ah lithium in a box with a dcdc but this is alot more convenient. Obviously less overall capacity as it has to be a starter also but for overall ease of installation it has me tempted.

    Hi Guys love the idea of this. I have a Nissan Patrol TiL series 5 and want to understand if this battery is built for the temperature under the bonnet and if this affect insurance

    • @accelerateoffgridtouring
      @accelerateoffgridtouring  2 роки тому

      Hey Martin, definitely built to handle the under bonnet temperature. Invicta has been doing R&D on this for a while.
      Do you mean Nissan Warranty or your comprehensive vehicle insurance?

    Hi, can the other Invicta battery's in the product range be recharged without a dc dc charger?

      Hey John, the Hybrid Invicta Batteries do not need a DC2DC Charger. The standard Invicta Batteries do need a DC2DC Charger. Shoot us an email or give us a call if you need more clarification around this

    Not a mention of the inherent problems of Lithium technology and charging in extreme cold.

      The batteries themselves have a low temperature protection set at 0deg internally.
      We are yet to see a battery get to this point but it is only recharging at low temps that will cause damage. The battery will allow discharge at this temp, As the battery is discharging the cells warm up and then will begin to take charge when safe. INVICTA batteries are in use across AUS & NZ with no problems thus far! This does not get delved into due to it not being an issue that has been seen yet in colder climates.

      Hey JJ, as they said in the video they have been doing R&D on the lithium battery under bonnet for 2years. Invicta usually have a 7year warranty on their batteries (but not for ones put under bonnet due to the heat under bonnet), they have only been testing the under bonnet lithium battery for 2years so have done a 3year warranty as that is more then what they have tested it for. His reference to the one test we can't fake is time...is to the warranty, I'd suggest over time we will see Invicta increase their warranty on their lithium battery from 3years to.... who knows. But that can only come with time and testing over time. I hope that clarify's your questions. We didn't do any testing in the video, that is all done by Invicta in their head office.

      @@accelerateoffgridtouring I was just being facetious. :). I wouldn’t have said it like that, but I realised what he was trying to say. 😉
      I had an under bonnet lithium. I have removed it. In time they may develop battery’s to handle it. But they have to be able to take around 80 degrees and not be affected. This would give them a reasonable buffer.

    • @accelerateoffgridtouring
      @accelerateoffgridtouring  2 роки тому +1

      We've definitely seen issues with other brands of Lithium's under bonnet. Hence we've never recommended them. We have sooooo much faith in Invicta and the R&D they do, hence we are starting to recommend them. They also now OK/warranty their standard range for under bonnet (but 3yr warranty) so we fit their standard 100aH in a 200 series under bonnet as a dual battery (not start battery)
      ONLY TIME WILL TELL 😂

      @@accelerateoffgridtouring So you can use any of Invicta Lithiums as a secondary battery under bonnet in any vehicle that it will fit? Also can their start batteries be used with a Smart Alternator in the new Next Gen Ranger?
