Asics Nimbus I find more on the relaxed side while the Saucony Triumph is more responsive and can even be used for races. On feet comfort and fit the Asics has it on spades though. Nimbus has your typical very good insole but the Triumph uses their superb pwrrun+ foam on their insoles as well which adds another dimension.
I tried the nimbus 25 over Xmas. Got really bad numbness even with laces very loose. I think it's down to being a tad narrow and feet sinking in to the shoe causing my feet to be a bit trapped. I replaced with the novablast 4 and no such issues. Instantly felt a better shoe to me even comfort wise which surprised me.
@EDDBUD I did weigh them but I didn't think the nimbus felt especially heavy. But yeah the novablast came out same as my boston 12's. 286g iirc in a size 10.
Don't get why they made the sides of foam have the novablast sharp lines design aesthetics. Makes it look less cushioned visually compared to the round sides of the 25s
This is probably the best running shoe I have ever owned. It really protects my legs and feet and has helped me recover from a foot injury. I did get hot spots with the factory insole so I replaced and my hotspots are gone. Although I do need to rub petroleum jelly on the bottom of my feet to make sure those hot spots don't come back. Overall, I also feel like I can run faster because of the protection so I don't hold back my pace as much. This shoe is a winner for me. Firmer than the 25 but in a good way so that you don't sink into the shoe. I have owned Novablast 2, 3 and 4 and prefer the Nimbus although my sizing was wrong on the NB. I just didn't feel they protected my legs as much as the Nimbus.
I've recently brought Novablast 3 in the sale £60, it's a bit slippy on wet ground but on dry it's a good daily runner.its worth £60 . Happy New Year to you.
Thanks Ed, another helpful review as a lover of the 25 this is on my list when it is time to replace it. Have to say as a not especially fast runner I’ve successfully beat all of my PBs from 13 miles down to 5k in the 25 in the last 6 months. Maybe that is more about me than the shoe.
Like your previous video, I think companies should take 2 yrs before releasing updated versions. Just release new colourways before its time to update.
I’m sure I’ll get these eventually but I went with the 25 on discount. I’ve enjoyed the 25 and my biggest complaint of how warm it got in the summer isn’t an issue as cold as it is right now.
Thank you for the thorough review. I might be interested in this update with seemingly better lockdown, but the Superblast makes it tough to buy other Asics shoes.
I appreciate the detail you go into. I am a slow older runner and I use the New Balance Fresh Foam More V3 for all my runs. I'm interested in this shoe. I wouldn't mind a bit more speed (but maybe that is up to my legs). I'd be in the category of just wanting to finish a race. I watch a lot of shoe reviews but realize that certain shoes are wasted on some of us. One person's easy pace is another person's tempo run. I'd love to see a review where you look at ages and paces and recommend shoes for different types of runners.
Best protective long run shoe on the market. Relatively responsive, very balanced for mid foot strikers too, supremely comfortable, not boring. Amazing improvement vs the 25
I found the 25 a really comfy shoe but too heavy for me, fantastic as a walking shoe but a lot of money to use it just for that, won't be going near the 26, will order another pair of Cloudsurfer 7's instead
180 ECs! For a ploddy squash-fest with no pazzaz! Has the world gawn maaad? Farcical when you think the strung V1 is floating around at around 150 ECs. Great vid as usual though Edd.
I love my Nimbus 25. I weigh 14 stone and wanted something with cushion for my longer runs. I managed to get a second pair recently for a huge discount.
Many comment on here mentioning it’s too heavy. My reviews are aimed to help all runners rather than my thoughts only. Glad it works well for you and thanks for watching
When out of creative ideas, please consider a vid comparing this one to the much cheaper Puma magnify nitro 2. I’m curious about how those two will do.
I tried Nimbus 25 but I couldn't get a good lockdown in the midfoot with my low instep. In standard width my big finger would always rub on the internal lip of side wall on medial side and going up or down in sizing didn't improve anything. The shoe didn't feel special compared to others and the fact that it runs hot doesn't make it useful for me most of the year.
In all honesty my nimbus 25 will last till 28th iteration, so I guess will skip this one. Great review though EDD as always and wish you a happy new year 🎉
Happy New Year Edd! Have the Superblast and adios pro 3 for 1/2 to full marathon. However, noticed my legs definitely need a recovery run as I have been a bit sore just running on the Superblast's and looking to get in the miles while training for NYC 1/2 in March. I'm a relatively light runner (178lbs) 6'1". The 26 I believe maybe $160 USD in the states. However, you think a better fit would be the saucony 21? Really liked invincible 1 and 2 and would love to have that " feel "again but have not found anything that has replicated those-cushion protection with some bounce - I would however take an easy 8-8:30 pace though. Cheers and Thanks!
Hey edd happy new year just to say I'm allways running 30 mile in my gel nimbus 25 just for fun and training i enjoy them edd but its not everyone shoe to run in they absolutely do the job for me 👍🙂
Asics listed it as a specific stack for the sample size. But seems a bit out from normal. Typically my stack height in my size is 4mm more in the heel than the sample.
In your opinion. For some the upper will be a great fit and provide the actual option of running as the super squashy midsoles don’t work for them. Key to reviewing is to think of others.
ASICS uppers are always just too warm for most Australian conditions. I love my novablast 3s but even in winter they are just too warm. Saucony and adidas uppers are fine. It ASICS only seems to cater for you cold climate people.
Great review ✨ I have Novoblast 4 Daily Trainer Boston 12 Tempo Days Endorphin Speed 3 Mix Trainer Can I add this to my rotation for long runs and Easy Miles ? What’s your say
As a lightweight runner, I felt like I couldn't turn over my feet as quickly as I'd like in the Nimbus 25. The Novablast 3 was much better as was the Deviate Nitro 2. I think the Nimbus is a little too much shoe.
Does it require sizing up half a size? What about the width in the forefoot and the volume inside? My feet are 10.7cm wide and size US 10. should i go for 2e or 4e in this? I have the 1080v13 in size US 10 and 2E width
Hi, I am a heel runner and feel back pain & knee pain sometimes. I am near 95 kgs, Which shoe you will recommend to me ASICS nimbus 25, Saucony 21, magnify nitro 2, Nike vomero 17 or deviate nitro 2 ? Your reply will be very helpful for me. Thanks in advance.
@@EDDBUD lastly, can I go for Nimbus 26 as well ? Is 26 on firmer side or same softness, squishy and cushion like 25 ? I know upper is better than 25. Already thanks.
Does anyone know the difference between nimbus 26 and nimbus 26 TR? I will use it to walk and stand a lot. Looking for a confortable shoe for traveling..
@@EDDBUD that’s great , me too 😃 I look forward to your review and trying them myself On Nike website I Kept refreshing the page at 8 but it went from coming soon to sold out instantly
I love the 25, it's a great option for easy long runs. So many shoes though and i'm probably going to catch up in the next update.
Nay from me. Had the 25 and it caused my left knee to play up strangely so had to sell them on. Superblast is my go to asics shoe at the moment
Asics Nimbus I find more on the relaxed side while the Saucony Triumph is more responsive and can even be used for races. On feet comfort and fit the Asics has it on spades though.

Very much my feelings on this one

No problem!

A much lighter option too

Really like how you don’t lean into personal bias. Lovely how you stated a marathon means something different to everyone. Very accommodating sir 🫡
It’s easy to see when you observe those lining up for a race. Everyone is a runner at those events.
Don't get why they made the sides of foam have the novablast sharp lines design aesthetics. Makes it look less cushioned visually compared to the round sides of the 25s

All about impact protection this one. Very comfortable shoe though little weighty for me
Like your previous video, I think companies should take 2 yrs before releasing updated versions. Just release new colourways before its time to update.
It’s a subtle update. But they sell loads of these models as it’s a really big running club kinda shoe for those wanting impact protection.
I’m sure I’ll get these eventually but I went with the 25 on discount. I’ve enjoyed the 25 and my biggest complaint of how warm it got in the summer isn’t an issue as cold as it is right now.
Yeah a more plush upper for sure. Good they improved the outsole grip
Good morning Edd.
Morning!
Thank you for the thorough review. I might be interested in this update with seemingly better lockdown, but the Superblast makes it tough to buy other Asics shoes.
Yes upper is improved though the outsole is the biggest update
The Cumulus 25 looks like a better option to me..
Just picked this one up today. First pair of ASICS. Excited for my first run in ‘em’ tomorrow.
Hope they work out well for you!

Thanks for tuning in. I try and be objective and think of how a shoe might help others
Untie when taking off and tie when putting on. Brilliant. Who knew?
Many don’t. Then complain they wreck the back of their shoes
It’s up a few grams, but it’s a wash since the 25 was heavier when factoring in weight of the pebbles it collected on runs.
Best protective long run shoe on the market. Relatively responsive, very balanced for mid foot strikers too, supremely comfortable, not boring. Amazing improvement vs the 25
Much better outsole on the 26.
But how is the novablast so different when it is the same type of foam ? The trampoline design is a minor difference.
Less upper, no gel in the heel and less rubber.
I found the 25 a really comfy shoe but too heavy for me, fantastic as a walking shoe but a lot of money to use it just for that, won't be going near the 26, will order another pair of Cloudsurfer 7's instead
Yeah but weighty for me. But for others a banger
Looking good mate
Thanks 👍

Not everyone can run in that type of high stack squashy shoe

A good comparison. I will do one of those videos for this model up against similar contenders.

Perhaps the upper update eliminates this issue.

Thanks Ed, great review!
Glad you liked it!
I like the 25, great for easy / recovery runs. I found a bargain of a nearly new pair on vinted though. Works well in my rotation for what it’s worth.
Also could be great to some of us heavier runners
Yes ideal impact protection

Have a great new year!
My nimbus 25 already exceeded 500km mileage. Not sure want to get this new nimbus or try saucony triumph, heard a lot of good feedback on the triumph.
Sounds like this one will work for you
Stop holding back, need the Takumi Sen 10 review. Hopefully it was the one on the Adidas site in the Hillsborough Harriers green and black
In hand now. Only arrived today.
Always good when you don't have to spend earth credits. I didn't like the 25, found them to be a tad overrated.
Agree too soft and unstructured for me. Could only do very short recovery runs. Relegated to a walking shoe and don't really enjoy them for that!
@@Fozzee.1970 Yup fine for walking, but I sent them back. First shoe I've returned.
Great review as usual! Happy New Year Edward! 🎉

Which of the current foams do you think has the most energy return ? I am guessing at zoom x or ASICS turbo.
Zoomx or pwrrun hg
I've just bought a Secondhand Gel Nimbus 25 with a affordable price and still in good conditions, what a steal deal !

This is exactly my point. For many runners this type of shoe gets them out there and getting miles on the board. Glad it hits the spot
Thanks for the review. Can you elaborate - why the difference in stack height measurement between you and the company?
Asics listed it as a specific stack for the sample size. But seems a bit out from normal. Typically my stack height in my size is 4mm more in the heel than the sample.
£180?! That's my stake money for tonight's game 🃏
I shall take back the empties. 🍾

I love the colorway. 😮
I find them to be a comfortable shoe for every day use,but not a running shoe..
I think that’s why they sell so many
👍
Just missed the podium

Hope the grip isn’t as bad as the 25. Any damp or wet surfaces then the traction is terrible! Also the 25 on the heavy side. Great video though! 👍
Much improved grip on the 26
Like from Spain. Have a great day.
Thank you! You too!
Thanks for the review, however, the shoes, completely utterly and totally unremarkable in every imaginable way

£180 is absurd. That's US $228. Even with the variable American sales tax, the $160 price doesn't get close to the UK price.
